Vintage brass K&E Keuffel & Esser Surveying Transit level in wooden case 1946
Description Vintage Keuffel& Esser K&E brass/bronze surveyors transit. I'm not sure of the model number(looks like a 5085CF but I can't find any markings to confirm) Serial number 95098, probably dates to the mid 1940s. Looks to be in pretty decent condition for age, lens looks clear, all bubble levels are intact, shows typical brassing from paint rub. It could use a cleaning, I can detect a very slight musty aroma from storage but not too serious. Includes everything pictured. wooden case, brass plumb bob, etc. Case is a bit dinged up around the finger-jointed edges but still quite solid, leather strap is strong. Shipping weight 21 lbs. Good used condition. The length of each leg(not including the metal bracket on the top) is approximately 28 1/2" at the shortest point when fully retracted. The legs are approximately 52 1/2" fully extended. It looks like the legs originally had some sort of rubber bumpers on the bottom which have broke off(see photos) One of the legs has some minor splitting where one of the screws goes in(see photo) Please email me with any questions. Vintage Brass CRAFTSMAN TRANSIT Builders Level & WOOD BOX old
for auction is a vintage Craftsman Builders transit. It does not say Craftsman any where on the tool. The only mark is the word patented. I believe it is a craftsman transit from comparing this transit with others that have previously sold. At one point there was a craftsman sticker on the tool but must of fallen off years ago. The bubble is in good condition. the sight focuses. The lenses are a bit dirty and will need to be cleaned. All components on the transit move and function. There is some evidence of wear from use. but the tool has not been abused. The box is solid and it can still be used, but has seen better days. it is in rough condition. there is rust on the hinges, the handle and the closing clasps. There is some splits in the wood. and some chips and some dry rot. The box can be refurbished, but there will be some labor involved. ... morethe tool will just need to be cleaned and tuned. Here we have a Vintage C. L. Berger& Sons. Inc. Boston, Mass. Builders Transit Level, Serial no. 71703(I could not find info on correlating this to a date of manufacture but based on the overall design I would guess early-mid 1900's) This is a very nice fully functional vintage Builders transit/level with internal focusing. Positive telescope lock. Under-slung brass level vial fully protected. Horizontal 3-3/4" calibrated circle with pointer. Micrometer adjustment and lock screw. The original textured black finish looks to be approx. 95-99% The transit rests on 4 brass leveling screw feet. Complete with the original'finger-jointed' mahogany box with leather strap and set of bubble adjustments inside lid. There is a hole for a plumb bob but it is not present. It has not been tested it but it appears to be in very good ... morecondition. With clear lenses that do focus on your target. No damage or repairs. Scope is 10-5/8" L with a 3/4" lens mounted inside a brass rim. The box measures: 11-5/8"L x 6-7/8"H x 5-1/4"D. Apologies" there is an Owner's nme inscribed in the undersurface of the central circle. The green painted metal the tripod head is made of is attracted to a magnet, and it has brass screws, The threaded mount on top and the screw piece on the bottom both have the same 11/16" diameter. This listing is for a very nice David White level-transit surveying scope. This is model 8300 and in great condition. This particular model is supposedly the best transit level made. I think it's from the 1960s. This is a beautiful piece for work or display. Great for the steampunk fans. It has lots of brass fittings and trim and would be lovely polished up. It comes in a heavy duty wooden case with a very sturdy carrying strap. Everything seems to be in good working order. All pieces move smoothly with no effort. The pictures just don't show how nice this is.

Love the item but not the price? Contact me with your best offer. Vintage Brunson Survey Transit with Original Dovetailed Box. This transit is in good condition for it's age but it does show wear. This transit does have some areas with paint loss. And it is a bit dirty. I've only wiped it with a soft dry cloth. There are some spots with may be surface rust or could be dirt. The optics appear to be in good condition and movement is very smooth. The wooden dovetailed box is marked Brunson on the top and contains a repair label on the inside dated 4/24/1975. The box has a completely weathered appearance and there is only part of the original leather carrying strap on each side. There is some staining on the top of the box which gives it character. The side of the box has some separation of the dovetail. Which is pictured, but the box ... moreis still sound. Box contains 4 bits or tools inside to help calibrate or fine tune the transit. This transit was purchased from the original owner. He was unsure exactly how old it was but has used it up until last year. 2014, when he received a new one for Christmas. This transit is functional and would make a great gift for an engineer or surveyor and it also looks beautiful on display. Transit has the patent numbers 2208014 which was filed in 1938. And 2329978 which was filed in 1942. Brunson is a well respected name in the metrology business. Brunson has been around since 1927 and has made accurate measurement devices for property surveying. Instruments that assist with alignment of navigational systems and submarines, and tools and techniques to help build air crafts and satellites. Brunson is still around today. In 1997 Brunson acquired their main competitor Cubic Precision which was formerly known as Keuffel& Esser, or K& E. Up for bid here is a Vintage David White D W Sight Mark 1 Hand Level Handheld Transit Leveler w Case that is broken. The story here is that I sold this last June for $50. But. It got broken in shipping as you can see in the one photo. So, it was returned to me and I gave the buyer his money back. It was my fault in that I figured that the leather case would protect it so I put it in a fairly small box and just used paper as cushion. I believe that I shipped it First Class. This time around, even though the damage is done, I'm going to ship it Priority and use bubble wrap.
