Sometimes referred to as a BUILDER'S LEVEL. This Transit has a great look and will display nicely. The deep patina gives it a commanding presence. The instrument extends out to 17 3/8" Maximum Extension) The Objective Lens measurement has a 1 1/2 inch diameter. In adjusting the Rack and Pinion Eyepiece Focus. I found the optics to be clear, with cross hairs present. The 7 1/2" Full Double Bubble Vial is still sealed with liquid. And is in perfect working condition. This transit is engraved'W. L.E. GURLEY on one side. And TROY, NY on the other side. The Serial Number 14139L indicates that this equipment is dated ca. 1914. The"L" probably ... morestands for"Level" model. The Leveling Feet and Tangent Screw on Azimuth Rotation operate smoothly. The brass transit base screw threads smoothly into the header on the tripod legs. All Tripod studs and screws are brass. This is the original Tripod Stand to this Gurley Transit. It measures 57 inches tall. Plus the top brass mounting plate. The wood has an oak grain. The Tripod Feet are capped with protective metal covers. The wood on the tripod legs has dried and are in un-restored condition. The mounting plate has the initials G.H.L. stamped into it. The dovetailed mahogany storage case measures 17 inches wide by 6 inches deep by 10 inches high. It has the original brass latches. No key is available. The original cloth strap on the box broke and will be included in the package. The box has a temporary black replacement shoulder strap. The Transit sets down securely in its case and rests upon a brass cradle. The only accessory is a round brass cylinder. The Original Owner was the well-known Civil Engineer. C. L. This is a set that consists of a level transit with tripod and a level measuring rod. These all show signs of use and wear but overall are in antique good condition. Will a little cleaning and polishing they'll look real sharp. Maybe even take them out and give them a little old school field time again too. Lot includes the following: Bostrom Model No. 2 Surveying Instrument~This was described to us as a level transit. This is a thee poster that has a working level bubble on the instrument and brass adjustment screws on the underside. The instrument leveled up nicely when mounted on the tripod. The upper half does feel a bit loose and wobbles. Has some rust on it here and there but ... morethe scale is readable. Includes a plumb bob{note the string is short} and the original carry storage chest. Optics need cleaned but you can see the cross hair when viewing through it. Chest measures 11 ½ x 4 ¾ x 6 and has a storage spot inside for the plumb bob. Tripod~This has a threaded center post for attaching the instrument and 3 long one piece legs. Legs measure 59 long. However there is a six inch crack in the base of the case. This is only cosmetic in nature& does not affect the use in any way. See pics This is an estate find item. I have not tested it therefore I cannot guarantee it. But I see no reason this unit will not function just fine. I did check over the leveling feet& misc. knobs& scope lenses. Etc. could see nothing that looked flawed, etc. There is a place for the Plumb Bob but there is NO plumb bob included. You could pick up a plumb bob at the local hardware store to make this unit fully functional.

Up for sale is a vintage K + E surveyor's pocket bubble level. It is in great working condition as is the original leather case included. When looking through the sight the bubble is plainly visible and the horizontal reference looks to be straight. The leather case is in very good shape. Especially considering its age. The cover snaps down securely and the carrying strap is fully functional and adjustable. This is not a museum piece, but a working man's tool of the trade. The paint on the body of the sight is chipped, especially along the corners(see pictures) The leather of the case is a bit dry, but is undamaged. These seem to be the only issues regarding condition. Berger Transit/Builders Level with Wooden Case
Listed for auction is a Berger Transit combination Builders Level. This is how this model series was listed in adds from the 1930's to the 50's. It is tan/light brown in color(most are black) and has some nice extras included in the beautiful wooden finger joint case. With the exception of the leather strap(worn through at the buckle)All is in good and functioning condition. I'm not sure what the actual optics are, but it is a professional grade surveyors instrument and they are quite strong. Also included(visible in the pictures) is a matching lens cap, a black light shield for shooting into the sun, a plumb bob, and a calibration tool. Also the box comes with a protective cotton bag(made from bank money sacks) and a surveying job written on graph paper.

This is a Survey Transit Level made by David White/Path Instruments. The model is a S-207W and i believe it has an auto level. This was used by my grandpa in his surveying business and has een in storage for the last many years. It looks to be in great ahspe and the lenses are clean, i am sure it still works or he wouldnt have kept it(i don't really know how to use it) It has the number 2R248 on it and the case still has the original stickers on it too. It has a QC"PASSED" sticker on it from when my grandpa kept it certified. It comes with the lens cap, tool kit, and even some of the factory papers from when it was new. This auction is for a Vintage Brunson 534280 Model#50 Transit Engineers Level. This transit level comes from a mini storage auction. It looks like it is complete however I did find this the glass/plastic is cracked cracked but it looks good. It is a little dirty. The lenses are clear and clean. The furthers that I can see is 1/4 quarter of a mile and focused it and it looks clear. It does not have anything stuck or freeze. On the bottom part it has the number 3 1/2-9 and turning it around so that the bottom shows it has B3006. When I bought it. It was raining and the glasses where the needle has moisture but you can remove it by letting it in the sun. It does not have a case or box I got it without it. Buy as is. This transit is a vintage Eagle No. 2305 Transit is affixed to the metal case base. The case measures 10.5 inches tall. 9 inches wide,and 5 inches deep. This is an estate sale find. And appears to be in very good condition. There are no cracks to the lenses and level vials are in good condition also. These items appear to all date to 1952 or 1953. The catalog is 32 pages plus the covers measuring about 6" x 9' The front cover reads: David White Co. Manufacturers of Instruments For Engineers. Surveyors and Builders- Bulletin No. 1052- Milwaukee 12, Wisconsin, USA This catalog has the document code"1052 5 53" printed on the back cover and is illustrated throughout with numerous pieces of surveying equipment sold by the company. THIS IS AN ANTIQUE KEUFFEL& ESSER BRASS TRANSIT FRESH OUT OF AN OLD SOUTHERN MARYLAND ESTATE ATTIC. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS TO MAKE SURE I HAVE ADVISED THE CORRECT MODEL AND DETAILS. I BELIEVE THE TRANSIT IS A Y LEVEL CONVERTIBLE ARCHITECT TRANSIT. THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE COMPASS DIAL IS: 14055. THIS DATES THE TRANSIT TO 1907-1908. THE TRANSIT HAS A LARGE BUBBLE LEVEL UNDER THE SCOPE. THE SCOPE& COMPASS ASSEMBLY ROTATES AROUND THE BASE ARM. THERE ARE PRECISION NUMERAL MARKS AROUND THE RIM OF ROTATION(SEE PHOTOS) THE COMPASS BASE IS FULLY GIMBLED FOR LEVELING. THIS THING IS REALLY BUILT LIKE A TANK! I LOOKED THROUGH THE SCOPE IN PLAIN NORMAL INDOOR LIGHT. THE TRANSIT STILL FOCUSES SHARP& WAS BRIGHT TO LOOK THROUGH. I CAN SEE SOME DUST PARTICLES INSIDE. THE GLASS IS NOT SCRATCHED UP. THE TRANSIT IS NOT BENT UP. DENTED UP OR CRACKED. ... moreNOTHING IS LOOSE OR STRIPPED OUT. THE COMPASS SPINS SMOOTH. THE COMPASS DIAL IS CLEAN& BRIGHT. THE GLASS CRYSTAL IS NOT CRACKED OR FOGGED UP. THE BRASS ON THE TRANSIT IS TONING FROM AGE& ATTIC STORAGE. I HAVE NOT CLEANED OR TAMPERED WITH ANYTHING. THE TRANSIT HAS NOT BEEN CHOPPED UP, ALTERED OR MODIFIED AT ALL THAT I CAN SEE. VINTAGE BRASS SURVEYOR TRANSIT LEVEL #1386
This vintage transit belonged to my father. He brought this back from overseas after world war 2 was over. I cannot find any name on it but it does have a# L- 1386 on it. My father was a farmer and I remember using this transit to level the fields with when I was boy. It looks to be in very nice condition. I will be listing the transit tripod and target in another auction.
