Comes in original wood case with the metal trademark plaque front and center. It comes complete with a plumb bob. A lens cap, a shade sleeve, 3 adjusting pins, and an extra'new' glass level still in the paper. Also included is the hard-to-find. Removable, footed trivet base. This model was made with sturdy materials like nickel silver and phosphor bronze. The level measures 7 1/2" tall when on trivet. It is 13 1/4" long when fully extended and 12" when recessed. A. Leitz Theodolite Transit Level San Francisco Ser# 6921 With Case
Early A. Leitz San Francisco Theodolite Transit. The serial number is 6921. All the level vials are intact. And the optics are clear with no damage. When I move the focus knob to the extreme close up, I can see a horizontal reticle in the lower quadrant. When I focus the lens at 100 yards, I can see no reticle. Mechanically the transit is in excellent condition. All the knobs work as they should. The wooden case is solid, but the bottom eye for the hook to secure the lid is missing. Here is a somewhat rare and antique W& L.E. Gurley Transit/Scope in great condition! All parts are there and it all slides and moves freely! Lenses/ cross hairs are clear and surprisingly effective! I believe this to be from after 1852 to the 1870 era? Most likely made before or during civil war era! Stamped into the brass is the name W& L.E. Gurley Troy N.Y. No other numbers that I can find! The transit is fully extended approximately 22" and is 8 1/4" tall. I do not have the box or the tripod. You are only buying a transit! But what a transit this is!All pieces are brass, Except for the glass! The level part works perfectly and the bubble floats freely! Take a look at the chart and you'll see the serial number(109821) falls in between the 1941 and 1942 year bracket. It appears to be in good shape, clear optics. ANTIQUE 1880's BRASS KERN AARAU SURVEYING TRANSIT WYE LEVEL SWISS 22035
This is a very nice 14" brass antique Kern-Aarau Wye Level. With wooden case. It is marked No.22035. I was told it was made prior to 1889 when J.Kern began trading as Kern& Cie. I can not find any other marking to verify these dates. There are some scratches, but this is in surprisingly good condition. The metal latch part in the box falls off, so may need to be repaired if you want it to be a functional lock. There is no key. The telescope does magnify. But there is a smudge and what appears to be a hair or crack. I attempted to photograph these. The"hair" is shown on the pic of the leaves. It is in the center/ left of the image, and goes to the right and up. Both pics of the magnification show what looks like a smudge in the image. Shipping will be a flat $30. Very cool measuring stick model# 6278-A. It is 14' and folds in half. Basically like carrying two 2x4's around. Once stood up there is a hook that locks the two pieces together. Great decorator piece but I'm sure it could still be used for surveying if you chose to. Hard to get a pic that shows just how bold the colors are against the white background.
