When I bought it from him there was some corrosion in the battery compartment. I have cleaned most of that out and you can see in the pictures what's left- it's pretty clean in there now. I put this away in my closet and just took it out today. When I powered it up it would spin for a few seconds and then stop. After I played with it a bit- including holding it upside-down- it started working. As of this moment it is working. I tested it with the laser receiver and the receiver ... moreresponded. Letting me know when it was level with the laser. In the pictures you can see the battery power lights on and the picture of the laser head shows it spinning(note the blurred head) Because of the problem I had starting it up it is being sold AS-IS with no returns. I put this away in my closet and took it out a few weeks later. When I powered it up it would spin for a few seconds and then stop. Complete with the original case, the LS 70C sensor and a Topcon Holder 6(for a square rod) I am an engineer and the original owner. The only reason I am selling it is my consulting business is closing. The laser is in excellent condition and works as well as when it was new. It spins smoothly and works perfectly. It has always been well cared for and always handled gently- never dropped or tipped over. I am not sure the exact hours of operation. But I only used it to check grade on a few projects every summer. It has never been used on any type of production surveying or contracting work. And it has never bounced around in the back of a pickup or a flat bed like so many you see around town. I live in low humidity Eastern Washington. ... moreAnd the laser has never been stored in the case wet. So there is no moisture damage. The outside of the laser shows only some very faint scratches- no major scratches or dings. The sensor has several small dings in the lower edge. As shown in the photos. It has never had batteries corrode inside it. The case works perfectly. With all the original padding and latches. Included is all of the original Topcon literature. Accuracy per the Topcon Instruction Manual- plus/minus.15 inches in 50 meters(55 yards) and the laser can be easily calibrated by the user. The Topcon manual contains instructions. I just checked the calibration and made a very minor adjustment. From 50 yards away. It will read to the same sharp pencil mark no matter which way the laser is turned on the tripod! Topcon RL-50B Rotating Laser(not working) laser spins however does not send signal to receiver. The red laser does not light that used to send the signal. The receiver unit does work however I have it all as listed as non working. The receiver unit is Topcon model LS-50B. The bracket the holds the receiver is a newer type with the built in bubble level. The unit comes with a hard case. I purchased this unit new and it was calibrated last in 2007. I was in the excavating business unitl 2005 and then had only used it on when need for friends etc. I hope someone has the parts to fix this or can use it for parts to fix theirs.
