Early Vintage Souvenir Metal Building Monument Romulus and Remus Rome on base
This is a very early miniature metal replica of the famous statue of Romulus and Remus that appears in several sights and museums in Rome. Roma, Italy. The legend is that the twin boys Romulus and Remus were abandoned by their birth mother and raised and, yes, nursed to health by a she-wolf. During a sibling fight, Remus was killed by his brother and the city of Rome is said to be named after the victorious brother. This piece is made with three different materials. The wolf and two boys are a single casting in spelter metal. The white pedastle is onyx and the gray colored base is a slab of marble. One long panel of the onyx pedastle is engraved: RICORDO DI ROMA. The metal statue itself is 3" tall, 5" long. Overall dimensions are 5.25" tall with a 2.5 by 5.5" footprint. Cast in lead in the this is a great looking miniature metal replica of the BASILIQUE DE NOTRE DAME DU CAP in Canada. Dating this piece has become confusing. THE BOOK lists it as a 1930's piece but construction on the actual church was not begun until 1955, though there were other N D du Caps on that sight for a hundred years before that. It is possible, but I cannot guaranty, that the model was made before construction began. It is just under 4.5" tall on a 3.5 by 4" base. The only apology is that the cross atop, while still there, is curved a bit where it joins the building. REFERENCE PLATE 188 IN MONUMENTAL MINIATURES. When Frank Woolworth built his Cathedral of Commerce on lower Broadway in Manhattan. He financed the entire deal with cash. Hell, some of us can't even afford this miniature metal replica of that same building without credit! The Woolworth Building still stands proudly across from City Hall Park on lower Broadway. This is one of the first replicas ever made of the classic skyscraper- once the tallest building in the world. It is the same souvenir building as the piece pictured in THE BOOK, standing 8" tall. This just might be on the best post-antenna souvenir Empire State Buildings ever cast(the antenna was added to the building in 1948) It is a highly detailed and well made 11" tall miniature metal replica of the Empire State Building. It is a brass casting or at least brass base with a brass wash finish and it is in superb all original condition with just a little bit of finish aging. Mostly on the base. They're packed with a PUNCH of industrial primitive charm, and they are totally useful! What I have are three small boxes that I do believe were once drawers. They are are made of tin, and have a fabulous age darkened patina mixed with spotty surface rust(surface only and very light) Each box is marked on the top- carved into the metal are the words, Building Job. Now, one has a white surface over it- I don't know if that's paint or? but it makes it much easier to read in my photos, but know that the others are totally legible too- they are just the color of the metal. One more thing to point out is I THINK that the little lip that the"Building Job" is carved into is actually brass or ... morecopper- with a reallyreallyreally dark patina, I can't be 100% sure as I have not messed with the patina in any way, but it has the color, and a magnet does not stick to that part(only, the rest is tin for sure) so supersize and see what you think. Each box is a matching size- 3" wide, 3 7/8" deep and 2 1/2" tall. Each one weighs 1/4 lb. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition with some waving of the edges of the walls of the box very slightly this way or that, and a little bowing out at the bottom from holding something heavy at one point in time- not so much that they don't stand straight though. The sides/front may have been painted black at one time- it's really hard to tell if the dark on the edges is paint with wear, or just patina. They are very dirty/cob-webby and need a good cleaning, I have not cleaned them in any way. I can't decide how I like them best- stacked, flat or standing up- any way, you can't go wrong! Lot of two paperback metal working books. 6 and 7 in series. By David J. Gingerly- Build your own metal working shop from scrap. These include: Number 6- The Dividing Head& Deluxe Accessories. 1982 first edition- first printing. Designed by non professional.Not engineer or scientist. The necessary equipment for these projects are lathe, drill press and the miller. Some cover and cover edge wear but overall good. Number 7- Designing& Building the sheet metal Brake. Sixth printing 1985 paperback- A bending brake for use in many shops. This is a welding project rather than casting or machining project. You can find much of what you need at local salvage yard. This is light duty portable leaf brake. Heavy work will require larger. Heavier equipment but basic principles are listed here. Some cover and cover edge wear. 100' x 85' metal building with two cargo doors and hvac units
For sale: 100'x85' metal building complete with two cargo doors. Several walk-thru doors, windows, and two large hvac units. Both cargo doors are electrically controlled Twelve walk-thru doors(eight double doors and four single doors) Five windows This is complete metal construction(no wood pieces at all) Mostly bolt together construction. Only a few purlins were welded in. Most were bolted on with brackets. Very minor welding needed for erecting the building. I labeled all of the frame pieces. Purlins, windows, doors, and external sheeting. I have diagrams which show how it all goes back together. I also have measurements for the bolt patterns for all of the posts and poles. I only have four pictures here, but I have several more and also several cell phone videos showing the building and how it was numbered. Building has four support ... morepoles running down the center of the building. One each at the 20' 40' 60' and 80' points. The 10' cargo door is located on a long side. The 12' cargo door is located on a short side. One of the vertical posts was inadvertently cut off during deconstruction. It will need to be re-welded. One other post was slightly twisted. But should be easily straightened with a backhoe. One of the C-channel pieces was dented, but should be able to be pounded out. Everything else came down without damage. I even have buckets of bolts and screws from taking down the building. Building is deconstructed and located in Meridian. MS. Item for sale locally so auction may be ended at any time.
