TreatFurME VINTAGE Native BEADED Leather Mitts Gauntlet GLOVES Fleece Lining Description Description If only these beautiful vintage beaded gauntlets could tell their story. I picked them up at an estate auction in Mohawk Territory. I was told they were Native American. But the name inside makes me wonder. A label sewn on the dense, colorful blue fleece says SPECIALLY HAND MADE AND DESIGNED BY URSULA GRZELAK. Beautiful workmanship. The flower is cut from blue and red leather and the stem and leaves are green suede- the beadwork covers the stitching. The fringe is hand cut and is all in tact. I tried to show the thickness of the leather used to make the mitts. I suspect it might be moose hide as it is about 1/8 inch thick and is nice and supple. I do not hold myself out to be an expert in this area. If anyone can shed more light about the ... moremaker and/or hide, I would be happy to add any information to the listing. The gauntlets are nice and warm and are in very good, clean condition. If you look at the photo of the back of the mitts, you will notice a dark spot near the opening of one of them. I don't know what it was, but a light scraping was able to remove this mark completely(as shown in the second photo of the backs) Any variation in the coloring in the photos is from the camera flash or lighting. No size label; I wear a ladies size 7 glove and these gauntlets fit me just fine. I bought these biking gloves about 3 weeks before I found out I have a crippling Bone disease. I am not allowed to bike. Play tennis, play volleyball or any other thing I love to do because I have the bones of a 98 year old. Sucks, huh? These gloves are awesome. Unfortunately. I only got to wear them once. I've had many different pairs. over the yrs. My main complaint about other gloves, was that they were too hot! These are leather where you need it and cool nylon and fingerless. So they really keep you cool and protected. They were pretty expensive. Too. We moved close to a beautiful park that has an awesome bike wilderness trail. I got to ride it once. The long pair is 11" long and appear to be unused b/c inside was their original tag indicating that they were made in Italy. The other three pairs are shorter. They all appear to be worn.
