Best Creature from the Black Lagoon Garage Kit (built & painted) - BAR NONE!!!
The iconic Creature from the Black Lagoon in a classic pose. Perched on a log at the bottom of the Black Lagoon waiting to rise from the depths to pursue sexy Julia Adams as she swims by. Standing a little over 13" tall with a 10" wide base. This is one kit I had never seen before until I came across this one on EBAY over a year ago and I haven't seen one since. The workmanship and detail in this piece are just unbelievable. It is a truly a work of sculpturing art, think Venus De Milo! Look at the base the Creature rests on, a lot of work went into the casting of this piece. When I got this. The Creature was bland looking, painted in a drab green color with minimal highlights and the base and everything on it was painted in neutral/drab colors as well. The tree stump and rocks on the base were all a single color. IT WAS BLAH! ... moreSo I took out the paints and brush and did it up the way I thought it should be, including use of paint with glitter in it applied to the Creature so he looks as if the light from the surface of the Lagoon is shimmering down upon him as he rests at the bottom. Look closely- a lot of fine detail work went into painting this. The whole thing has been sealed with Clear Gloss to maintain and protect the finish. The Creature attaches to the log on the base by a metal rod suck inside him(ouch! In other words. The Creature detaches from base. Aquarium plants have been added for effect, they are not part of model but will be included as they add a nice touch. I don't know if there are many of these floating around. It certainly wasn't mass produced. This one is definitely one-of-a-kind because of the paint job! This is a resin piece. It is delicate. When I received it, his right arm was detached and I had to reapply.
