It is in nice condition. And measures 18 1/2" long and 8 3/4" high to the top thumb screw. Everything moves freely on this and appears to be in working order. It is marked David White Co. Milwaukee, Wis. U.S.A. No. 61489. Also has a scratched on number: SCS 485448. I think this is a Govt. surplus number from the Soil Conservation Service. Also marked on the brass base: 3 1/2" 8- THDS. David White Company 1950 Universal Level Transit This surveying tool comes with it's own carrying/storage case. The wooden box is tongue and groove with a latch on the front that holds it closed. The leather strap and buckle go across the top for carrying. The box was painted red. With one side being grey. The bottom has rubber bumpers so it doesn't sit flat on the ground. I shows some wear giving this antique a unique look. It works like it's supposed to, storage/carrying. Dimensions of box: 14"L x 11 1/4"H x 6 3/4"W The suveying tool is in quite good condition. It swivels. The scope moves up and down, and the knobs turn quite smoothly. The bottom is threaded so it can be placed on a tri-pod. Up for sale are two Transit Levelers made by David White. One is a 8090 and the other is a 8080. No issues that I know of, great sight picture, cross hair image. 4 pounds, 10 ounces out of the shipping box but in the orig. container. Shipping will be 16.35 for a large flat rate box with tracking. Anything else that fits into the box will ship free. Please note that I could use a reg non flat rate box with tracking if you live within a few hundred miles and save you a few bucks, don't pay until I get a chanch to change the invoice. On the other hand, using the large flat rate will allow for combined shipping with no extra cost.
