This tripod adapter converts a regular 5/8"x 11 tripod to use 3 1/2" x 8 instruments. I was using this with a David White LT-8300 but I don't have that anymore and I'm not planning on buying another vintage transit. It will work with any vintage transit with a large base- sometimes called a mason jar base because of it's shape. It has only seen light use as the 8300 was a teaching aid and not in field use.

This appears to have all of the"bells and whistles" as far as adjustments go. Has the brass cap for the end(as seen in pics) has what looks like a"sunshade" for the end of the scope. The 25" surveying pole has scuffs and scratches. The bag it goes in is dirty but holds the pole just fine. This set is all used but was well taken care of. All the straps are intact and still work. When looking through the eye piece you see a clear image and the focus feature works perfectly. All the adjusting points seem to work as they should. There are scuffs but no dings or other signs of abuse. The only thing that shows any signs of hard handling is that the plastic sun shield on the front is pretty scuffed up. I purchased this used unit and was told it was perfect- found out that the base would not level. I took the base apart and found that one of the set screws was different from the other three. Aside from missing its OEM manufacturer's plate, which only states manufacturer, serial number, etc, it is in immaculate condition. The compass functions, the glass is all perfectly intact and, from what I can tell, is scratch free. It comes with a small magnification device and the original wooden box, also in great shape.
