Appears to be an earlier version of the David White Company model 3000[the later ones look the same but have"model 3000" on the brass data plate] Will certainly need some cleaning and adjustment as it hasn't been used in a very long time. The wood case has a David White data plate on the top. case is in pretty rough shape but has protected the transit well for a long time! It's been painted white[a long time ago. paint is very dry and flaking off] The remains of the original leather strap are attached to the sides. Interior appears to be fitted to the transit with blocks to prevent movement in transport. The instrument itself is in pretty decent condition. but the optics are cloudy. Older instrument that I have used several time. Needs to be fine tuned on the level adjustment. Always close enough for my work. Cross hairs set at an angle, must be loose somehow and I never tied to fix as it worked, just a bit concerting when you first look through it. Anyway, you can use it or fix it up some more. David White Meriden; does angles of elevation and depression. Well worth my starting bid. Pretty clean looking tool, dispite case damage.

Antique Umeco Transit Arcitectural Level with David White Tripod working Optics
Used Umeco from 1920's. We think. They are rare and it's difficult to pin down the decade. Great Vintage Used appearance. It shows quite well. The optics focus quite well; the tripod is refinished in gloss urethane; the brass has been cleaned but not polished; the carry case is original. with a broken leather strap. This listing is for a very nice David White level-transit surveying scope. This is model 8300 and in great condition. This particular model is supposedly the best transit level made. I think it's from the 1960s. This is a beautiful piece for work or display. Great for the steampunk fans. It has lots of brass fittings and trim and would be lovely polished up. It comes in a heavy duty wooden case with a very sturdy carrying strap. Everything seems to be in good working order. All pieces move smoothly with no effort. The pictures just don't show how nice this is.

Up for bid here is a Vintage David White D W Sight Mark 1 Hand Level Handheld Transit Leveler w Case that is broken. The story here is that I sold this last June for $50. But. It got broken in shipping as you can see in the one photo. So, it was returned to me and I gave the buyer his money back. It was my fault in that I figured that the leather case would protect it so I put it in a fairly small box and just used paper as cushion. I believe that I shipped it First Class. This time around, even though the damage is done, I'm going to ship it Priority and use bubble wrap. The bottom line is that I don't know how to repair this and it isn't doing me any good sitting around here. So, I'm putting it up for bid for 99 cents plus shipping. I don't know anything about survey equipment but this item appears to work well. The lenses look good, the cross hairs are straight, it focuses fine, the leveling mechanism and bubble are working. The paint on the level is original-there are some light scratches but overall it looks very good in my opinion, the unit could probably use a cleaning. The case is solid with no holes or cracks, it does have scratches and paint loss. The latches and handle on the case have some surface rust but they work just fine. The corners all have tongue and groove joinery. The strap is original and it has been softened with expensive mink oil to make is supple. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS ITEM EXCEPT FROM WHAT I READ BUT THIS ITEM IS IN A CLAMPED DOWN HARD COVER FOR PROTECTION AND THE SURVEY TOOL SEEMS TO BE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. The tripod is in good condition. It it slides up and down with ease. I believe the sliding part is made of wood in the middle. I could not find any other markings other than the one on the cap and the Number 9010-03 on the inside metal part of it so I am not sure what model number it is.
