Old Painting of Cabin on the Lake signed B. Cope Detailed Gold Wood Frame
This is an old picture that was hanging in our home when we purchased it. It is a lovely painting(I think it is on some type of fiber board not canvas) It is signed on the lower right corner B. Cope. The picture has come loose from the frame on the top and dirt has gotten between the glass and the picture. I will not take it apart to clean it because I am afraid I will ruin the painting. The frame is not damaged on the face. But on one back corner there is a spot that is so I took two pictures of what it looks like. The third picture is what the entire frame looks like and it is beautiful! Outside measurements of the golden wood frame are 30 1/2" long and 24 3/4" tall. It is 1 7/8" at the deepest width. Historic Artifact Donner Party Murphy Cabin Wood Relic Vial
A rare. Historic, early California pioneer relic from the ill-fated Donner Party, a group of California homesteaders who in 1846 found themselves trapped by snowfall as they crossed the Sierra Nevadas into California. They were caught in an early season storm, and then ran out of options. Having left most essential supplies in the desert before reaching the mountains, the group soon found itself faced with starvation and resorted to cannibalism for survival. Over 40 members perished, over half the group. This relic is a small glass bottle, 2" tall with wax seal, containing a quantity of wood remnants from the"Murphy Cabin" at Donner Lake, the main cabin in which members of the group huddled through the winter. Two printed tags dated 1893 remain attached, one with sworn certification of the authenticity of the relic, the second ... moreindicating that proceeds from the sale of these relics, at $1.00 each, would be put to the construction of a monument to the Donner party. Very rarely seen outside of museums and galleries/private collections. The creation of the vials is described in M. I’m very pleased to offer this 1950s chandelier– ideal for a cabin! The fixture is based on 19 th-century oil lamp chandeliers. But filtered through an Atomic Age aesthetic sensibility. The effect is wonderful. There are five frosted glass hurricane chimneys. And these are capped with delightful hats ... morepierced with circular cut-outs. The overall coloring is like a really old penny. And bronze. All the wiring is new. And the exposed wire is cloth-covered like the original. Wholly restored and with new wiring. This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs. The ceiling canopy has five small holes. Two are for the mounting screws. One. To the side, is for a pull-chain option. The last two are next to the first two. They seem to be alternative locations for mounting screws. COLOR: See above. SIZE: The fixture hangs down 20-1/2-inches and is 17-inches wide. I can remove up to 5-inches of chain; I can add chain. CONDITION: I love writing this: there’s no damage. The sockets are original with new wiring. The fixture retains its original finish(a dark coppery color and bronze) The finish looks very good but.
