For sale is an original early 1900's Lutted's Log Cabin Cough Drop Country Store Counter Display Jar This offering is for a very hard to find original version of this item. It has been reproduced since the early 1990's in several colors. But this is a guaranteed old, original piece done in clear glass. It has the words"JAS. LUTTED BUFFALO. N.Y. USA" on the bottom of the container and also the words"GENUINE HAS JL STAMPED ON EACH DROP" along the lower edge of the lid on both sides. The repros have neither of these two features on them. The repros also tend to have handles on the sides. The container measures approx. 5 W x 7 1/4 L x 6 1/2 inches high(to the top of the chimney on lid) This piece displays very well. It does have some damage. Which is not uncommon to find on glass pieces of this age and type, which ... morehave been put to use. There are chips in the glass(the largest being on two corners of the bottom(container) half of the item) They are located on one of the shorter sides and are along the top where the lid sits when closed. There are other chips and rough areas. These are mostly confined to the edges of the bottom of the lid and the top edges of the bottom(container) where the two meet. There are also a few small chips on the chimney top. Please also refer to the pictures in this auction as they are part of the description. Some blocks need a bit of TLC but still a nice usable lot. All were salvaged from an antique quilt. ~ 25 Tree of Life Blocks. All hand stitched and pieced. All have been salvaged from an antique quilt top. Measure approx. 12 inches square. ~ Cranberry/Burgundy Calico. Approx. 2 yds of fabric cut in 3 pieces. Here is a beautiful plastic car with cabin cruiser and boat trailer from back in the 1960's. This car is like new as it has never been played to any degree other than the 72 year old kid I got it from. And he never wore hole one on any trousers, so it is in mint + condition. This was made by a company by the name of JOY TOY who was located in the country of New York, City, that is. This toy is in the original box it was issued from in the factory with all of the flaps in tack. The box on the bottom also has various road signs that if they don't accidentally get tossed, well you know, they get ripped off the box then it's bye bye box. I don't think it was ever played with. It measures about 14" long. Battery operated. There are two drips of brown on the back part of the top- shown in photo 10- and a couple of surface scratches. History of Cades Cove Cades Cove started out as a Cherokee settlement called“T siya’hi” or Otter Place back around 1797. The Cove was eventually named for the Chief of that tribe. Chief Kade. After the Treaty of Calhoun in 1819, the Cherokee relinquished all claims to the Smoky Mountain area. John Oliver settled Cades Cove around that same time. Soon other great founding families arrived such as William“Fighting Billy” Tipton, Peter Cable and Daniel Foute. By 1839, Cades Cove had a population of over 650 and had its post office and a weekly ... moremail route set up. Religion played a very important part in this fairly isolated settlement and while the Oliver’s founded the Baptist church, several other religious entities moved in such as Methodist, Primitive Baptist as well as several other smaller factions of the Baptist Church. Cades Cove history continues on richly through the Civil War, Prohibition and other major national events. Cades Cove was established as a National Park through the power of eminent domain in 1927. After a series of lawsuits and protests, finally by 1960, all residents of Cades Cove no longer lived there and the churches were empty and the government owned all lands for the Smoky Mountain National Park. Here is a pre-owned Split Oak slat-wood weave Vintage firewood basket found at an old estate. Probably dates from the 1970's. It does have some wear and is old. Tapped nails that hold slat-woven basket are rusted and gold frame piece is scuffed and minor dents. One side has Eagle emblem. This slat-woven fireplace hearth basket measures approx 18 inches tall and about 16 inches deep. More than 17 inches long, and a bit more than 14 inches wide.
