Nice. Elegant, early 1900s brass and copper knife switch with bakelite base, and unusual turned wooden handle. 8 inches x 2 3/8 inches, anti-arcing mechanism. Good condition. This piece is very unusual in that ALL of the metal parts are copper and brass and not steel. The woodgrain handle is also unsual as most of these were painted black. It was probably used in a lab or classroom demonstration setting where appearance would have to have been a little better than ordinary industrial grade.

Offered is this antique porcelain electrical"knife switch" with wood handle. I'm assuming the metal is copper but I'm not certain. On the bottom is"LEVITON 9913. Measures 2 5/8" X 2" X 1 1/16" The wooden handle moves the switch from side to side. There are two dark spots on the porcelain. There is a very small chip on the top at one of the screws. The knife switch lifts and moves between what I assume are on and off positions. There are two terminals for connecting to an item. There is also a brass and copper piece that takes a cable or similar item and it is marked Bryant 16A 125V. On the end are two turn screw terminals. One is marked GRD and the other ANT. These are probably for ground and antenna. I'm not sure of its original use but could have been for telegraph, radio, projector or other early device using this type of switch. This is all mounted on a piece of wood. The length is 7 1/4 inches. The height is 2 1/2 inches and the width is 3 inches. It is an eccentric item right out of a bygone ... moreera. This RARE 10 THROW knife switch came out of a residential. Single family home in Lakewood, Ohio. The home is a very nice, well-appointed residence built in 1908 in the"fancier" section of town. This switch was in the master bedroom and was connected to every light in the house. My best guess is that it. If you were in your bedroom at night, you could throw the switch, light up the house and scare an intruder. When we found the switch during a recent updating of the wiring of this home, the switch was still connected to the 1908 wiring throughout the house, although the switch itself was behind a wall. It's a fantastic piece. And I've enjoyed showing it to my friends over the past couple of years. I am now willing to part with it. The base measures 10.5" x 3" I could not find a manufacturer's mark on it. The ... moreswitch moves back and forth as it should. I did NOT clean it. If the pictures make it look rusty. It is not. Really makes you think of Edison or someone long ago, pushing this lever to turn current on and off! It is marked 1261 and Made in U.S.A. on the bottom. The porcelain measures about 3 7/8" long. 1 3/8" wide and just about 3/4" thick. The porcelain is in great condition with the exception of a tiny chip on each corner which I have tried to show in the pictures and tiny chips on the bottom. The porcelain is smooth everywhere except for one side which is dirty and rough- not sure why. I do not see any other cracks, chips or breaks on the piece. The copper looks good and the wood? handle is in good shape also. The switch appears to work as it should. This would be a great addition to anyone's collection or ready to use for Steampunk. This is a nice pair of old electrical doohickeys. The knife switch is 6 inches by 3 inches. The other thing is 5 and 1/2 inches by 3 and 1/2 inches. The knife switch has a tiny crack in the part where the fuse screws in. It does not affect the integrity of the piece which is solid. The pieces are dirty but very nice. Very Good condition. This is a Knox Porcelain Knife Switch. The porcelain is 2 1/2" long by 1 1/4" wide. It is mounted I believe on an oak wood base. There is a small chip on the top of porcelain and a small chip on one of the bottom corners of the wood block. Please check out the pictures.

Antique knife switch mounted on, what I believe, is a slate base. it does have some chips on edges and corner but no cracks) This switch is very complete and all screws on the copper terminals and the knob on top of the handle appear to be original. The copper has some patina and a little splatter of white paint.
