However someone used it as an arts and craft project and now the finish is largely hidden under some sort of cement and ceramic tiles. Vintage Mid Century Handcrafted Queen Conch Shell Nightlight Lamp Wooden Base
This is an estate sale lamp that appears to be handcrafted. The base is made out of wood and the shell is held in place by nails. The shell tips over slightly. The base needs an additional nail to secure the shell. The lamp does work, I did not have it plugged in very long. The cord may need to be replaced due to age. Please see photos for details. The tip of the shell is chipped, I don't believe it's natural formation. The shell on the wooden base measures 8" tall x 6 1/2" across. The base measures 3 3/8" wide x 3 3/8" deep.

Rare 2 Pc. Fontanini Heirloom Nativity Creche Roman Large Italian Manger Stable With Base#50540 This is a large Fontanini 2 Piece manger with base made of wood with moss and bark. It is in the original box which has the number 50540 on the side and is called a"Stone Manger" I have searched for this item number and all I can find is an old reference which calls this a 2 Piece Fontanini Set. 5" Scale, Italian Stable and Base(Figures Sold Separately) This manger has been used in our family with the 7.5" scale figures and I have shown the 7.5" Mary and Joseph inside the stable so you can see how they look(note: the figures are not included) I suppose it is a matter of preference as to how large you like your stable to look in comparison with the figures. There is a little emblem near the front of the base that reads"Fontanini ... moreHeirloom Nativity Exclusively from Roman, Inc. As you can see from the photos. This would make quite a large scene. The stable with base takes up most of a doorway! The base is very heavy and is actually made of two pieces of board on top of each other. The top piece is not as big as the bottom piece so it forms two levels, one just a short step up from the other. The manger sits on top of the base and has a window in the back. Interestingly, there is a vertical cut down the back piece of board beginning at the window. This was done in manufacturing to cut out the window and is covered with moss on the front side so you can't see it. I was a little surprised at this for Fontanini! I have taken a photo of the back of the manger so you can see that it isn't damage. I also noticed. After taking the photos, that there are two fern-like plants bent down behind each tree stump that can be bent back up in place when displaying the scene. They were bent down for storage. Hand in-laid wood, marble-topped, dual brass pan apothecary balance(sometimes incorrectly called a“scale” It was made in France by the"Factories of the Mulatière- Lyon– House of Beranger"Google translation) probably in the mid-to-late nineteenth century(1800s) It is a very attractive example of a heavy. Solid, very well-made balance for use, or as an impressive part of any collection(see pictures) Balance is in excellent working condition considering its age! The stout knife edges and swing-arm internal mechanisms allow smooth operation of right and left pans. Both pans appear to be original to this unit! How often does that happen? We believe that because they both have the same stamped maker’s marks motif’ crown and 5-pointed star) as mentioned for the top center of the brass bezel discussed above. ... moreThey have a nice patina and do not have splits or cracks at the edges as many this age do. The balance dual“arrow” indicators are easy to read and work smoothly. The brass bezel surrounding the arrow indicators is embossed with“USINES DE LA MULATIERE” across the top arc; PORTEE” and“5 KIL” middle left and right) and“ A NE MAISONE BERANGER” across the bottom arc. A“LYON” medallion with a crown and a 5-pointed star is centered at the top. Corrosion is not that bad for a piece that could be 150 years old or more. The glass appears to be original and is clear with one vertical scratch. Which is not readily apparent unless viewed up close. The marble is soft white with natural color variations. It is not cracked and has a few small stains that are not readily visible when the pans are in place. It has 2 keyed holes in the bottom so that it fits securely on the base(it only fits one way– if the support stems rub. Date: Around 1930 +/ Materials: The statue is placed on a base that is made out of two different kinds of marble. The lady sculpture itself is made out of white metal and covered by a greenish bronze patina. On the left and right are two black balls. Presumably made out of bakelite or galalith. Measurements: The marble base measures 15.8" x 4.7" x 1.0" 40 cm x 12 cm x 2.5 cm) The statue only has a height of 9.1" 23 cm) without the base) and a max. length of 8.7" 22 cm) The total weight is approx. 11 lbs(5 kg) Condition: The entire sculpture is in excellent condition. There are some few losses of the greenish patina. Which isn't disturbing but brings out the high age of this antique statue. The marble base ... moreis in great, undamaged condition.
