For sale is a vintage mobile CB radio. ECHO 99er, 23 channels. It was left behind by my late father, who lived and breathed radio. He got his license when he was 16, and was continually active until he was almost 90. He taught radio school in the Army Signal Corps during WWII, and was a radio& television repairman for much of his life. He loved radio! This unit was left behind in his collection of"treasures. I have no knowledge or skill in testing his equipment. I'm just looking for good homes for his beloved radios. And I will have to sell it"as-is. I hope this is a unit that you would enjoy using. Aside from the scratches and scuffs from daily use, this particular one sports a custom-engraved back, with“OA2756 51X” rather sloppily written on the back. Additionally, the two leftmost rubber domes on the switches on top have degraded(this seems to be common with BK radios) Aside from all that, it's been working great since its adoption sometime long ago. Unusual 2-way mobile radio control unit - ex-police - made by STC
STC 2-way Mobile Radio Control Unit This is a control unit from some 2-way mobile radio installation that I have not been able to identify. It was almost certainly a special installation used by the police. Since the frequencies this control unit can demand are 80.000- 84.975MHz and 96.000- 102.975MHz, which are close to the old police bands(before they changed in the mid-80's) The green label attached to the volume control says: OK 20/06/75" So that suggests a date for the unit. In the late 70's the Home Office was interested in radios that could operate within and across any police force. Which meant having the ability to cope with AM or FM, different channel spacings, and to tune to any channel throughout the frequency range assigned to the police. This control unit is somewhat remarkable in that it not only offers AM/FM switching ... moreand 25/50kc/s channel spacing. But also the facility to operate as either a police mobile or a police base station. The receiver and transmitter frequency controls cover both the mobile and base station bands. So its likely this control unit was part of some very special police radio installation, with such a wide range of capabilities. Internally. The control box has no active devices(that I can see) However the unit is professionally made, with high quality switches and very neat wiring. The frequency readout is backlit by 6 miniature bulbs. There are 24-way and 33-way Paignton connectors on the back, so the interconnecting cables must have been impressive! I offer this unit in the off-chance that someone has the matching receiver/transmitter unit. If anything is unclear please ask questions well before the end of the auction.
