This is a very nice vintage Cobra 138XLR. AM USB LSB. If you are looking at this radio than you know it has the 858 chip which gives one all sorts of flexibility. It has been modified for expand frequencies and the papers are a road map to these channels. I was going to install this in my 1970 Chevy Truck but decided to go with a TRC 449. The previous owner told me it was recently tuned and the weak components replaced. Because of its age I cannot offer a warranty but the last time it was fired up it worked as it should. Yaesu FT 51R VHF/UHF Dual Band Radio with PA-10 mobile charger/adapter!
Very nice and clean Yaesu FT-51R dual band radio. This radio has the neat crossband repeater option. Has a good working battery that seems to hold a charge fairly well. But it is the smaller battery so it's run time isn't as long as an extended battery pack(can get them here on ebay for $30-40) and it is pretty old so I would suggest buying a new battery if you intend to put a lot of transmit time on this radio. This includes the pictured PA-10 mobile adapter and this is a cool unit that allows you to run the radio from your cigarette lighter and have full 5 watt output and charge the battery too at the same time! Plus the backlight will stay on when using the PA-10 also, very nice for night time use and you can turn it off if you want as well. The PA-10 mobile adapter is a very rare unit and may possibly be more costly to purchase ... morethan the radio itself, not too mention it is very hard to find! However, I cannot find the mounting clip for the PA-10 but looks like it could be easily fabricated as it was a small flat piece of plastic that slid into a retaining slot on the PA-10 backside. Antenna is in good shape and the radio works well, has been a great radio but I just don't use it anymore since I bought a digital radio, I rarely ever used it and have had it since it was new. I purchased this radio last summer to use in my shack for 220 mhz, only to find out that there are no 220 repeaters in my area that I can get into. So the radio has been sitting on the bench unhooked ever since. It has all of the parts that came with it. Mic, 12V cord, mobile mount, mic holder, and screws. The mic and radio are the only things that have been removed from the bags. Everything else is still factory packed. Owners manual is still like new and in the box. The transmit is reported to be clean full quieting with good audio. The receive and squelch both work good with no issues. I got this Memorizer from another ham a few years ago and primarily used it only as a backup radio. Now I have two other"backups" in the shack. So ... moreI need to make some room by selling this one. The frequency dial display works well. All the frequencies light up and are easily readable.
