Slingerland 40s Vintage Hollywood Ace Radio King Snare Drum This is the very rare 8"x14" model. Aluminum cloud badge dates this one to'44/45. Exceedingly rare to find in the 8" deep shell. The vast majority of them are the 7" deep model. Wonderful unrestored unmolested condition. The original white marine pearl is in amazing condition. 8 Lugs top and bottom. No cracks in any of the lugs. The solid maple shell is in round and Remo heads fit fine. Top head is a very nice Renaissance Powerstroke. The bearing edges are like the day this fine drum shipped from the Chicago factory. Shell has a little typical rering separation. See pic. No extra holes. 1940's Slingerland Radio King 9 x 13 Tom Tom
A 1940's 9 x 13 Sparkling Blue Pearl(that's what they called Blue Sparkle back then) Slingerland Radio King Tom Tom! Radiio King Logo Calf Head on bottom, calf head on top too! Beavertail lugs, Stick Chopper Hoops. Radio King Dual Muffler. Typical factory pencil markings inside the Mahogany/Maple re-ring shell. As shown in one of the picture, the extra two holes are where the original mount was removed an a 50's/60's mount was added. In good condition, has upgraded chrome hardware, lugs and rims have some pitting but this drum should clean up nicely. Took pictures in broad daylight to get the best shots. Slingerland 24x14 Radio King WMP Bass Drum Early 1950s Slingerland Radio King 14x24 Bass Drum- Good condition. The white marine pearl wrap has checking around the entire drum- There are slight cracks shown around the whole shell including near the bearing edge. There are also a few wear marks(most likely from a tom) that expose wood. See photos) All of the hardware is original and has no issues- Nickel plating is in good condition and just needs to be cleaned. The drum does not have spurs. however does have the spur mounts. Beautiful 1930's Slingerland Radio King Snare Drum
From my personal collection of snare drums is this Nickel over Brass 6 1/2 x14. 8 lugs, white marine pearl Slingerland Radio King snare drum with brass hoops. The top bearing the engraved name“SLINGERLAND RADIO KING” in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. The shell is solid with reinforcing hoops. Top and bottom, with the drum weighing 8.97 lbs. The strainer. Which operates well, is 3-point and the snares are the extended type and straddled over the guards on both sides. The white diamond pearl covering has aged to a light yellow uniformly and evenly to produce a pleasing pearl covering and the wrap is extremely clean with no noticeable scratches. No gouges, tight at the seam with no separation. The badge dates this drum as having been made sometime in the 1930’s and more specifically because of the 6 screw brackets 1937 or 1938. ... moreThe tone control works well. And all parts appear to be original except for the plastic heads. In short this drum is a fine addition to any collector’s arsenal of vintage drums and in particular his/her Slingerland snares. Few snare drums of this make and model can be found in this absolutely beautiful condition and I can only visualiize the drum as appreciating in value as more years pass. It should go to a“good” home in which it will be well cared for and its full potential may be realized. The auction is limited to those residents of the lower 48 United State of America. Completely RESTORED. Re-wrapped Slingerland set comprised of shells from the late 40's to the 50's. Nickel hardware. 14 X 24, 14 X 22, 16 X 16 and 9 X 13. there is a matching 5.5 X 14 RK solid maple snare but not able to list it yet) Photos of shell interiors will be added soon. This set is all Radio King materials with the exception of the details listed above and it is a beautiful Players' set. No pretense here. It has"issues" that, instead of writing a short book here would prefer discussing as individual message conversations. It's that simple.Yes, I have used this set several times(one bd or the other) and they sound as classic Slingerlands should sound. ... moreThe 13 is the reason I built(wrapped and put together) all the other pieces. It is stamped 1959 and is the"newest" shell of all of them. That said, it is the one that someone else had re-wrapped in black, put some'wear' on the finish and had some different mount system on it. I just had to"cap" one hole after replacing the diamond mount plate. In fact, the bass drums are closer to late 40's as is the floor tom(which some lunatic painted RED inside and drilled other holes in it! I actually marked, drilled and installed the bottom set of casings and added leg brackets on the 16 because it was a tacked pigskin on the bottom originally. Pending interior photos will show these details. As I say, this is a"work" set, not a collectors item and it does the job beautifully well. As is obvious, the BD rims don't match. Both the wmp and the silver sparkle inlays are original to the rims though. If what you are looking for is a good looking(brought-back-from the dead" Slingerland late 40's/50's set, this is a good example. I've used this kit on several occasions in the last year when a small kit was needed and I got great feedback on how these drums sounded! Heads have all been replaced of course. Vintage 1940s Radio King Slingerland snare drum 7 by 14 solid maple shell nr
This is a 1940s Slingerland radio King 7 by 14 snare drum. This is a players drum. Not a museum piece. Funny thing is that I'm sure that the price of this auction will not represent how cool this truly is. This was found in a Louisville Kentucky pawn shop in the 1980s. Someone had drilled holes in the shell and intstalled a Tama strainer. The drum was taken to Jeff DeMarco at Guitar Emporium. Jeff was a famous guitar repair technician and did work for players like Billy Gibbons and Steve Miller and many others. Jeff carefully pluged the holes and refinished the drum. It turns out that the shell is actually birds eye maple and quite gorgeous. The aluminum wartime badge was refitted with a new grommet and a Chrome 3 point strainer was installed. Slingerland 5.5x14 Radio King Student Model snare in amazing condition! This snare features a 3 ply shell with a clean mahogany interior and maple reinforcement rings. Nickel plated hardware all around- 8 Sound King lugs. 3 Point strainer and nickel over brass single flange hoops with clips. Black& Brass Chicago badge with the'looped' S, no serial number. The drum has no date stamp. The drum looks phenomenal. It has some signs of use on the hoops. The hardware is very clean with some minimal micro pitting.The Black Diamond Pearl wrap is very clean and has no lifting anywhere on the drum. 1950's Slingerland Black Radio King 22" Bass and 12" Tom drumset 2 piece
Very rare Brass badg 1950's Black wrapped Radio King Bass drum with'58 stamped tom 22 x 14 Bass 12 x 8 Tom. Bass has the original brass badge which dates it to early 1950s and has calf skin heads with small holes. It has the old style Radio King Ts and claws for the bass hoops Tom is stamped 1958 Nickel lugs on both though the bass ones show more patina. One lug on the Tom is chrome. Sticksaver hoops on the Tom. Some snare rash on the Tom but this is otherwise in excellent condition with a very clean interior! Minty fresh wood inside. The bass drum shows its age and half the Ts and claws and hoop are original. The rest were collected and added to make the kit complete with Slingerland parts from the period. Includes extremely hard to find shell mount cymbal holder but not the cymbal L rod. Missing the spacer for the bolt. Bolts are ... morenot original. Includes a consolette. But not the tom mount part. AIR KING RADIO. Measures 7 inches wide and 5.5 inches high. I thought this might be interesting to American watchers. I think it's wonderful but sadly the case is in poor condition. Amazing how they crammed four valves into such a small space. This was given to me by my dad for my radio collection. All of which has to go. The case has been repaired and there are multiple breaks and cracks. I haven't tested it. Might be 110 volts, don't know. Gorgeous 1938 Air King Skyhawk AM Radio- Restored and Works Great! Up for sale is a beautiful 1938 Air King Skyhawk AM Radio. This radio has been restored. So it looks and plays great. It gets great reception and sounds excellent. The two tone finish and gold dial really make this set a knock out. It is a good looking radio. To see and hear the radio playing. Please click this link- Chassis- The chassis on this set is exceptionally clean. It has been electronically updated. So it plays great. All capacitors were replaced with modern equivalents. All resistors were checked and replaced as needed. The set was aligned and it gets great reception. The tubes all test good. The speaker is in excellent condition and really puts out a nice sound. All controls were cleaned and lubricated. The only flaw in the chassis is that the tone control does ... morenot work, but the radio sounds great. The power cord is new. The push buttons work, but will need to be set to your local stations. Cabinet- The cabinet has a stunning two tone finish. It was refinished with lacquer(the same way it was done in 1938) Everything is nice and tight and there are no loose joints. The dial cover is nice and clear and the dial lights up nicely. The set has the original bakelite knobs. But two of them have small chips on the back edges. There is also a rough edge on the veneer on the back edge of the set(see photo) Neither flaw is noticeable when the radio is displayed. All in all. This is a gorgeous Air King. Beautiful 50s Slingerland Radio King Outfit, 13/16/22+1 Ply Snare, Gold Glitter!
For your consideration is a beautiful. Playable piece of percussion history, an all-original Slingerland Radio King outfit with rarer 22" kick drum. This package spent much of its life since new in dry Arizona and thus has very minimal dicolouring or molding under the beautiful gold glass glitter wrap. All four shells are in amazing, original condition. The toms and kick drum include both bottom and top factory calfskin heads and all drums ALSO include Aquarian Modern Vintage batter heads for daily playing. These drums tune easily and sound phenomenal, with deep vintage tone that has excellent modern projection with the addition of the new heads. Condition notes: All four drums are absolutely original with no modifications or noticeable variations in hardware. The 13" rack tom is about two tones lighter than the bass drum. The snare ... moreabout one tone lighter. If you were using the Pantone Color scale to reference the shade of each drum, I would classify the kick and the floor tom a Pantone 138. The rack tom a Pantone 135. And the snare a Pantone 136(Google each number for reference) Needless to say. The outfit still matches wonderfully and the drums have consistent colour tone. All hardware is in excellent patina'd condition with nickel showing cosmetic surface haze. We have not attempted to gloss or polish the hardware to keep the outfit honest and original. Despite the light haze and light to medium surface patina. The nickel is still naturally bright on lugs, claws/t's, and hoops. Clamp-on-spurs and bass drum legs were not coated and are thus much duller with age. Bass Hoops are in original condition and have some checking and missing black paint. The wood of the hoops is in good shape. All four drums are in-round enough to fit modern heads without issue. Original calf heads fit very firmly but still function. Slingerland 70s WMP Radio King snare
I picked this up about 10 years ago on ebay. In my 13 years of insane ebay-ing I have NEVER seen another one of these. This one is straight out of the 76 catalog, possibly THE last year Slingerland made this. also the last year this drum was cataloged) Crazy rare factory original Radio King model. 5 1/2" 5 ply shell. Slingerland called it at that time their Uni-mold shell. 8 lugs all original RK set up with the original wires with the riveted stainless straps. Top hoop is brass, bottom is COS. The wrap is beautiful, the chrome is very nice. But there's pinpoint dots across the snare gates on the sides. I hesitate to even call it pitting, you can't even feel it. But it's there. Top hoop has a small scuff on the chrome exposing the brass(you can see it in the 1st pic) it's no big deal& even a little hard to see. There's ... morealso tiny scratches on the top hoop. Lugs are pretty good with light wear on the outer ends. Theres a few mismatched rods(4) I'm being picky here, overall this drum is simply gorgeous and sounds fantastic. Serial number puts it around 1976. If you believe the charts that are out there. I purchased my blakrome set new in 1977, my BK numbers start at 302, this snare is 208716. I bought this snare and immediately stored it away never doing anything with it. It's time to go to someone who will use it. And between it's looks and sound I don't think you can go wrong. And like I said. I've never seen another like it. By the 1970s these were no longer solid shell drums. Check the 1976 catalog to verify model and features. although the pic they used that year was from the 60s) Pics were taken in bright sunlight. The wrap looks as good on the entire drum as it does in the best areas shown in picture 1. There's NO fade. Shipping is just a guess. Exact quote will be given AFTER auction.

This is an excellent example of the Eveready Sky King portable valve radio dating from the early 1950s. To look at it you'd think it was only 2 or 3 years old. Externally it is very nice with only light wear and has an excellent dial and handle, inside is likewise and the chassis is like new. It will need a B136 battery, or equivalent power source, so I don't know if it is in working order but given its condition I don't think there can be much to worry about. It is a 4 valve receiver and has serial number SK050828. It starts at a fiver and could grace any collection. Listed for auction is a mid to later 1950's Slingerland Radio King ride tom. The size is the favored 9x13. The color is aqua blue sparkle. This tom is a transition 3ply African Mahogany vintage shell with the early wide reinforcement hoops. but sports the newer sound king hardware which consists of sound king lugs, and Slingerland chrome over brass rim shot counter hoops. Drum is 100% factory original with no modifications or extra holes. The interior is exceptional and the inside lug screws are shiny and clean. Muffler works great. Modern heads fit fine. with about a 3/4" free spin each way. These shells have a so called pregnant spot where the wrap is blended into the shell by design. and in most cases limits drum head selection. There is no fade with the finish and it really looks nice. The only issue is a line type scratch located ... morejust under the muffler knob. It's about 2" long and about 1/4 wide I did photo it.
