Most of them have just the flat rounds on both sides or they come with a brass curved basket. This one is all original. I think the basket may be brass or copper, and the scale itself is cast iron. It looks like somebody tried to cover the original red paint with black paint, but most of it is chipping off to show the original red. The basket has a couple minor dings and one of the basket holders arms has a slight curve to it. Wouldn't take much to straighten it out. This Vintage Jacob Bros. Detecto Scale is From A Resturant Auction. I don't know anything about it. It came out of the resturant and was used as a decoration. The scale has some paint loss/chips/rust/wear common for age. It's marked Detecto Scales No. 1 Cap. 16lbs. Or 8KG. New York NY USA. The bottom of the base is marked Jacob Bros. Inc. New York. Antique Detecto Scale, Brass Face, 200 lbs. by 1 lb. Heavy Jscobs Bros.
Brass face. On rectangu lar back. Detecto scale by Jac obs Bros. measuring up to 20 0 pounds by increments of 1 pound+ The face is mostly highly polished but there are a number of dents and dings which are shown on the scans 11S series. 11595 is ion the middle under the pointer. The diameter of the brass face is approximately 7 inches. Approximately 13 inches long with the top and bottom handles. The rectangular back is 8 inches long by 5 3/4 across and 2 inches deep. The scale seems to operate as it should. But may need to be calibrated if it is going to be put to use. Approximately 10 pounds with shipping material. Payment through PayPal. Vintage Ivory Cast Iron Baby Scale Detecto Jacobs Bros. Doctor
This nice old baby scale came along with some stuff I got at an auction. Doesn't go along with any of my collections. So looking for a new home for it, Too much history to throw it out! It is metal and cast iron made by the Jacobs Brothers. While the decal is pretty worn. It looks like Detecto ws the name of it. The baby part is 19" long and about 3" high. The base is 14" by 7" The balance knob turns. Has 2 pieces to the weights. A little rust on the top. But looks like could be sanded and repainted. Nice old piece. I cannot get the weights to come off and don't seem to accomplish anything when turn the balance wheel so cannot sell as a working item. Can be used for parts or makes a great display item. Antique Detecto Beam Type Baby Scale With Wicker Basket- Jacobs Bros. Manufactured in Brooklyn N.Y. Hospital Use Patent Nos. 1760898- 18318112 Found at an estate sale- 1930's Female Physician Charming scale that is in working condition and contains all of it's parts. Two we ights. Both read 10 lbs. although one is larger than the other. Wicker B asket is in great condition although it may need additional cleaning. Sc ale itself has small spots of rust and pitting on base(see photo 2) and small working parts. And the underside is not painted. I've given it two cleanings and considering it was stored in a garage. It looks pretty darned good. However it still needs additional cleaning around scr ews and other small working mechanisms. This is a very nice working scale with all parts that needs a little more TLC to clean off remaining ... moresurface rust and dirt. From the chain link on top of the scale to the bottom of the basket is approx. 31" I recently aquired the scale set up at a local auction and thought that someone would like to purchase it as I already have a hanging scale in my home. Vintage DETECTO #31S Series Hanging Produce Scale Grain Bin 30 Pound Capacity
You are bidding on a vintage DETECTO#31S Series hanging produce scale with a grain scoop. This scale was manufactured by Detecto Scales Inc. in Brooklyn. New York. It registers 10 pounds, but has a maximum capacity of 30 pounds. When the bin is removed, this scale will zero out, but will not quite with the bin attached. It appears to be in good working condition. There are some small spots on the interior of the glass, and there is a slight amount of corrosion to the chain, and the bin, but overall this scale is in good condition. The face of this scale measures 10" in diameter, and 2 ½" thick. The bin measures 18" by 12 ½" and 5" deep. Shipping fees are determined by winning bidder's zip. Vintage Detecto Grocery Scale 20lb x 1oz capacity
Detecto Class III Scale. Made by the Detecto Scale Company of Webb City, MO. I do not know the year of manufacturer, none can be found. I would guess its from the late 60's early 70's based on the styling of the numbers and the bright sanitary white on the scale. It was unopened. Still heat sealed in plain cardboard. So it was very well protected, I found it in the attic of an abandoned grocery store. It probably had sat there for 20 plus years, it has a slight amount of corrosion on the chrome. However the white paperboard and white metal are in perfect condition. I do no have the chains or tray that go with it. It still works and just needs to be zero'd out. The foot plate seems to be a pink coated metal with glitter flecks and subtle starburst design. The base of the scale is a faded pink showing some wear and rust. Bottom has 4 red plastic slides to protect your floor. Scale has been lightly wiped down. But could use a thorough cleaning. Scale measures approx 9 1/4" wide x 11 1/2" long x 2 1/2" tall.
