John Deere 404 Diesel Engine Running
FIRST OFF. I AM NOT POSITIVE IF THIS IS A 404. I could not find a tag on it, like are on some 404's or Deere engines. I have a 404 Turbo in my shed that looks just like this engine but it has a tag. If anyone can tell me I would appreciate it. It was pulled out of a 6600 combine that was a Hydro& Sidehill, so I just assumed they had the bigger 404 engine. Serial# of the combine was 255720H if that helps anyone. Was a later model. had rotary screen. I pulled this out of a combine I bought from a farmer that had been using it as a parts machine for his other 6600. They said it had been a few yeas since it ran. I got it home, hooked up fresh fuel, primed it& fired her up. The oil was at a good level. Starter seems fine. Has no pulley on the water pump so I only ran it bout 10 minutes. Seemed to run fine to me. Did not appear to smoke. ... moreHad great oil pressure. The throttle response seemed a little slow when you would hit the lever forward. Maybe a while of running fresh fuel through it would help. If you moved it slowly it worked fine. No big deal really. The hour meter read 4300plus hours do not know if it worked. I did not run it long enough to tell if it had moved. It is a complete engine. Starter, alternator,Roosa Master pump& flywheel are all on it. It is sold as is. I will not ship, please do not ask. Easy to load here. Must be fully paid for within 7 days of the end of the auction, no exceptions. Not paid for, you will be reported& it will be relisted. John Deere 329 Diesel Engine Power Unit Irrigation Tractor Combine
This is a good running 329 diesel out of a John Deere 6600 combine. It has around 3900 hours on it. Hour meter did work. I bought the combine at auction& drove it home about 20 miles. That's all I did with it. Just bought for parts. It ran fine, did not get warm& had good oil pressure. Did seem to have some blow by as most engines will do this old. The#s on the engine tag are, 6329DH 01, serial# 345036 T. I do not have the combines serial# sorry. This is a complete engine, what you see is what you get. The only bad thing is, there is a hole in the oil pan. When pulling the engine, it popped free& hit a pulley& put a whole in the pan. Pan is not all crushed in, just a couple small holes. I do not know much about these engines but was told they were used for power units& irrigation pumps. Should work in some tractors ... morewith a little work. John Deere 4400 Diesel Combine w/ 444 Corn Head and Grain Head
John Deere 4400 diesel combine. This combine is in excellent condition. Always greased and kept in the shed. Included is a 444 John Deere corn head. 4 row wide head 38" rows) And a model 100 grain head. I used this to combine 80 acres and it saw the John Deere dealer before each season. All belts and chains are in good shape. Diesel 359 6 cylinder engine. Serial# 351904H. This combine has only 1513 actual hours. Heads never sat outside. I combined 30 acres of oats with the grain head last year. Has a 4 speed transmission with hydro speed control. Has a heater and a C.B. radio that work. The cab is in good shape and all the foam padding is good in the cab. I didn't get a picture of the grain head, but it is in good shape. 10 ft green 100 with yellow reel and a newer sickle.
