This is a great unit if you want to run 220/240V appliances here in the USA or 110/120V appliances in Europe. I bought it when i moved to the US but being handy I installed a 220V supply from my main board so i did not use this for long. Since then It's been sitting in my garage. For auction are four Vintage RCA MI-12399 Step Up Transformers. These were originally designed as microphone input transformers but have been used successfully as step-up transformers for moving-coil phonograph cartridges. They have a primary of 250R center-tapped and a 50K secondary. The turns ratio is 1:14. All four have been tested with a 1 volt AC signal sent into the primary. Then measured at the secondary for the appropriate step-up voltage. No DC measurements were taken in order to avoid magnetizing the cores. All of these transformers are working perfectly and are guaranteed. Based on the 830 EIA on the tops of the cans I suspect these were made by Triad in 1949 and 1951 but I have no way of confirming this. Two of the transformers have matching date codes. For auction is one Vintage Don McGohan MC-1 Microphone Transformer. This transformer was designed for microphone inputs but could also be used as a moving-coil phonograph cartridge step-up transformer. The Don McGohan transformers were made in Chicago and have the same pinout as the Altec 4722. This transformer has a 250R primary which can be tapped at 50R or 200R. The secondary is 50K. This transformer has been tested by inserting a 1v 1kH AC sine wave into the primaries and measuring the output at the secondary. No DC measurements were made to avoid magnetizing the transformer core. The case is very clean but note that there is what looks like a glue or epoxy residue around the key-pin of the base. K&K Basic MC Phono Step-Up Kit The Basic Kit has the very good Lundahl LL9206 transformers incorporating what was learned in the development of the LL1931. It offers across-the-board better perfomance than its predecessor. The Basic unit can be set up for 14. 20 or 26 dB of gain when equipped with LL9226 transformers. Alternatively, the Basic kit can also be supplied with LL1678 transformers for 18, 24, or 30dB of gain, if you have a particularly low output MC cartridge or low gain phono preamplifier. The gain configuration is achieved by soldering jumpers on the PC board supplied with the kit. Sockets for resistors on the secondary side of each transformer are provided on the PC board so that the user can optimize resistive loading for the best sound. 2x Vintage RCA/Triad Microphone or Moving Coil Cartridge Step-Up Transformer
For auction are a two Vintage RCA MI-12377-D Microphone Input Transformers. These have the 830 EIA number indicating that they were made by Triad. The MI prefix is for Microphone Input. These could also be used as moving-coil phonograph cartridge step-up transformers. I have not been able to find any published information about these transformers but I was able to take some DC measurements. The primary wires are yellow. Green, and black. A 1K 1v AC sine wave across either the yellow/black or green/black pair induces around 27.2v across the secondary(pink/blue pair) The same signal across the yellow/green pair produces 13.7v across the secondary. The brown wire is a shield/ground. The voltage measurements are exact to within less than a tenth of a volt between all the primaries on both transformers so these were made with a tight manufacturing ... moretolerance. I have no idea what the frequency response of these transformers are and make no guarantees about how suitable these would be for HiFi. But they are guaranteed to function properly. All measurements have been done with AC only to avoid magnetizing the transformer cores. I am happy to do any other basic tests on these requested by bidders.
