Antique PHILCO 421 TUBE TESTER Very Early 2-Digit Radio TEST METER Vtg DATA BOOK
Up for auction is a very early Philco model 421 tube tester with operating instructions/ data book and carrying case with leather handle. Tests only the very early 2-digit and octal radio tubes. There are sockets for 4-pin thru 7-pin and octal types, and no test sockets for 7- or 9-pin miniature tubes. In working condition, powers up and the Line Adjust meter(to the left of main meter) works and lights up fine, internal tube lights up fine, but note that I have not tested further as I didn’t want to have powered up for long as all circuit components are original– capacitors, dogbone resistors, etc. Was a high end tube tester in its day, with 3 transformers and lots of components inside. Front panel in VG condition with only light wear and some stains, all knobs present, meter works fine and glass window excellent(note the zero adjust screw ... moreis chipped) tube sockets in great shape(and none cracked or broken) The wood carrying case shows the usual wear, leather handle in good shape. Up for auction is a Hickok radio test set. The model on the unit itself is TS-997A/U. The model number on the case and manuals is AN/URM-113(or 113A) I am guessing that the TS-997A/U and AN/URM-113 are identical.Because the illustrations in the 113 manuals are identical the the 997A/U. I am not sure which radio set this unit worked with. The manuals are dated 1959. So I am assuming it is used with a particular military radio set that was common in that era. I have not attempted to power the unit. And it is being sold as-is. The unit is in very nice physical shape, with the exception being the hinges which show rust. Thanks for looking. Offered for auction is a nice vintage Precision Tube Tester Model number10-12 serial number 8205 made by the Precision Apparatus Company in the U.S.A. The tester comes with two original Precision Books including a Supplementary Tube Data for tubes that are not included on the built in roll chart and and the other is Tube Test Data which mainly mirrors the roll chart but has lots of other information for tubes not on the chart such as Novars and Compactrons and some later tubes. The tester is in excellent working condition and the front operators panel is actually in very nice original condition showing very minimal wear however the wood case does show obvious wear from years of reliable use. I have used this tester personally in the past and it has always been very accurate with readings consistantly in concert with my Hickok 539C. This is a very interesting Western Electric test set. This is a model 911A data test set. This set contains a test sentence generator. Power supply and distortion measuring set. The test sentence generator has test data stored on a plug-in magnetic core memory module. This test set also has 2 additional magnetic core memory modules stored in a compartment in the case. The magnetic core memory modules can be swapped through an access door on the top of the test set. I have tested this by using a jumper from the test sentence generator"volt out" to the distortion measuring set"volt in" You can see the data stored on the magnetic core memory module displayed on the two pixie display tubes. I tried this with all three magnetic core memory modules and two of them displayed data. The third one either does not have data stored ... moreon it or is not working.
