Of course, the world's largest makers of video cameras, in both the Pro and Amateur segments, and indeed 2010 is the 25th anniversary of the Handycam, as Sony calls it, and so a fitting year to introduce a truly new category. Though there are a great many DSLRs that now shoot decent video. Most are highly compromised in this role by their inappropriate form factor. The VG-10 turns the tables and puts a large sensor(in video terms) into a camcorder. It also offers interchangeable lenses, something that one hasn't been able to find in the video marketplace till now in camcorders much under about $7,000. It looks like a camcorder. It shoots like ... morea camcorder. But it's also a stills camera. But reviewing the VG10 requires a different perspective than one would bring to a regular camcorder both because of the device's special capabilities as well as its limitations. For this reason I'm going to briefly describe the camera and then break down my comments into sections devoted to both its strengths and weaknesses. The VG10's Foundation At its core the VG10 camcorder is much like the Sony NEX5 which I reviewed here not long ago. It uses the same sensor and has much the same menu structure. It features the new Sony NEX E lens mount. And unlike the Sony A mount 35mm DSLRs image stabilization is built into the lenses, rather than the body. There are currently three lenses in the lineup, a 16mm f/2.8, 18-55mm and an 18-200mm. The later two lenses have built-in stabilization. The 16mm has none. The VG10 is an AVCHD camcorder which captures 30P video at 24Mbps. The NEX5 captures at 17Mbps. Which should give the VG10 an advantage when it comes to motion capture clarity. Four pack LED panel battery powered kit with power and car adapter with stands
This auction is for four lights that come in a bag. This was not a"photo" store purchase. As these are general use lights, but I got them for a project where I needed continuous lights that were battery powered, long lasting, and very portable. I was already using a larger 500 LED panel in my studio, but it required electricity, so I thought I'd make my own kit by getting four of these lights and a duffle bag with shoulder strap to store and carry them in. Before posting this auction. I plugged them in a gave them a full charge to make sure they were still in working order before listing them for sale and also did a test to see how long the battery would last if the light were left on. It was over three hours before it needed a recharge. The bag that they are in is not an official case or anything, it's just a black duffle ... morebag that was the right size. It has a small tear in the fabric by where the zipper on the top is. I put safety pins on the inside, which are working fine to hold the fabric and keep the tear from growing. Other than that, the bag is in good shape and has an adjustable shoulder strap, as well as a zippered pocket on the side. The lights do show some minor wear. And for some reason, the little black screw heads show some rust color. The lights have never been around water, so I'm guessing it's from the humidity in the air by the beach where I live. The little black screws are not ones you need to worry about for adjustment, all of the adjustment nuts and bolts are fine. HERE IS WHAT IS INCLUDED A total of four of these lights. Which I believe have 130 LED lights in them each. Sorry, I don't know the measurement of output balance or exact color temperature(though I can say they are closer to daylight balanced than incandescent) These lights are bigger than the little ones that some people are mounting on top of their DSLR cameras for video. However it only fires at 400ws, the power setting switch does nothing to lower the power. I kept this around as a back up pack to my other power packs.
