Available for auction is a very nice Aerovox Capacitor Tester and Resistance Bridge. This device would make an excellent addition to one's vintage radio workshop. Over all. The unit is in very good shape. I have tried it and it works surprisingly well. The only fault I can find with it is the fact that the power cord is quite worn and should be replaced. Likewise, as is the case with all vintage electronics of this era, it may be wise to replace the paper and electrolytic capacitors. Over all, it's a beautiful example of an early piece of service equipment and it would make a beautiful addition to any antique radio collection or antique radio service bench. I am downsizing due to age and health and must let go of this and other items. It should make a fun and enjoyable piece for other vintage radio enthusiasts. Up for sale is a very nice Solar model CE capacitor EXAM-ETER analyzer tester. I have done a restoration on this and it is excellent condition. It really only needed a good cleaning and touch up of some very very minor paint imperfections. This tester dates from the late 1930's to the early 1940's but you would never know it by looking at it. As you can see the chrome bezel is excellent condition(it was polished to a mirror shine) as is the face plate, scratch free glass meter lens and housing. The leather caring handle was a little dry so I removed it and treated it with Neatsfoot Oil so it is nice and pliable and should last another several decades. The only thing that is ... morenot original in this is the brand new 3 pin grounded power cord that I just installed, the chassis is now grounded to keep you safe. All three tubes were removed and tested on a mutual conductance tube tester and tested as new. Judging by the condition of this I seriously doubt it was ever used, the tubes sure don't show any signs of being used since they all tested in brand new condition. All rotary controls, potentiometers and switch's have been cleaned with Caig DeoxIt and then treated with Caig Deoxit Shield. Pictured is a 80uF 450 volt Sprague Atom capacitor being tested. If you look in the background at the panel meter you will see it showing 450 volts just as the meter on the tester does, also pictured is the capacitor leakage at.03mA after 4 hours of reforming it with this tester. Also pictured is the capacitance measurement of a little over 80uF with the meter nulled. A full instruction manual with schematic is included with the tester. I seriously doubt you are going to find another one of these in such nice condition, I just don't need it, I already have 9 other ones I use on a regular basis for testing and reforming. Well, since it sat for a long time on the shelf so i'm selling as is no guarantee for anything because this is a vintage 50 years old model but i did some basic test on it found it still work good, no further test has been done to it, pictures are showing every corner of it even inside still looks intact just like it was made yesterday, very clean and never been abused or repaired, except the outside look of the cabinet the paint is getting old showing some scratch here and there and one light dent on one bottom corner, it comes with its original manual and the probe for tests. I don't know if the dial is supposed to light up but the test signal light came on when I touched the leads together for a second- so powers on but no further testing was done. Some paint missing and surface scratches on case. Leads and power cord seem to be in good shape. Switch toggles as it should. I have the box. But it is in pretty rough shape, so won't include it. B&K Precision Model 801 Capacitor Analyzer/Tester
This is a very nice B&K Capacitor analyzer. It works perfectly. Although it may need to be calibrated. It includes the original manual with schematic, the original test leads, and the power cord has been upgraded to a safer 3 prong with ground. No dings or damage to anything, and it has been gone through and fully tested. So why would you want to have this big piece of kit when there are DMM that will test capacitor values? Well this unit really shines at testing for leakage at operating voltages, whether it is a coupling cap or an electrolytic cap. This is a Sprague Tel-Ohmike Model TO-5 Capacitor Tester/ Analyzer. It comes from the estate of a radio controlled airplane hobbyist who built his own airplanes and radio controls. He was a perfectionist and I would be surprised is it did not work"all the way" We plugged it in and it lights up as we would expect. However, it has not been tested so we are selling it as is. We did replace the power cord as the original one was a bit frayed and we did not want to take a chance on it shorting out or anyone getting hurt. Cosmetically it looks good with no scratches or dents in the metal case. The leather carrying strap is still very solid. all the buttons. Switches, and dials work freely, as they should.
