One uses a tone generator like a Progressive Electronics 77HP to make an audio signal on a telephone line, and then one uses this 200FP tool at a junction box and/or demarcation block to identify which ring and tip pair in the giant mass of wires is the telephone line which is supposed to be worked on. This is a better quality inductive amplifier than most others available, because it has three types of high-quality noise filtration, to filter out all 60Hz and 60Hz harmonics and any other kinds of AC interference or noise interference that might make wire identification more difficult.
