These wonderfully clear and crisp bino culars have been in my c loset for some time. But I knew little about them. I always marveled at their excellent optics, with a little research. It is clear as to why- they were made by Carl Zeiss in Germany during WWII! Here is some information I've been able to glean about them: The WWII 7x50 U-Boat binocular was designed by Carl Zeiss Jena specifically for use in the Kriegsmarine submarine environment. They have a rugged water-proof cast-metal body shell with heavy rubber armor. The original neck strap is supple and not brittle and comes with the bino culars. The binocular weighs 3.62 lbs. It is 3.6" tall and 8.8" wide. U-Boot crews spent a very limited time on the surface. So the focusing was set to infinity for each individual sailor that was on watch. A lens, not just any lens, but the Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 2.8/80 screw mount, no. 3892836. we think this particular lens is also somewhat old, as finding the exact lens proved nearly impossible, there were many that were close, on the internets. Barrel has seen its days, has a number of sorts etched in one area, usual scratches and wear that is normal with a lens that has been used over the years. Glass is clear, does not appear to be any haze, or fungus, very little dust, focus works good, aperture blades appear to work well. CARL ZEISS JENA MICROSCOPE w/OAK CASE& OBJECTIVES IN CASES This is an antique Carl Zeiss Jena microscope. This beautiful brass and japanned black microscope comes in its original box/carrying case. There are three objectives. Each with its own carrying case. They are all brass: 8 is marked"A" and 2.0, 40 is marked"D" and 0.65, 90 is marked H1 and 1.25 and also 1/12" It is very tiny) There are two ocular lenses- the 10X and the 7X. The lens and cases are all in really nice condition. The microscope is missing the inside wheel for the fine adjustment and also some piece near the top(see picture#5) The oak case has been repaired. It had been cracked in half near the bottom and now it has two screws and is once again solid. You can also see a crack running down the top but the case is solid. The case size is 14 1/4" ... morex 7" x 9 1/2" tall. Buy to use. Display, repair, or parts. This is very old and what is missing on the microscope does not really have a big effect on usefulness. Complete with its original(really cute! leather pouch case. In ver y good condition. The purse is a little worn. Or perhaps more accurately'aged' but absolutely oozes character. A manual focus Carl Zeiss Jena Electric 135mm f3.5 Sonnar lens with a built-in retractable lens hood in M42(Pentax screw) mount. Here we have. What I believe is a rather nice old set zeiss jena telactem 8x binoculars and case, serial no. 288779. I belive these are WW1 era. Overall the binoculars are in pretty good shape cosmetically, with some but not heavy use. Case needs the lid sewing back on. One of the lens has a line, like some resin stuck on the inside( it doesn't look like a crack) If you look through them properly( ie use them) you cant see this. They are quite stiff to adjust, so I would suggest these be good for refurbishment and would make a nice example.

The lens is in truly excellent cosmetic and perfect working and optical condition with smooth focusing. Snappy aperture and clean glass. There is no fungus, no haze or mold. No scratches and no cleaning marks anywhere on the lenses. No coating damage either. I bought and sold literally hundreds of dog lenses, and this one is in a truly great condition. Although, I would not call it"mint" if you want mint, please look elsewhere. This lens does have signs of use- it's a used lens, and quite an old one after all! There are a few usage marks on the metal barrel(but NOT on the glass! Please see pictures. The lens comes in its original hard leather case.
