Although only marked"Made in France" I'm pretty ... morecertain that this compass was manufactured by Testrite. Testrite compasses were made in both Germany and France but this particular one is marked"Made in France" on the dial. It was most likely manufactured in the 1930's or 1940's. The dial is silver plated metal unlike many which have a paper dial. The case is brass and measures 1-7/8" 47mm) in diameter x 3/8" 10mm) thick. It has a heavy, beveled edge, glass crystal. There is a ring loop(bail or bow) attached to the case at the South(S" marker on the dial. Fully functional and accurate with no liquid inside. It has a transit lock damper controlled by a lever on the side to prevent movement of the needle when you have fixed the position of the compass or when you are carrying it. The silver metal dial has indications/markers for the Cardinal and Half-Cardinal points. The needle is tinted dark blue for the North indication. The compass is in very nice condition. The bail or bow is secure. The crystal isn't chipped, cracked, flaked, or chiggered, the case is free of dents and dings, and the needle is sensitive and accurate. Up for auction is a really nice condition 1945 Boyt Scabbard for a USMC Corpsman Bolo. This scabbard is in great condition with NO dry cacking and all the stitches are tight. The leather is still soft and pliable. Brass gaurd still has its original shape and all 3 rivets in perfect shape. This is the"type 2" Boyt Scabbard. This was the second Boyt scabbard issued for the wwii corpsman bolos. It will fit all of the different makers of the Corpsman bolos. this one is still soft enough to fit all of the different makers. And the bayonet has a stamp of a crown and anchor on the edge of the bottom of the blade. Also it is marked on the crossguard on one side"1 K5 No 59" and the other side"159. There is another crown mark on the metal part of the handle under the barrel ring. The bayonet is in good shape with some nicks in the blade as well as the barrel ring being bent. The blade is a bit dull. There are no cracks in the wooden handle. The scabbard is in good shape with some light surface corrosion. It's a great rare bayonet. Or Carabinieri, beret with flaming grenade(symbol of the gendarmerie) cap badge. Overall in very good condition with some slight signs of use. Beret size is 57 and was made by Alfa Geri of Mantevarchi. The badge is vintage white metal with copper pin back(see images) The white on the edge of the beret appears to be paint, odd, and flakes off rather easily with no damage below.
