The lens itself is marked Spencer Lens Co 41929. 4MMN AP.0.75. I would describe the condition of the piece as far as appearance goes as very good with expected fine scratches and nice patina. I have no way of knowing if the lens glass itself is functional but it appears to be unblemished. The overall approximate dimensions of the canister are: height- 1 3/4" diameter 1" top, 7/8" bottom. And has a'1' marked on it. Square. Solid stage for placing specimens on Extra deep throat for working with larger specimens. This was not a student model but a professional instrument. The upper body inclines for easier focusing of light and use. Substage condensor and diapraghm are both working condition Both sides of the substage mirror are working and in nice condition. Nice golden lacquer on objectives and wheels. Square stage with one slide holder, fine focus working and gross focus working as well. Marked'66' in red paint on rear of horseshoe base(probably for medical school work) While it could use some cleaning, it is a mechanically sound instrument showing signs of wear that could be nicely cleaned up for use. Optics are usable, noting some needed cleaning and signs of wear. I could easily see the fibers in a piece of paper with writing on it. It would make a great display piece for the office. Desk, or a great"real" microscope for the kids to play with. Bausch and Lomb. Long associated with optics manufacturing, first made spectacles, and later microscopes and accessories. Their first microscope was produced in 1874. Microscopes were produced sparingly in the early years, with only 150 serial numbers on record in the first year 1876, and less than 2000 total made by 1883. 1950 Vintage Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Microscope
This listing is for a vintage 1950 Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Trinocular Microscope. The serial number indicates and confirms that this is in fact from 1950. The base is a horse-shoe shape and has two strength of magnifying mirrors on the bottom. From base to top it measures 15" high. The three lenses read the following: 1) A = 0.25 10:1. 2) A= 0.65 45:1, 3) A=1.30 100:1. It comes in a beautiful black finish and was owned by a doctor during the 50's. Up for auction is a vintage LOMO microscope which was manufactured in 1979 by the maker LOMO in St Petersburg. Russia. The microscope seems to be in working condition, however unable to verify as there is no top eye piece. The light does operate as it switches on and off. There are five different lens and all knobs turn easily. There is a sticker indicating that the microscope was sold as a used item by a scientific equipment reseller. This is an original vintage J Lizars of Glasgow and Edinburgh Scotland scientific microscope in its original wood box. It is made of a very heavy metal. Maybe cast iron. It measures 12 inches or 31 cm in height. The front of the slide stand is signed J Lizars Glasgow Edinburgh Etc. The base is signed HB2. The side is also signed Luxima. The mirror has a small crack on one corner edge. The box is made of wood with dovetail edges. It has an inside metal tag that says J Lizars Optician and Photographic Dealer Buchanan Street Glasgow and Branches. The box has two outer metal hook closures and measures 12 1/2 inches in legnth, 5 1/2 inches in height and 4 1/2 inches in depth. This is a vintage Ernst Leitz#966 XL industrial size microscope. It is as found. Needs cleaning. I know next to nothing about these so I don't know if this is a parts item or what. All the knobs turn easily, things go in and out and up and down, etc. I am including extra lenses that I think go with this microscope. This was found mounted on a 6 ft- 50 pound rail. I have the rail and will include it, but I WILL NOT SHIP THE RAIL you have to pick this up. It's too big and heavy to ship without tons of hassle. I have a vintage Bausch& Lomb microscope that has been stored for many years in a storage shed. The microscope has a number on the front: 282199- possible 40's– 50’s. All knobs work freely and lenses look alright. The adjusting plate knob(two knobs exist side by side on the plate area) outside knob appears to be bent. But still works perfect. Microscope used to be part of the Arkansas State Board of Health. And is marked this in three areas(see Pics. Top lens is marked W10X-15.5MM. Bottom three are 97X. 43X, and 10X. Microscope is dirty here and there. And needs to be cleaned. Also included is a working light source 120v lamp with an on/off switch– all works. And lights up as shown. Advances in science and a growing interest in science fiction marked mid-century America. So it is no surprise that a popular“boys” gift in the 1960s was a microscope. Usually accompanied by prepared slides, like these, to jumpstart a budding scientist. The 12 prepared microscope slides of starch grains in this vintage Tasco set include: potato; sweet potato; rice; barley; wheat; Indian corn; bean; broad bean; red bean; pea. Braken(I think this is a type of large fern and should be spelled“bracken” and arrowroot. My research indicates that George Rosenfield founded Tasco in 1954. I believe this set likely dates to the 1960s. The box has a wooden slide holder. The slides measure about 2-3/8 inches by 3/4 inches. The microscope is small. Approx. 5 x 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches. It is blue in color with"Stellar 150X" on the front. It comes with 3 glass slides and a pair of tweezers(not sure if tweezers are original to the set) All pieces come in the original blue and gold box. The has a timeline history of the now public limited company which notes they were founded in 1914 and are'the largest optical manufacturer in Russia' LOMO microscope model names(in UK) Some types of stand had names. Often seen on a limb label in Cyrillic. English equivalents were used to describe the UK models: BIOLAM- biological stand. BIMAM- an advanced biological stand. METAM- metallurgical stands. POLAM- polarising stands. The monocular outfits with rotating. Centering stage. The data sheets refer to a number of these stands as'Biolam 70' and seen on black limb label in Cyrillic. Note black serial no. plate. Supplied with 4x eyepiece. Made in USSR.
