Striking Seibert Microscope in its Original Case. Germany. 1910-20. In Working Order This fine article is an original Seibert microscope. Made in Germany in the early 20th century(between 1910 and 1920) The instrument is in really good condition and comes with its original wooden case, where we can also find some accessories and an instruction booklet in German. The microscope has an iron body with bird-foot or horseshoe base, and component parts made of polished brass and chromed metal. Both metals are in excellent condition, with no traces of rust. Moreover, the brass keeps the original transparent protecting lacquer. In the piece that holds the microscope’s turret we can see an engraved inscription: Seibert in Wetzlar, with the serial number 14677. This firm was founded in 1867 by Wilhelm and Heinrich Seibert. The company went through ... moremany financial problems and was located in Berlin. But in the end it established in Wetzlar. The Seibert brothers were associated with George Krafft until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1917 the manufacturing problems made the company collaborate with the powerful manufacturer Ernst Leitz. After the second Seibert brothers’ decease in 1925, his son Wilhelm took over the company. He died in 1931 and in 1938 the firm was definitely taken over by Leitz. Seibert microscopes. Just like the one we can see in these images, are renowned by their careful making and their precision. This article is a good example of these products’ quality. The microscope has a three-lens revolving nosepiece and comes with an extra eyepiece, as well as a number of brass and metal sleeves designed to protect the accessories. The microscope’s case is made of solid mahogany wood; inside it contains two wooden stands for the pieces and an extra drawer. It preserves the original lock and key, and also the metal handle. You are bidding on a Vintage Microscope. I know little to nothing about microscopes but I googled the markings and I will attempt to describe this to the best of my abilities. I got this from an Old Estate Sale. This was a quality sale of well kept items. I believe this microscope to be vintage but I have no idea how old it actually is. I do not know if all of the parts and pieces on this are original to this microscope or not. I also do not know if there are pieces missing from this microscope. This Microscope measures approx. 10 1/4" tall when in its lowest position. The bottom base lens is rounded. The round opening this lens sits in measures approx. 2 5/16" across. This round opening has an approx. 1/8" metal band sleeve around it. This metal band sleeve has 4 approx. 1/16" round holes and these holes appear to be ... morethreaded. This rounded lens can be raised and lowered by moving the lever on the side(under the stage part the slide would lay on) This lever reads Schwach- Vergr- Stark. When the lever is on the Stark end the rounded lens is all the way down and it raises as you slide the lever towards Schwach. The piece which I believe is called the Slide Holder is engraved Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany. This has two knobs. One knob moves the slide holder side to side and the other knob moves it in and out. These move with precisioned ease when turning in either direction. there are three lenses on this. Two are chrome looking and one is black. These are threaded into a disc which allows you to move them around. Each will stop when you get to the shaft eyepiece. The black lens is unmarked. One lens is marked Leitz Wetzlar Germany 170/0.17 C 25/0.50. One lens is marked Leitz Wetzlar Germany 170/ C 10/0.25. There is a threaded knob on a shaft that.
