This is one of the more rare Bausch& Lomb American Type microscope models. It was only manufactured over just a brief 3-year period from 1889 to 1891. The featured instrument is very similar in design to the B&L“The Model” microscope. But it lacks the rack and pinion focus mechanism and is built upon a horseshoe shaped foot with rectangular pillars instead of the“Y”shaped foot with round pillars that characterized“The Model. This instrument bears the name of the manufacturer in fancy script on the top rear face of the circular stage. Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Please see the accompanying close-up image of this inscription) However, this instrument does not bear a typical serial number. For some unknown reason, Bausch& Lomb did not inscribe serial numbers on their earlier microscopes. Instead, they stamped the serial number of the instrument in the front lip of the floor of the wood case that they normally supplied with the microscope. Fortunately, the Cherry wood case that accompanies this instrument has the serial number stamped into the front floor of the case(see close-up image) The serial number“6890” dates the instrument to the year 1889, which plac

Antique Microscope Lens Brass Canister Spencer Lens Co Buffalo NY Early 1900s?
Offered here with no hidden reserve a Spencer Lens Co. microscope lens(I believe this is called an objective) in a brass canister. The lens itself is marked Spencer Lens Co 41929. 4MMN AP.0.75. I would describe the condition of the piece as far as appearance goes as very good with expected fine scratches and nice patina. I have no way of knowing if the lens glass itself is functional but it appears to be unblemished. The overall approximate dimensions of the canister are: height- 1 3/4" diameter 1" top, 7/8" bottom. Antique brass folding Bausch & Lomb portable microscope model BHP, full set
Offered for auction is a fine Bausch& Lomb portable microscope Model BHP S.N. 74484. Dating to 1908. This full research microscope is housed compactly in a 29 x 19 x 8 cm mahogany carrying case. It sets up by simply spreading the hinged base. Then swinging the stage 90 0 and locking it into place. The profile of this instrument features an integrated"jug handle" cut into the squared off limb. A design that became popular among some producers between ca. 1900 and 1920. This B&L"Portable Microscope Model BHP" has all the features and rigidity of their research stands. But in a convenient traveling form. Not many of these microscopes were produced, because their price was over two times the price of a regular B&L Model BH desk-top microscope. Reference: The Billings Collection catalogue: P. 127 No. AFIP 49447; ... morep. 118. Fig. 223. The original optics that come with this microscope are all signed by Carl Zeiss. The set even has the original Eder immesion oil in an original bottle fitting a special slot inside the case. The case is complete. The inner and outer condition is very good. The original brass lock is completely functional but the original key was missing when I bought the set. However, the microscope will be supplied with a modern fitted key that enables safe locking and unlocking of the case. This is an extremely well-preserved set of an early scientific instrument. Produced by one of the most respected American maker with optic made by the best German maker of the time. During the early 20th century, B&L and Carl Zeiss formed a partnership hence the combined features of this microscope. This is a rare item in excellent condition that will suit every serious collection. I list it with low starting bid and no reserve. Please note: This is a private listing. I will not sell it outside eBay. Please don't address me with such requests. Please note: The accompanying array of images of the microscope and its Mahogany case taken from various angles are a part of this statement

Antique BAUSCH & LOMB 2 objective BRASS MICROSCOPE Beautiful Vintage Science!
Up for a No Reserve Auction is a Vintage Bausch& Lomb Microscope in its original box! This one of many auctions to come from the estate of a doctor who was a photography enthusiast. He loved cameras. And all the gear associated with photography. He took wonderful care of all of his collection! Check my other auctions. As more vintage camera gear will be joining this listing. I will happily combine shipping. This microscope has two objectives. They are marked. Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester N.Y. 2/3 0.24 N.A. Tube Length 160.0 M.M. and"Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester N.Y. 1/6 0.82 N.A. Tube Length 160.0 M.M. This objective has other markings I cannot read. The fine adjustment and coarse adjustment knobs focus perfectly. And turn wonderfully. They don't make'em like the used to! The fine adjustment knob is numerically ... moremarked. And the pointer from the body tube is still there, doing its job. The diaphragm focus and aperture both work as they should. The mirror is uncracked. And the swivel and dual-axis pivot both function correctly. The tilt/pivot of the entire upper microscope above the base functions as it should. The eyepiece freely rotates and does not have any pointing mechanism. Though when taken apart it appears there is a glue spot that used to hold a pointer. This is going to make a fantastic addition to any collection. I don't know the year. But something tells me that with this information, and the serial number in the picture you'll soon figure that out: I'm listing all of these auctions for a family friend. If you're here reading this. You probably know more than I do, but I'll do my best to answer all questions. Ask before you bid, please. Complete Brass Microscope in its Original Wooden Case. Great Britain, 1860.
Complete Brass Microscope in its Original Wooden Case. Great Britain. 1860. In Working Order Antique unsigned brass microscope made in Great Britain circa 1860. This is a beautiful device that works perfectly and comes in its original light wooden case. The microscope keeps all its original parts. And the objectives and magnifying glass are in excellent condition. The brass is as shiny as when the instrument was made, showing only very slight signs of the trace of time that just enhance its elegant presence. Inside the wooden box we also find a series of accessories and samples that together with the microscope make up a highly attractive set. The microscope stands on a light wooden plank and is supported by two solid black-enameled legs. This lovely article comes with an independent magnifying glass to concentrate light attached to a slim ... morestand. Also made of brass. The whole set boasts a stylized and singularly balanced design that differentiates it from the classical vintage microscopes we are used to see. The item has an objective and the typical oscillating mirror located under the sample plate; both pieces are in perfect condition. The original box designed to store the instrument is made of light colored wood. It keeps the metal handle attached to its top and at the bottom it has a small drawer containing the sample plates. The ones that come with this microscope are from the time when the instrument was made and keep different elements to be observed. At the top right corner of the box. A wooden stand with two circular openings holds the cylindrical metal cases designed to protect objectives. This magnificent microscope is surely a highly interesting piece because of its ancient age and original design. It is surely an article worthy of belonging to a museum of scientific devices from the 19th century. Measurements: Width: 170 mm. Height: 310 mm. I think I left nothing in the description but if I forgot something. I'll be glad to answer any questions. Bid with confidence. We are professional antique de

WINKEL GOTTINGEN ANTIQUE BRASS MICROSCOPE STATIV V STAND WITH LOW SN 1018, DATED 1886 You are invited to purchase a very early antique brass monocular microscope manufactured by Rudolf Winkel of Gottingen. Germany. This instrument, which is built upon his Stativ V(or Stand V) is signed on the rear portion ... moreof the limb, No 1018. R. Winkel Gottingen, 1886. Not only do we have the manufacturer' s name and serial number engraved on the instrument. But also the year that it was manufactured- a relatively rare occurrence for an antique microscope. NOTE: For more details on the history of the R. Winkel Gottingen optical firm. Please see below. Accompanying this listing is an image of this same microscope model extracted from my personal copy of the publication entitled, Handbuch Der Allgemeinen Mikroskopie" by Dr. Leopold Dippel as published in Braunschweig. Germany by Druck Und Verlag Von Friedrich Vieweg Und Sohn in the year 1882. The similarities to the listed instrument are readily apparent. The only differences, which are quite minor, relate to the shape of the foot and the fine focus knob found at the top of the limb. This R. Winkel Gottingen microscope has the lowest serial number from this manufacturer that I have yet encountered in all my years of collecting. Refurbishing and selling antique microscopes. As such it will be a real" prize instrument" for any collector of antique microscopes. Especially for a collection with an emphasis on instruments produce

Amazing 1870 English Brass Binocular Microscope
Amazing English Brass Binocular Microscope. Circa 1870. In Very Good Condition and Working Order This English polished brass binocular microscope. In excellent condition and working like new, is a collector’s piece dating from the 19th century(circa 1870) Its lovely metal design, stylized and with fine mobile parts, is highly remarkable just like its great working order. All its parts are original and well preserved, providing a fluid operation and a high vision quality. The microscope comes in a beautiful wooden case with the original lock and key, containing also a sliding small wooden box with glass plates: samples from the late 1900s. Into the box there are other accessories such as a pair of brass thongs. The whole set is an undoubtedly interesting item in the historical field. Being an article worthy of a museum of technology. The instrument ... morestands on a solid wooden plank, supported by a black-enameled base composed of a series of curved pieces. The rest of the microscope is made of brass and the metal is in great condition: shiny, polished and with its original finish. The microscope comes with a mobile magnifying glass, to concentrrate light, with a brass stand, an indispensable accessory to operate the instrument. The glass is also perfectly preserved and contributes to the correct operation of the microscope. This is a binocular microscope and this characteristic turns it into a very special item. At the eyepieces’ base we can see some gears and a small operating wheel designed to separate both pieces to comfortably graduate their adaptation to the user’s eyes. Another curious feature is the mobile sample plate. Provided with a pair of wheels that graduate their location: one moves it forwards and backwards and the other to the left and to the right. Both characteristics turn this microscope into an exceptional and quality piece. On the other hand, the light mahogany box is also very nice and boasts fine dovetail joints. As stated before, it preserves the original lock and the operating key. All this

Antique Brass Microscope or Telescope Eyepiece Shuttered
This is either an antique Brass Telescope or Microscope Eyepiece with the only marling on it being a"O" next to the viewing port. There is an operating shutter to close it off. Therefore, I suspect it may be a microscope eyepiece where the shutter would keep dust and dirt off the lens. This item comes apart(unscrews) and appears to have been able to accept a different base as there are two different size very fine thread screw threads with which to add a different lens. onlt the smaller of the lenses is on this piece. It comes apart into three pieces, even though the pictures only show it taken apart at one place. It is such a precision piece I hope someone recognizes what it is and bids on it as I do not know what to do with it. FINE NACHET ET FILS, PARIS ANTIQUE BRASS “PETIT MODELE DROIT” MICROSCOPE c. 1870
I state first- I am up and don't really live or sleep on the sale of this item but it is a sweet microscope so control the nerdgasim. As far as I can see its all there- see the pictures for yourself- no cleaning in decades. I didn't look through it but all looks well on the piece- the box fits the microscope perfect and the brass shines like the first day of summer. so this is what I know about the piece. It is a NACHET ET FILS OF Paris Antique circa 1870 brass compound Microscope that is roughly 150 years old- give or take a decade. This is kinda a big deal as you are invited to purchase a very fine antique brass compound monocular microscope by Nachet et Fils of Paris along with a very nicely appointed Mahogany case that houses the instrument and accompanying parts- as far as I can see all parts. It is a Nachet’s“Petit Modele Droit” ... moreSmall Vertical Model) compound monocular microscope by best estimate. This is signed on the top rear of the solid brass foot. NACHET ET FILS, 17 Rue St. Severin, Paris. see photo)The microscope seems in exceptional shape- see photos. The address allows us to date the instrument to circa 1870. NOTE: For more details on the history of the Nachet product just search- this is a deal- if you look up things like"brass microscope" or“Maison Nachet et Fils Fabrique” tell me I am wrong- walk in a store that deals in vintage microscopes and leave with something like this for less than 2 grand- seriously- I move product- they will have a romantic involvement with this nerd focuser. So how do I put it- this thing is complete- all parts are there(see pictures) and there are a small window of these things existing. $799 plus $25 shipping and its out the door- a hell of a deal- I wish more people would appreciate the importance of this pieces.
Antique W. Watson and Sons Brass Microscope serial number 6188 (Early number)
Antique W. Watson and Sons Brass Microscope serial number 6188(Early number) There is a wooden case also which I will add some photo's of shortly but it's not anything too special to look at in comparison with some of the polished fully fitted cases that these are often seen with. Just has the one objective lens and the one x4 eyepiece but has rotating objective mount for up to 4. everything all moves nice and smoothly as you'd expect. This would really polish up to be a stunning bit of eye candy. Sorry but I don't have a lot of info on this at present. I only got it yesterday Not entirely certain of it's approximate value either so I will see what sort of offers you make me as that will give me a better idea. No silly offers though please! I do this to make profit obviously and I didn't take it from someone for £25 ... moreafter saying it was worth not much more I had to put my hand in my pocket so keep it real people. Happy to post this to pretty much anywhere on the face of the planet(at your expense of course) Best courier options will be chosen to suit where you require it being sent to. Having posted similar sized and weighted items fairly recently to USA and Canada you could expect to pay Around the £75 mark give or take. Whatever the costs actually are is what you will pay me though as I have no desire to ramp up huge postal costs to even more outrageous amounts and I shall forward you the receipt from the parcel booking.
SUPERB ANTIQUE TRIPPLE LENS BRASS MICROSCOPE 1880 telescope
SUPERB ANTIQUE TRIPPLE LENS BRASS MICROSCOPE 1880 telescope This is a great VICTORIAN ANTIQUE MICROSCOPE In my estimation it dates from around the mid 19th Century. Circa 1870-1880, but please make up your own mind about this. The microscope measures approx 7 inches(180mm) tall. When extended, and 6inches(150mm) when closed up. It is made from lacquered brass throughout. The instrument has sliding focusing. And illumination is provided by an adjustable mirror beneath the stage. It has three lenses. Which can each be used singly, or screwed together in different combinations, to give vaying amounts of magnification. It is in good condition with very light wear consistent with its age. But no damage or repairs. This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection. SN-1756- 1858. You are invited to purchase a relatively rare and highly collectible antique brass ... morefolding Educational Microscope with Mahogany wood case and accessories by Smith& Beck of London. This early Smith& Beck microscope also has at least two affectionate nicknames earned over the years since its introduction. Namely, the Milk Box or Bread Box microscope. These nicknames are derived mainly from the shape of the unusual horizontal Mahogany wood cabinet used to house this very unique folding microscope. The name of the manufacturer and serial number are clearly identified in raised block letters engraved into both of the vertical side plates of the instrument as follows: S MITH& BECK. LONDON, 1756. Accompanying this instrument is an extract from the Smith& Beck hand written Delivery List indicating that this particular instrument was delivered to a Captain E. H. Hunter on June 2, 1858(see image) It is very, very rare to have this precise level of documentation for an antique microscope. But, that is not all. Also accompanying this instrument is a facsimile copy of the Owner Manual for this microscope model entitled, Description. Price, c. Of The Educational Microscope, Manufactured By, Smith, Beck& Beck, 6 Coleman Street, London, Sixth Edition. As p
antique microscope Nachet & Fils R. ST. SEVERIN 17 "PARIS" 1863-1880 ? brass
This is an antique Microscope. It is marked Nachet& Fils"Paris" R. St. Severin 17, which dates the microscope between 1863- 1880? There is also a number 7 marked on it and it is posted in the photo's. It is 11" tall, has great petina, made with Brass& Cast Iron, all the parts move smoothly and it is a wonderful piece. However the clips to hold the slides in place are mising, but other than that this microscope is intact, seems to function, but I am not an expert on microscopes. I am more than happy to answer any questions and thank you very much for looking!

Rare, Signed, Antique Microscope Brass, Silk Candle-Shade - Est. 1700/1800's
Offered is a unique. Very rare and remarkably well preserved English antique lacquered brass microscope candle holder and shade in a lovely shagreen case. Once assembled. The shade can be adjusted via the telescoping base into the required position to provide light to the microscope and protect the user from the glare of the flame. I would estimate this as dating somewhere between the late 1700’s to early 1800’s. Although I cannot say with certainty as it is challenging to pinpoint so please make your own judgement as well regarding age. As a wonderful bonus. This also has a beautifully written signature on the bottom of the stand. Which states“ B. Barth. London. This lovely item consists of five pieces(case. Telescoping base, shade, base attachment and candle holder) The“X” shaped stand of the base folds. And the telescoping arm extends. ... moreTo lock the telescoping arm in place. The candle holder needs to be attached otherwise it slides back down(likely how it was designed) The thin cylinder serves as the joining piece between the telescoping base and the shade. Other than the stand. All the pieces fit well into the case, which has a nice lining. As can be expected with thin telescoping attachments. The fully assembled piece is not perfectly rigid; however, it stands nicely with only a marginal tilt between the two telescoping sections(again, just likely how it was designed) The case opens and closes by gently pushing the notch on the front and flipping it open and closed with your thumb. The shade/ fan is original and appears to be made of silk or similar material. As shown in the pictures. It has some wear commensurate with age and careful use, as well as some tears; however. It is amazingly well preserved for its age. It still folds in and out very nicely. But, of course, it is very old so you have to show care. Fully assembled and extended. It measures approximately 50 centimetres tall(approximately 20 inches) Again. Overall, the set is in very nice condition. There is some wear to the lacquer a

Queen& Co. lacquered brass and Japanned black lacquered metal microscope called the “The Amateur Microscope.” This instrument is very similar in its overall appearance to Bausch& Lomb’s earlier version of their “Family Microscope” ... moreand was most likely manufactured by B&L for sale by Queen& Co. under their name. NOTE: For more information on the history of James W. Queen& Co. Please see below. This instrument is signed in fancy script on a Nickel-plated oval medallion found on the rear of the tripod foot. “ James W. Queen& Co. Philada.”(Please see the accompanying close-up image of this medallion with its inscription) However. This instrument does not bear a typical serial number. So, dating this instrument is somewhat problematic. However, we can come close to an approximate date of manufacture based on the fact that Bausch& Lomb introduced their similar “Family Microscope” in the year 1883. So, we can conservatively date the instrument to circa 1883. Accompanying this listing is a cut of this model microscope extracted from my personal library copy of the firm’s “ Priced& Illustrated Catalogue of Microscopes And Accessories. Magnifying Glasses, Stereoscopes, Graphoscopes, Etc. Made, Imported, And Sold, Wholesale And Retail, By James W. Queen& Co. Philadelphia, ” 72nd Edition. Published in the year 1890. The exact similarities to the listed microscope are readily apparent.

ENGLISH ANTIQUE BRASS DOUBLE PILLAR BAR LIMB MICROSCOPE- CIRCA 1880 You are invited to purchase a superb antique double pillar Wyleys& Co. of Coventry lacquered brass monocular bar limb microscope from the latter quarter of the 19th Century. This instrument is signed in block letters on an oval brass plaque found on the rear of the brass base. “THE PHARMACIST, WYLEYS& CO. COVENTRY.” Wyleys& Co. was a family owned ... morePharmaceutical company that was established in London in the year 1790. Period advertisements published in medical journals of the day indicate that this company was primarily involved in the wholesale manufacture of a whole array of medical formulations and pharmaceuticals for physicians. Note: Accompanying this listing is a typical company advertisement that was published in THE LANCET GENERAL ADVERTISER in the year 1884. By the latter quarter of the 19th Century. The company had branch offices in all the major cities of the UK. Thus, it appears that Wyleys& Co. was primarily involved in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and most likely did not manufacture this instrument. Rather they offered this microscope to physicians and pharm a cists along with other medical supplies and instruments. Acting as a distributor. The microscope was most likely made by an unknown London optician under a private label merchandising agreement for sale under the Wyleys& Co. name. This instrument does not bear a typical serial number. So it is not possible to determine its exact date of manufacture. However. In the absence of a serial number, there is one clue that helps us to date this i

It is clearly a Spencer Lens Co. instrument. Accompanying this listing is a copy of a catalogue cut showing this model microscope extracted from my personal library copy of their microscope catalogue entitled, “ Spencer Microscopes and Accessories. Microtomes, Bacteriological Apparatus and Laboratory Supplies ” published in the year 1914. The similarities to the listed instrument are readily apparent. Dating the instrument is facilitated by a notation found on the barrel of the right fine focus knob on the instrument. “PAT. APP’D FOR”(see close-up image) This notation refers to a US Patent application filed on July 31, 1906 by Harvey N. Ott in behalf of the Spencer Lens Co. History: Between the years of 1725 and 1730. British microscope designer and maker Edmund Culpeper produced what was to become a very popular microscope type. His design had a double tripod base, the lower level of which had a mirror to illuminate specimens on the upper level. Some later historians of scientific instruments see this concept as a step back in microscope design, as the upright aspect was difficult to use and illuminate. However, the Culpeper type microscope was ... moresimple to construct and not exceptionally costly. Therefore, it opened up the world of microscopy to a larger audience. During the beginning of the 19 th century the Culpeper type microscope vanished from the arena of scientific instruments after about a century of popularity. Here we see a very exact and glimmering reproduction of the Culpeper type microscope at its peak. The English scientific-instrument makers Edward Nairne(1726-1806) and Thomas Blunt(1760-1822) established a company that operated in London between 1774 and 1793. They produced and distributed many optical instruments of the highest quality of the era. This kind of microscope was originally produced by them in about 1780. Description: The microscope is typically stored in its metronome-styled pyramidal mahogany case. A copy of the trade card of Nairne and Blunt is glued to the inner side of the door bearing the royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom and the inscription: Nairne& Blunt IMPROVED PATENT 22 CORNHILL LONDON.
