Very Old Linesman's test phone. I have not tried to clean it but it is in excellent condition. This is an older model with the pencil dialer. There is a switch on the side that changes it form talk to monitor. Embossed on the inside middle of the handle is" Bell System. Made by Western Electric" Embossed on the side of the red and black connectors is"Conner Wire, Chatsworth, Ga. For sale is a collectible from Western Electric Bell Systems Telephone Company; a vintage Bell Systems telephone lineman's rotary butt test set and tone generator telecom tool from California in the 1950's-60's. It's used by technicians to test local loop telephone lines. And is marked Bell System made by Western Electric. On one side is a switch to change from talk to monitor, and it has a belt hook. I am offering this lot of 3 Telephone Test Sets. I’ve heard them called butt sets or butt-in sets. Two are vintage Bell System Western Electric rotary dial sets and one is a more current touch tone set from Harris Dracon. I am not an expert on these sets. I don’t even know how to test them. I don’t see anything obviously cracked or broken or missing. The touch tone set has a battery compartment with no battery(9 volt) I see no corrosion. The dials on the rotary sets seem to work ok. Greetings! Here is one used Western Electric test phone handset. Model#1A. I have no idea how old this item is; it does look vintage, and is quite heavy. Most of the nickel plated finish is still good, although there is tarnishing, small dings/dents, and minor rust spots. The 5ft. brown cloth-covered cord is in good shape, and it still has the test lead connectors. I hooked a volt/ohm meter between the two leads, and got a distinct"crackle" out of it, so it appears the voice coil is still good. Thanks for looking!
