WELLER Color Glazed Jardiniere on Claywood Mold Design
This medium-sized jardiniere is from my extensive personal collection of Weller Pottery. It has a mold design consisting of four side panels each with a different grape-and grapeleaf design. And a very Arts& Crafts style-inspired band around the top. This same mold design is much more typically found in the Burntwood& Claywood pieces dating it to the early-to-mid 1920s; with this type of glaze the piece does not fit within any specific Weller pattern line. Such pieces are often informally described as"Brown Glaze" see pp. 138-139 in the Huxford reference book) or"Color Glazed. This piece is overall in VERY-GOOD CONDITION(a very solid number 3 on the rating scale shown below) I find NO nicks or chips NO abrasions or scratches NO hairline or other cracks NO staining or discoloration(other than a very minor ring of calcium ... morebuild-up inside) NO visible evidence of repairs or restoration and only very minor visible wear- the piece still has a good ring sound when"pinged" with a finger. The only issue I find to note and disclose is the very superficial flaking of the glaze from the underside, perhaps the result of sitting for a prolonged period in standing water( It measures about 7-1/4" high and 9-1/2" maximum diameter. NOTE: BECAUSE OF THE RELATIVELY LARGE SIZE AND SUBSTANTIAL HEFT OF THIS PIECE, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY MY SPECIAL NOTES BELOW REGARDING PAYMENT AND SHIPMENT* I use the following Grading Scale: 1. MINT- Like New or New; 2. EXCELLENT- Used but near new with very minor wear, if any(small scratches or abrasions which are not very noticeable) 3. VERY GOOD- Used shows minor to moderate cosmetic wear(scratches and/or abrasions, nicks) consistent with age of item; 4. GOOD- may have some chipping, scratches, and/or minor cracks but not to the extent which affects the structural integrity or practical serviceability; 5. WELLER? ROSEVILLE? A&C-STYLE BOWL w/INCISED DESIGN
This wonderful. Unique piece is from my extensive personal collection of American Art Pottery; I do not know what company made this piece, but the incised design going all around the outside walls is very reminiscent that found on Weller's Burntwood and Claywood lines, and also similar to the designs found on Roseville's Mostique line. It is very unusual with an unglazed, bisque-like buff-colored exterior while the inside of the bowl is fully glazed- in the exact same color- such that it is practical for use. It measures 2-1/2" high and 7-1/4" in diameter at the top rim. Overall its condition is quite good, with NO nicks or chips NO major scratches NO hairline or other cracks NO staining or discoloration NO visible evidence of repairs or restoration; the only issues I find are an area(about 3/8" x 1" on the topmost ... moreband on the outside with a very very shallow abrasion causing some flaking of the finish revealing the white clay underneath, and a couple of minor glaze a bit lower on the side in the same area(see photo#1- the camera's flash magnifies how visible the flaking actually is) and a few glaze pops on bottom of the inside. I at first thought three of these blemishes were stilt marks from the kiln) The underside shows three stilt marks from the kiln and has the number 37 impressed in the mold; there are no other manufacturers markings that I can find. I use the following Grading Scale: 1. MINT- Like New or New; 2. EXCELLENT- Used but near-new, with only very minor wear, if any, limited to very small surface scratches or abrasions which are noticeable only with extra-critical examination; 3. VERY GOOD- Used, shows minor to moderate cosmetic wear(scratches and/or abrasions, nicks) consistent with age of item and, in the case of vintage pottery, small hairline cracks not related to impact may be present; 4. GOOD- may have some chipping, scratches, and minor cracks(perhaps with minor loss of glaze) but not to the extent which affects the structural integrity or practical serviceab

I have several Weller jardinieres similar to this in my collection. With high gloss, wonderfully rich shades of green, gold and brown, and with Weller's matte I've never been able to determine a particular pattern name in which to include them however because of their unique glaze treatment. WELLER UTILITY WARE FLOWER POT PLANTER PLAID - MKD/VGC
Measures 4" high and 4-3/4"diameter at the top rim. The outside is a gloss glaze but the interior and bottom are unglazed. It is in very good condition with NO nicks or chips. But there is a faint hairline visible extending about 3" from the rim. Visible primarily only on the outside. The inside surface does show mild staining from use for its intended purpose but this is visible mostly by a 1" band just below the rim; the remainder of the inside surface is otherwise remarkably clean- especially remarkable considering that it is unglazed. The underside is clearly marked with the"full-kiln" inkstamp dating manufacture to the middle 1920s. I try my best to HONESTLY describe condition to the best of my ability but please note that all of my items are vintage, previously owned and will not be in absolute MINT condition ... moreunless specifically stated. Even so, being human I may miss some minor condition issues which others may find objectionable, and some others may have different standards and criteria for application of terms relating to condition such as"excellent" near-mint" fine" very fine" very good" and so on. WELLER WHITE 2-HANDLED VASE CLASSIC STYLE
This vase is from my extensive personal collection of Weller Pottery. One of the first I purchased while starting the collection 10 years ago(give or take a few) It has very simple but elegant lines to it, reminiscent of the classic Roman urn(or harkening back to an even earlier, Egyptian) styling. It measures about 8-1/2" tall and 4-1/2" diameter at the top rim. To be very conservative, I would rate the condition as about a 3.75(using the scale below) or between"VERY GOOD" and"GOOD: the piece shows NO nicks or chips NO abrasions or scratches NO hairline or other cracks NO visible evidence of repairs or restoration, and NO visible wear to the outside. The exterior has only the faintest degree of very fine crazing the glaze, visible only under extremely close examination. However, the inside- or top- surface of the ... moreflared rim does exhibit a high degree of glaze crazing, with some associated staining or discoloration; I believe it would be possible to clean this up to a great degree should one know the proper substance(s) and methods to use but I have not tried anything myself beyond normal household cleaning products. Still, it is an extremely attractive shelf piece which certainly displays very well on the outside. The underside is marked with the"Weller" in-mold script, and an impressed"7" below that; although I have a truly extensive collection of Weller, I've never been able to identify the specific pattern line for this particular vase. I use the following Grading Scale: 1. MINT- Like New or New; 2. EXCELLENT- Used but near-new, with only very minor wear, if any, limited to very small surface scratches or abrasions which are noticeable only with extra-critical examination; 3. VERY GOOD- Used, shows minor to moderate cosmetic wear(scratches and/or abrasions, nicks) consistent with age of item and, in the case of vintage pottery, small hairline cracks not related to impact may be present; 4. You don't often see this line of Weller Muskota Pottery listed on eBay. Difficult to find and seldom seen. I don't like to use the word"RARE" to describe pottery but Weller Pottery Lovers can attest to the limited availability of this line. Please review all 10 photos to gain an appreciation of this little fellow. Mild crazing which is a given with this late teens to late twenties production. The large"WELLER" die impressed stamp is proof positive that this is original Weller and you have my personal guarantee also. Early 20th Century Weller Pottery Bud Vase This auction features a wonderful old double bud vase. It was made by Weller. Circa 1900-1925. I have not been able to find the name of the pattern in my reference books, but saw one like it on E-bay a few years ago. The seller called it" Monochrome" It's a simple. Yet classic design. The glaze is a light, faintly blended aqua, with small speckles. Size is 7½" tall and 4¼" across the top. It is 2 7/8" by 3¾" across the bottom. Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks. Up for sale is an interesting mottled matte green arts and crafts vase. Not sure who made it. It resembles Brush McCoy green onyx but is different. It is 2 1/8" tall and 5 1/4" wide. The vase has a flat chip on the top of one of the columns that is approximately 1/4" in length by 1/8" in height as seen in the picture. There is no other damage such as flakes, hairlines or repairs with overall fine crazing. On one of the feet there is a glaze miss that occurred during the original manufacturing and was described for accuracy. It has good color and mold. It is 6 3/4" in height and 2 1/2" square. Weller Pottery 4" Vase "Louwelsa Clover Bloom Mold 1110 1896-1924 EX.CD.
This listing is for a pretty little vase by Weller Pottery. The vase is from the"Louwelsa" line and was produced between 1896 and 1924. The vase is a petite 4" tall. 3 1/4" in diameter at the shoulder and 3/4" in diameter at the rim. I have been told that this style of piece was actually a candle holder in lieu of a vase, but I have never found that info in a collector's book. My mother is 87 and worked in the McCoy pottery during the war- she is my source of info) The vase has a hand painted picture of a clover bloom and the classic background of rich dark brown, gold, orange, rust and green. The bottom is marked with"1110" mold number and a"3" denoting size. The vase is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks and very light visible crazing in the lighter background colors. This listing is for a compote made by Weller pottery. I believe this is the Noval line. It most closely matches a shape shown on page 192 in the Collectors encyclopedia of Weller Pottery but the rose decoration is also very similar to the Zona line. It is marked with the impressed WELLER mark. It has some chips along the bottom(photo 4) and some discoloration that looks like foxing to me(photos 3& 6) It does have the overall crazing usually seen with this pottery. Weller Alvin vase. Looks like a piece from the Woodcraft line but the high gloss glaze puts it in the Alvin line. These are more rare than the Woodcraft pieces as there were much less made. ShipSaver. This vase stands an impressive 12" tall. There is one chip by the mauve colored fruit at the top of the tree. It is right on the branch so it kind of blends in. I noticed it when I felt the rough spot, I hadn't seen it with a visual inspection. Other than this chip the vase is in good shape with the typical overall crazing. The color starts as rich Brown on the inside of the Jardiniere and flows over the scallop top and down the wave collar embellishment blending with Tan. The Brown continues down the Jardiniere to the V or A pattern where it picks up a Brilliant Glowing Deep Teal-Green and then both flow to the bottom. There is a teeny tiny chip on the top rim and one on the side as seen in close-up pictures. There is also a close-up picture of a couple of in-making lighter spots.
