This Lathe was used in a Fabrication plant here in Orlando that was in business since the early 1940's and closed a few years back. They manufactured only parts for Aircraft for the U.S. Military. The Collets are not included with the listing, just used for example.The opening at the Top measures 1 7/16" and then Tapers down a bit. The opening at the other end is 1 1/4" in diameter. It is 2 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" wide at its widest part. The base measures 1 1/2" across. Not sure what other measurements may be important to you so please ask and I will post the answer. DESCRIPTION: Up for bid. A used pair of live centers. The#2MT is made by Craftsman the other center is an unknown manufacturer and has a 0.430" straight shank. Please study the pix carefully and Email any questions prior to bidding. This item is guaranteed to be as represented. CONDITION: The live centers do have some signs of use. The only thing I see worth mentioning are the tool marks on the point of the Craftsman piece. Both bearings are not like new. However I believe they are both usable. MAGNETEK GPD 403 A0P7.75 HP(3 AMP) For those of you with a need for a forward/reverse. Variable speed motor control, this is a good way to go. But with most of the currently available controls, along with that capability comes a bunch of other features. I've had a long history with the earlier MAGNETEK/ YASKAWA motor controls. at one time or another I've had almost the whole GPD line in use in my shop and I've always had top service from them) I guess I'm'old school' but for a lot of my shop operations I feel much more comfortable with'analog' controls.faster for me to make instant'on line' changes and adjustments. Some of the features available to the 403 line are: full torque(power) at virtually any speed(up to twice the motors' rated speed) and variations you can choose for different applications ... moreand needs. I constantly use the ramp up/ ramp down speed settings; if I'm doing a sanding operation on small parts with very little mass(an example is sanding flutes in both forward and reverse directions to clean the edges of the cut on wooden kitchen utensils) I set the ramping feature for perhaps 1-2 seconds from high speed forward to stop to high speed reverse. Then I just flip the toggle from'forward run' to'reverse run' and that's all.the change in direction and'ramping' is automatic. lf I'm doing the same kind of operation on a large piece(say. 15" dia X 84" long, that maybe weighs 300 lbs, I can set the ramp-to-stop feature to up to 2 minutes( to accommodate the stopping and reversing of a much larger mass.and all with the single flip of a toggle switch. These controls are set up to accept limit switches for change of operations as well as counters and timers, and even have 5-10 volt transformer source should you need it) One of the features I use often is the AUTOMATIC variable speed during a single pass. With the use of proximity switches I can set the main spindle to slow the revs at a large diameter section and speed

South Bend 9 Junior metal lathe 9 inch metal lathe
South Bend Lathe model 9 Junior from the 1930's. I bought this lathe about 5 years ago in hopes of learning to turn metal. I cleaned the lathe up. Painted the parts carefully,and added a craftsman reversible motor to replace the old motor which was dead. Then I ran it a couple of times to tinker around a bit. I have not, however, had the time to really dedicate to learning how to be proficient with this lathe so I have decided to sell it and regain some shop space. The lathe is in pretty good condition overall. It is missing one oil cup that was cracked when I got it. I removed the cup and made a removable oak plug that keeps the dirt out. New oil cups can be gotten from EBay for a couple dollars. The motor is reversible and the reversing switch is with the lathe but will have to be wired correctly to get reverse to work. The leather ... morebelt is in good condition but the drive shaft needs to be re-squared to the lathe to get it to run true. Although the belt works currently, it does not run entirely on the pulleys and will sometimes jump of under load. This is an easy repair. The gears and drive components are in good condition and worked well during the time I ran the lathe. Tooling appearing in the pictures is what is included with the lathe as is the way and spindle oil that I order specifically for thus lathe. The felt way wipers were new when I cleaned the lathe. I do not believe that this lathe has had more than 2 hours use since I put it together. I have a book on how to use the lathe that I will include as a bonus if I can locate it. This lathe is on a home built metal base with a hardwood top. The lathe will sell AS IS with LOCAL PICKUP only. I will not ship this item. It is located at Wyanet, IL 61379. I can help load the lathe. It is quite heavy. Please fell free to ask questions. I will answer the best that I can. I can hold for two weeks to get pickup arranged. It looks to have been repurposed in the past, and has various holes drilled and tapped. The base- smaller half, has had a relief ground in the center bottom. Grand 2-1/2" Square Indexing Tool Post from small South Bend Lathe
Offered here is a 2-1/2" Grand square indexing tool post. This was used on a small South Bend Lathe. And I believe that it came off of a 9" Model. The T Nut measures about 1-1/8" x 2" x 3/16" and the tongue that fits between the compound jaws is about 3/4" The tool post looks fine but it needs a good clean up and the spring which pushes the body from the base when indexing is missing. The indexing balls are there so it should not take too much effort to put it into good order. This was mfg'd. in Germany and should be worth the time and trouble to repair.
