Quick Change Gearbox for South Bend 9A or 10K Lathe
A very nice quick change gearbox. The paint leaves a bit to be desired. And the label is badly worn, though still readable. There is no visible damage, and I have run this gearbox without having any difficulties or hearing any noises. This was removed from a 4.5' bed(it says that on the label) And that leadscrew will be offered for sale in future. This gearbox also comes with the leadscrew gear and nuts. As well as the three mounting screws. All these items are shown in separate pictures.

This lathe will need to be picked up in Goodland Indiana. This 1308 south Bend lathe was retired from service in the shop where I work Due to its poor condition.It was being used to make parts right up to the day we unplugged it a couple of months ago.This Lathe was purchased new in the mid 1980's and was used heavily in a tool room environment. It measures 1 7/8" from the bottom to the center of the tool slots. The handle has been repaired. The"t" nut is perfect for a Nardini 1440 but will work on others or maybe modify the"t" nut. 9" South Bend Lathe Lever Tailstock Locks for use w/ centers as well as drilling
9" South bend Lever Tail Stock. I used this on my 9" almost all the time I had the lathe. It sold with the standard tailstock at their preference. But this is a great item. I didn't do a lot of work in centers, so this is a MUST HAVE for lots of drilling. There is light wear on the ways, but not bad. Alignment was good on my previous lathe, obviously varies to different lathes. These feature a front and rear lock that allow you to use it with the lead screw like a standard tailstock. Slight marks in the taper, but I rarely if ever had a loose morse taper fit. Once you use one of these, you'll never go back. Nice item. Sold all my South Bends so off go the accessories! Sold as is.
