The threaded back is removable and is 1 3/4" 8 thread which fits some very old South Bend lathes as well as some Clausing Lathes, Sheldon Lathes as well as at least one Dividing Head Brand. The chuck is a hollow back chuck with a 1 7/8" thick body which keeps the weight of the chuck down to about 17 1/2 lbs. The main thing that sets it apart is that instead of just(6) speeds you would normally have through changing belt positions. Is that it is electronically equipped with a high/low in each speed by pushing button on control panel, so you have(12) Also same panel, by pushing button the ability to go from forward to reverse. Also has flame hardened ways. I purchased a semi-load of these lathes from government surplus and sold to customers when I had a machine shop supply company. This machine was the last one sold with the condition I could repurchase if they ever sold it. I went to work for the man who bought it in a tool and die shop. 6” Buck Chuck with Back Plate for Logan. South Bend, or Atlas/Craftsman Lathe I recently bought two Atlas 10 lathes that came from an older gentleman so some tooling and parts are excess to my needs. I will be listing these as I identify what I do not need. This is a fully functional 3-jaw 6” Buck Chuck Model 2063R. It has a back plate that fits a 1-½” 8 TPI(threads per inch) spindle. I have tried it on a South Bend 9. A Logan, and an Atlas 10F lathe. As such it should fit several Sears models as well, but I cannot personally verify that since I don’t have one to try it. The current version of this chuck and back plate sells for $900- $1,200 new. Please see the pictures for the condition of this item. I think it is in fairly good condition. This item is sold as is. It has a 1-1/2" x 8 threaded mount and approximately a 1-3/8" bore. When I tighten and loosen the jaws I feel a light tight spot and I am almost certain that it is from dirt in the jaws. There is an adapter plug that was made for it, and I was told that it was done so the chuck could be used on a rotary table. The nosepiece that will hold the collet itself. It has a very small key inside to keep the collet from turning. This unit is used but appears to be in good used condition. From a South Bend Lathe Catalog CL 370 ZD 10K(Light Ten) lathe, serial no. 6655KKR7(approx. 1958) school lathe that was in storage for years and saw little use over its life. The back side has mounting pads and threaded holes for mounting a taper attachment. The hole for the compound is 1 3/8" includes wipers. Most of the original scraping marks are still visible, the only issue is the gib strip is missing and you will need to make or purchase one prior to use, maybe use the one from your existing lathe. The lathe this came from had no noticeable wear on the bed or any other components. SOTTOF SALES Very nice South Bend 10K(Light Ten) Head Stock has been disassembled and cleaned. The bearings and spindle are in great shape, this model has the adjustable bearings. This lathe takes 6K collets right in the spindle and also has a 3MT bore as well. The spindle thread is 1 1/2" 8. The mounting bolts are included as are the oil wicks, the wicks should be replaced as well as the wicking but you could reused them. Comes just as shown, the only damage is one gear missing from the bull gear(see last photo) it works fine as is, I ran it in back gear and it does not effect use. Group Of 4 R8 Lathe Collets - Dayton, Atlas, South Bend
Just acquired these from a local estate. Four R8 lathe collets in the following sizes(in inches) 3/16. 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8. The two smaller sizes are marked P11, and the two larger sizes are marked ROYAL. They all have a little bit of staining on them, but are smooth and without any roughness. The 3/16 has a little bit of roughness to the face. All appear to be perfectly usable. These will ship in a USPS Small Flat Rate Box.
