South Bend Lathe 5 to 1 compound gear
These gears are 20 pitch and have 100 teeth on the large gear and 20 teeth on the small gear. The large gear looks good. However the small gear has some chips in the teeth but it will probably work fine.The photos show the small gear from three sides. It looks like the small gear is pressed into the large gear so it may be replaceable. The bore is 5/8 and the face is 3/8 and I am including the bushing that fits the gear to a 7/16 bolt. South Bend Lathe Hand Lever Bed Turret RARE!
Up for auction is a vintage South Bend Lathe hand lever bed turret. Model LT-106R which is stamped next to the South Bend logo. I am not an expert but from my research I beleive this is for a 10" lathe. The"R" in the model number according to SBL denotes 10" This turret is in good condition for its age however it is missing 3 pieces that can easily be fabricated. The lever is missing but all the mounting hardware is present. The 5/16" nut that locks the turret to the bed is missing. The knob that goes on the small handle that locks the turret from moving is also missing but this does not affect the operation of the unit. Shipping cost includes insurance. This item is very heavy. I will also offer local pickup as a shipping option. If you plan on picking it up let me know so I won't invoice the shipping cost.
