South Bend 16" Lathe Motor Cabinet Cover
You are bidding on one of the motor cabinet covers for a South Bend 16" lathe. It is the larger of the two covers and fits on the very end below the gear train from the spindle. This is the original cover from my 16x8. Which was manufactured in 1948. It should fit any 16" lathe with the under mount drive cabinet. I media blasted this one and painted it when I restored my lathe. Even though it had a broken louver. I was happy to use it as-is, since i t has no effect on performance. unless your shop has a squirrel infestation and you store acorns in the motor cabinet- it leaves a gap big enough for a squirrel or chipmunk. But. I found another cover, pretty cheap, so I bought it to replace this one. I actually considered welding or brazing in a strip of mild steel. It wouldn't look too bad once it was painted.

Face Plates and other miscellaneous tools that have been in storage are now being released for disposition. Offered here is a 5-C Collet Draw Bar. Although there may have been other lathes in the shop at some point. The only model lathes I saw were 14-1/2" and 16" South Bends, and 2 Emco Meier Lathes. I am assuming that this draw bar was from one of those ... morelathes but I am not sure. To help determine if this will fit your lathe, here are some basic dimensions: The overall length is approximately 22-1/2" And the distance from the collet end to the bearing hub is 19" The diameter is 1-3/8" There is a number DHW 103T stamped into the rotating bearing. This has been sitting idle for a while so a quick clean and polish would not hurt. The draw bar itself looks fine and the bearing spins freely.
