The tool is 12 inches in length with the diameter of the cartridge being 3/4 inches and 1 7/8 inches long. It has a wooden handle with the plunger apparatus and connecting tube from the handle to the soldering cartridge holder made of steel. The cartridge holder and tip are made of copper. To use the tool, the operator would unscrew the tip from the handle cup, insert a fuel cartridge, and replace the tip. I read that this thing was used to solder tin sheets together for roofing purposes. Personally. I would use it for stained glass window making, but I just don't have enough time. But maybe you do! To use it. All you need is some kind of heat making device, such as a wood stove, an electrical stove or a torch, and you melt long lengths of lead on your copper tape while it's hot enough, and with a big mass of copper like that, it will work quite nicely!
