What we have up for auction is WWII Luftwaffe flight helmet. This one appears to have been field modified version. I have been told that is was probably an early version that was used for glider training just before the war. Because of the treaty of Versaille. Germany was not allowed to have a combat capable air force. The Luftwaffe began training for war under the guise of a non-combatant glider corp. We all know how that turned out. It appears that the openings for the head set was covered with kid skin leather with detailed stitching. All avionics have been neatly removed or were never installed to begin with. The Bad: The inner linning has been eaten a bit by insects. No holes in the leather. Still displays well. The Good No holes in the leather Straps are solid and complete All hardware as issued.
