6 Jaw Buck 6" Chuck Part No. 3662 For Logan Craftsman South Bend Metal Lathe
Made in the USA by Buck. Number on the face I believe is the part number is 3662. Pat. no. is 2639157. I disassembled it and ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner, it shows no corrosion inside and light patina on the outside. The ring gear is perfect with no chipped or broken teeth. I greased the gear with Lubriplate and heavily oiled everything else, works very smooth and will no doubt provide many years of service. The jaws are not independent and work as one unit. The backing plate is set up for a 2 1/4" 8 TPI threaded spindle and has AC-114 stamped on it's face. Ask questions and be sure because I don't want it back. Antique Overhead Shaft Belt Drive Metal-cutting Lathe
My father bought this from a neighbor's estate and now you can buy it from his. This lathe comes with a length of overhead drive shaft(see picture) This shaft would be driven by whatever power source you had by a flat belt. There would be a belt from the shaft to the lathe. But it is long gone. If I am measuring correctly. This is a 9"x28" lathe. There is some wear on the gears and some teeth are damaged(see picture) It has a three jaw chuck mounted on it. There is a four-jaw chuck and a faceplate with it that I assume fit. I do not know what the odd fittings on the legs are for. The legs appear to unbolt from the lathe bed. It may be necessary to do this to get the lathe out of my mother's basement. At least two strong men will be required to load it. We cannot crate and ship this. This is a very nice headstock assemble. For a Atlas/Craftsman 12X36 metal lathe(model# 101.07403 and others) The casting has been completely stripped and is ready for paint to match your lathe or for a restoration project. All the parts have been removed, cleaned and inspected. The bull gear and small back gear are in excellent condition and look to be unused, as dose the pulley. The spindle gear has some slight visible ware to it, but is still in good working order. The bearings are in excellent condition and runs smooth. Comes with two oil cups, original switch and plate and nice“Craftsman“ badge. Shipping weight is 30lbs.
