Up for auction is a cast iron. Vintage, possibly antique, meat chopper/grinder made by L F& C. of New Britain, Connecticut. The model is No. 323"Universal" Meat Chopper. This company, Landers, Frary& Clark, dates back to 1829 and made all sorts of household appliances, gadgets and housewares, right here in the USA. In 1965, it was acquired by The General Electric Company. I will include a short paper describing the interesting history of this company. This chopper/grinder is in great shape and works well and has a wooden knob on the handle. It is approximately 11" tall and 8 1/2" across from the tip of the wooden knob to the opposite end. this grinder comes as you see it on the pictures. whole grinder measures 10 length x 5 1/2 width x 7 height inches whole grinder weighs 5 pounds before packing it to ship. the opening on top/mouth measures 6 length x 3 width handle alone is 8 inches long. there are only few accesories with it. All pictured. very easy to remove and put back the accesories on the grinder to clean or change cutting blades. i am not positive it's complete but seem to rotate well. was not tested with any food. there is a small paper with some instruction too. see pictures for writings on bottom and top. one small rubber for base/leg support missing. but does not affect it in anyway. there are scratches. Vintage Chop-Rite Deluxe Cast Iron Sausage Meat Press Enterprise Stuffer Grinder
Exactly like Grandma used to use. Made in the USA and of cast iron. It can be the new family heirloom for generations to come. This unit holds 8 liquid quarts which equates to approximately 16 pounds of meat. Unit quickly disassembles for easy cleaning and comes with a single 3/4" plastic spout(hog casings) but other spouts are available below. The Standard model is primarily for stuffing sausage, whereas the Deluxe model doubles as a fruit and lard press and comes additionally with a stainless steel strainer basket, smaller plunger plate& a perforated plate: Possibly the oldest name in USA-made sausage stuffers and grinders would be Enterprise Manufacturing. Now known as Chop-Rite. There are still Enterprise stuffers and grinders in use today, some over 100 years old! They are built to last and are made of cast iron and other quality ... morematerials from the original designs. Bought in the mid-1900's, the Enterprise Manufacturing company was renamed to Chop-Rite Mfg. Using the same design as the original Enterprise stuffers and grinders, parts are interchangeable with the older equipment. This Chop-Rite is used and shows signs of wear. But it is still in overall excellent condition, especially considering its age. The only things of consequence to mention are that there is a little rust on different components of the unit. Everything I know to remove rust shouldn’t be used on food preparation items, so I haven’t cleaned it off. I would recommend you plan to thoroughly clean this item prior to use, just like you should with all food preparation items. This unit sells for $600, if you can even find them anymore. This Thunderbird meat grinder was used only once-one 60 lb. box of beef. I bought it intending to grind my own meat in my restaurant and quickly decided it wasn't cost effective considering the price of prepared beef patties. It worked great. Vintage 60s Universal Food Chopper Meat Grinder #2 w/5 Cutters - in Original Box
This cast iron. Hand-operated Universal Food and Meat Chopper#2 is in very clean& functional condition, with five cutter blades for coarse, medium and fine chopping. The food chopper is stored unassembled in original box with warranty. The box still has the Macys store label from where this was apparently purchased. There is no instruction sheet included. Contents of the box include: grinder; chopping auger with feed screw end; wooden crank handle; five cutter blades; wing nut; and crank screw. The chopper clamps onto a table edge or counter with built-in clamp. This food chopper was“Made in U.S.A. Condition: Clean& shiny with just some occasional minor rust. Wooden handle clean with no chips or splintering. Box is solid but shows some spots and staining inside and out.

Up for auction is an antique meat grinder made by" GREAT AMERICAN MEAT CUTTER" PHILADELPHIA. The housing has this manufacturers name on it and"No 120" It also has"PAT D AUG 24 1886" on the other side of the housing. This housing is made of a material that doesn't rust. It looks more like"pot metal" than aluminum. The housing has 4 mounting holes to mount it permenantly. It has a steel end strainer which unscrews to remove the inside screw blade(blade is steel) I do not have the handle but a handle from a newer grinder might work. This unit weighs 7.2 pounds. It is not stuck-just needs cleaning and a handle. Very unique meat grinder. Please email any questions you might have.
