LIVE STEAM TRACTOR traction engine NOT WORKING for parts or display HIT MISS
This steam tractor was used as a lawn ornament for many years. It is just small enough to fit in your garage! It is 88 inches tall. 112 inches long, and 54 inches wide, including the bearing caps on the axles. The boiler is approximately 22 inches in diameter. It has spoked steel wheels with bearings. A chassis with a steering wheel and worm gear arrangement that winds chains to turn the front axle left or right, a differential to drive the rear wheels, using small pinion gears to engage large cast iron gears on the inside of both rear wheels, and a flywheel on a heavy drive shaft that has a sprocket to drive the differential with roller chain. Pics are(1) Right side. 2) Back, 3) Left side, 4) Front, 5) Drive shaft and flywheel, showing sprocket, 6) Differential with sprocket, 7) Right rear wheel with pinion from differential and large cast ... moreiron gear, 8) Steam engine and drive shaft from back, 9) Steam engine from right side. The firebox of the boiler may be original. The forward half of the boiler is not original. And this part of the boiler was probably added just for looks. I was told that the steam engine is an old vertical engine that was mounted on top of the boiler. It is incomplete. The front wheels are 5 inches wide and 24 inches in diameter. The back wheels are about 10 inches wide and 35 inches in diameter. It looks like they had tires of some sort at one time. The flywheel is 20 inches in diameter and 5 1/2 inches wide. The cast iron steering wheel is 12 inches in diameter. The back deck is ancient safety tread steel plate that is about 3/16 inches thick. The deck is 50 inches wide and extends back 36 inches from the firebox. This contraption might have started life as a smaller. Pudgy steam tractor, or even as a gasoline tractor. It rolls easily. It looks more like construction or lumbering equipment than farm equipment. Weight is about 800 pounds. This makes a great full size model for the steam enthusiast. Nice Original CUSHMAN FLYWHEEL NUT Crank Starter Hit Miss Stationary Gas Engine
This is an original CUSHMAN Flywheel Nut with ribbed end for crank starting those old Stationary Hit Miss Gas Engines. It is the main nut that holds the Flywheel onto the engine. Original STANLEY STEAM CAR Fuel Pressure Gauge Auto Hit Miss Gas Engine Motor
This is an extremely hard to find. If not rare, original fuel pressure gauge for a Stanley Steam car. It is marked Stanley Motor Carriage Company, Newton, MASS on the face. It measures about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and some original plumbing on it including the flange to mount it to the firewall. The original glass is cracked but is not broken out. I haven't cleaned it or done anything to it but I would imagine it needs to be recalibrated before one could use it. If you've been looking for one of these for an authentic restoration you already know how tough they are to find. Don't miss your chance on this one. Old PENBERTHY SAFETY #1 Hit Miss Gas Engine Brass Rod Oiler Steam Tractor NICE
This is an old. Original, 1 Penberthy Safety brass connecting rod oiler for a hit and miss gas engine, steam engine, or other piece of machinery. It is in used condition fresh out of an old farm workshop. It has some dings and dents but I think it could be made into a pretty decent rod oiler with a little elbow grease. It needs glass and gaskets which are available from the hobby suppliers. It is marked Penberthy Safety on the adjustment handle and a patent date of 1893 on the reverse side. It is about 1 7/16 inches in diameter and 4 1/4 inches tall overall. It has 3/8 inch pipe threads and they are in great shape. The hex has some minor wrench marks on it. These small rod oilers are tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets so don't miss your chance on it. The pictures tell the story. Good Luck.

vintage easy hit and miss washer engine
I have had many of these engines.I used to go to a lot of gas engine shows in central new York near where this engine was built.But this was the first and last one that I had with a brass flywheel.Me and my dad started this and showed it about 10 years ago.it was one of his favorites.it runs good,but the kick starter was removed and put a rope cup on it.The original kick starter is still with it it is dirty from sitting on a barn shelf for many years(it appears to have a homemade carb and gas tank on it although I don't remember putting them on there.This engine is very,very rare with a brass flywheel.I sold 2 others this past season at the pageant of steam in Canandaigua NY for 575.00 each without the brass flywheels I would had sold this as well but I didn't have it with me

5 Vintage SPARK PLUGS Champion Defiance Tiger Gas Engine Stationary Hit Miss
Here I have 5 vintage SPARK PLUGS for those old Stationary Gas Engines Hit Miss and possibly other applications as well. All are made in the U.S.A. The one W-89D Champion is approx. 3-1/2" long and appears new. It's the one with the sleeve on the end to the right. The one TIGER TX is approx. 3-1/4" long. The one Defiance 54-H is approx. 3" long. The two 1 Com plugs measure approx. 3" long. The cool thing about these. The ceramic tip part can be separated from the base. The Tiger and Defiance are pretty tight and I can not turn them the others are free. All the ceramic is good condition. These have not been tested. Here is a Brass SAFETY RELIEF VALVE possibly for those vintage Steam Engines of yesteryear. The body measures approx. 2-3/8" long and with the arm it's 3-3/4" long. Old 2hp Vertical IHC FAMOUS Hit Miss Gas Engine Project Steam Tractor Ignitor
This is a handyman kit for a 2hp vertical International Harvester Famous engine. It is not complete as can be seen. What's here is in pretty good condition. The governor weight bracket will need to be repaired and the gas tank has a decent patch in the bottom. The crankshaft. Pinion gear, and governor collar seem to be in great shape I can deliver this for free to LeSueur, MN, Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA next year. Very nice pair of original Penberthy brass grease cups. These grease cups have been used. However they are in very good condition. The knurling is nice and there are no nicks. The grease cups have 1/4 inch pipe threads. The grease cups measure about 2 1/8 inches tall by 1 5/8 inches in diameter. A very nice pair of grease cups for your antique engine or machine. 4hp Bates & Edmonds/Fairbanks Bull Dog hit &miss engine. Antique motor. Old
Here is a very nice unique running 4hp Bates and Edmonds made Bulldog hit& miss engine. This engine is turnkey. Put gas in it and spin the wheels. This engine is unique from the standpoint that it has an extra wide flywheel on the mag side of the engine. The wheel is crowned and is 4 1/8" wide. The pulley side wheels is the standard 4hp Bulldog flywheel. The wheels match with the exception of the face width. The engine is complete with a nice pulley and muffler and crankguard. There is no tag on the engine and doesn't appear that there ever was. No holes for it outside or inside the hopper. Nice Webster magneto for ignition. This engine has great compression and starts easily. I have seen any CBWs. Never seen another one like it. Ready to show. Will ship via Fastenal at the buyers expense and arrangement. Case Tractor Antique Rear Axle Cover Cast Iron 1930s Hit Miss Engine IH John Old
What we have here is an antique cast iron rear axle cover for an early 1930s or so Case tractor. Very nice condition. plenty of old paint a a bit of grease, dirt and rust, clean it up or use it the way it is. No damage no repairs threads for filler plug look good. Measurements are approximate height 21.5" Width 14" center of bolts top and bottom 5" bolt holes on the sides are 4.5" and 6.5" and it weights a bit over 20 pounds. Put a small light in the oil fill hole and have an instant wall hanger for the garage or man cave. This heavy casting ships to the lower 48 States only. HIT MISS STAIONARY ENGINE/factory cart-nice one for sure!!
I bought this cart several; years ago and it was in bad shape. Cleaned it up. Repainted it, rebuilt the decking using 3/4" rock[sugar]maple boards screwed down on to 2" square rails using U.S. made stainless steel screws. Wheels have Zerk fittings, roll very easily, and have rubber on the rims which is great if you have a sealed blacktop drive way! The handle is bent as you can see but can be fixed if need be. It measures 47 1/2" long, is 23 1/2" wide. stands 14 1/2 high, and the handle with the tung is 45" long. This cart is extremely well designed and made and will be of good service for many years to come. I hate to have to sell this but find I must do so. Here is a very rare opportunity to bid on three overhead valve FH Briggs engines at once! I picked these up at an auction recently and won't have the time to get them running. There are two complete engines with kickstart. The rusty engine is barn fresh, still has straw on it. The kickpedal is bent, but could easily be straightened in a matter of seconds with heat. All three engines have shrouds, the one engine is missing a head and kickpedal. The engine that doesn't have the shroud on it, is not stuck, everything moves. The other two engines are stuck. The engine painted white is barely stuck, wouldn't take much at all to get that one running. ALL THREE carburetors are in excellent shape with good butterflies, which is rare. There is enough here to easily make two good running engines, and have some hard to find parts left over ... moreto sell or add to your stash. Look at the pictures closely and decide for yourself, these engines aren't junk. Hard to find these early Briggs for sale, let alone three at one time! Maytag Model 82 Engine Washing Machine Motor Rare Antique Hit Miss
Here is a Maytag Model 82 motor. Appears to have had some restoration at some time as it has some fairly nice paint and the gaskets and decals are newer. Sorry I don't know the running condition. The old fellow that used to help me tinker with these old motors has passed now so if they don't fire up real easy I don't really have a clue. This one doesn't have a kick pedal start and doesn't appear to have ever had one. Serial number on the flywheel is 189288. Note where the one mounting hole on the base has been welded. Otherwise I didn't see any cracks or damage. No pulley or exhaust pipe but other than that I believe it to be complete. RARE International Harvester Electric Motor ... Farm Tractor Hit Miss Engine IH
Hard to find IH International Harvester electric motor. Produced by the same company that made farm equipment and tractors. This is 1/6 horsepower and I'm not sure what the original application was. It was on an old grain mill but the previous owner said he remembered his grandfather using it on a cream separator years ago. It is 115 volt and it runs super quiet and smooth. The toggle switch works and it is capacitor start. The cord is two prong but is not original. It has been cleaned up and clear coated and has most of its original finish. It should display very nicely in a collection. Would be very cool hooked up and running with an antique light plant or generator or even to display with your antique hit miss gas engines. Very nice original Maytag flat belt pulley. This pulley is for the model 82 Maytag. Sometimes known as the"Sidewinder" The pulley measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter X 1 1/2 inches wide with a 1 1/8 inch diameter bore. Unfortunately someone made the set screw access hole into a slot to start the engine with a rope. Which actually is a very practical idea. The set screw threads are very good. No cracks. Nice original Fairmont carburetor. I believe this carburetor is from an 8-13 horse power Fairmont speeder engine. It may also fit the 5-7 h.p. engine as well. The 2 mounting holes are 3/8 inches in diameter and 3 3/4 inches from center to center. The carburetor is used. However it is complete and in good condition. Unfortunately the brass float is split at the seam. It could probably be resoldered to seal again. Everything works and moves as it should. The carburetor has the part no. Hit and Miss Engine Governor Clutch
This is a governor clutch for a hit and miss engine. These were used to control the RPM of whatever implement you were running. Corn sheller, burr mill, cream separator, etc. There are no chips or cracks on the casting and it has not been welded on. The adjustment knob turns freely. I don't see any casting numbers or anything else on this saying where it was manufactured. It is missing one of the grease cups. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

Neat old No. 5 Oiler. Approximately 8" long with 3" diameter glass. The glass is cracked and there is some type of junk on the exterior of the glass by the crack. I have seen on ebay replacement glass for this particular oiler if you would like to replace the glass. Engraved into the bottom of one piece are these words: The Lunkenheimer Co Cincinnati O. Sentinel No. 5 Patented Dec. 19. 1899" I have listed a second one of these oilers which has good glass.

Old Brass CC Steam Traction Engine TRI COCK Valve Tractor Hit Miss Magneto Oiler
This is a rather hard to find original brass tri cock valve that was used on a steam engine or other piece of machinery. It is marked CC and in good used condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know about except that it is missing the stopper pin as pointed out in the last photo. This shoudn't be real hard to remedy. It has 1 inch female pipe threads on the T leg and 3/4 inch female pipe threads on each end of the through part of it and they are all in good condition. The valve seems to work as it should. These valves are quite pricey new and the new ones just don't have the right look to them for period machinery. This one is pretty nice and would look great on your project or on the shelf for a spare. The pictures tell the story. You'll like it. Good Luck.
