Ant. Brass Steam Engine ? Pump ? Hit Miss Fresh from an old shed. Check pics
Hello: Just found this in a very old shed. Not sure what it is. Looks like it might be a steam engine converted to a pump. Just a wild guess. You be the judge. It measures 25" long. 9" wide. 9 1/4" overall height. the Brass Fly wheel is 9 1/4" diam. 5/8" wide and total weight is 38 lbs. It is all most all Brass except for the base and screws and bolts and round piston rod. It was partially apart and not bolted to the base. I bolted it to the base with modern bolts. It turns over smooth and one of the outlets on top sucks and the other one blows. I think it could be used as a pump or very nice display or show. I couldn't make myself throw it in the scrap Brass. Old National Supply Hit Miss Gas Engine Brass Water Fuel Valve Oil Field NICE!
This is a real nice original old style 1 inch gas valve for a hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. It has mild wear and marks on it from its years of service. It moves as it should and is ready to be used on an engine. The threads are in great shape. It has"NS Co" casted into it which I believe is National Supply Company. This would look good on an old engine and it would even look good as a spare on the shelf. It would certainly look better than anything modern! These larger valves are getting harder to find every day so if you need one don't miss it. The pictures tell the story. Hit Miss Gas Engine driven,or hand crank burr mill - Otis & Moe Mfg.Co.Chicago
Here is a nice hand crank burr mill.One may find a pulley some where,and run this with a motor. I do not sell this with a pulley, just a flywheel. I am sure this would be for chicken feed. Or for corn meal, and not to make bread with. I have seen ones that were to make flour with, the corn ground to a much finer finish, although this is fairly fine. This grinder has some wear in the front main bearing. As can be seen in the one picture. You can wiggle the shaft some, but it is not so bad. I have seen many, much worse, and still grinding. I am trying to find a pulley from the pile. If this would make the difference to some one, please let me know, and I will add it. I would need to know a size, and if flat or V belt is desired. I do not accept offers as a general rule. So please do not send me low ball offers, if no one has bid, I will not ... moretake them. I am just trying to get some gas money. To go to Coolsprings on, I do not want to swear I am going, so do not want to say I will deliver there. A free local pick up is good, I meet people at the I 80 truck stop, in Urbandale. Old Fairbanks Morse Z 3 6hp Hit Miss Gas Engine Sumter Magneto Gear Ignitor
Here is a real nice original cast iron magneto gear for a Fairbanks Morse gas engine. It is part number ZB 142 and measures about 3 11/16 inches in diameter with a 1/2 inch face. It has a 3/8 inch hole for the magneto armature shaft and the keyway is in great shape. It has 35 teeth and they are in great shape. They have very little noticeable wear if any at all. I believe this gear is for the 3 and 6hp Z engines with a rotary magneto and ignitor ignition. This gear has no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind and is ready to be put to work on an engine. The gear you receive may not be the one in the photos but it is just as nice as it as I have more than one of these. These originals are getting pretty tough to find. Don't miss it. Good Luck.

This is an original magneto bracket for a Lauson or Alpha hit and miss gas engine. I believe it is for the 1 1/2 and 2 1/2hp engines but measure your engine to be sure. It is part number W124. It bolts in as a replacement for an igniter. It has been repaired in one spot but it was very nicely done and is pretty tough to notice. The overall condition is nice. No other cracks.Breaks or repairs. It mounts to the engine with two 7/16" holes that are 2-3/8" apart on center. The pictures tell the story. Take a look! Good luck.

But maybe having the part number, someone might reconize the part and manufacture. It is in good original condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It measures about 1 3/16" I.D. or 1 1/4" O.D. and is about 2" tall with a 90% elbow which has a 1/4" pipe thread. The threads are a little rough, but still usable. It must have been used with this crack as there is oil between the glass in the crack itself. There is no gaskets for giving it a tight seal. It measures 6 1/4" tall x 2 1/2" across. The back side is blue and feels kind of like felt. But not as thick. There is some spotting on the blue side. The front has a lot of pencil writing. It also has some creases and two 1/2 inch tears. My guess is that these were handed out at fairs and other sales events. These are extremely rare and hardly ever come up for sale. Domestic shipping will be $5.60. Hit Miss Gas Engine 1 1/2 - 3 hp Fairbanks and Morse cart
Here is what was a 3 hp cart. It used the angle iron rails. One rail has been cut off. So I am placing the 1 1/2 hp pressed steel frame with this, to make it more appealing. If using this tin frame, the front bolster riser, the pressed steel support) would be too wide for the tin frame. One would have to find on for this application, or bend this one to work, or replace the one cut off angle iron and use it as a 3 hp, and have the pressed tin frame for a spare. The tin frame is in good enough condition. I see no major flaws. There are no washers with this cart. It does have a handle that needs a little attention. The wheels are ok. I am going to work on this a little. And take some more pictures. Only one rear bolster sells, and I plan to remove the hitch pin thing. I do not accept offers as a general rule. 1hp Handy Andy Hit Miss Engine by The Galloway Co. Waterloo. Iowa Up for Auction Only- No Reserve Highly prized by collectors due to it's size. ONLY 140 Pounds I have seen these restored and carried in the luggage compartment of motor homes or in the trunk of a car. NO VISIBLE CRACKS IN THE CASTINGS OR FLYWHEELS The piston is free but I believe the rings are stuck. THERE IS NO COMPRESSION. The rod and main bearings still have shims left in them. The movement of the crankshaft and rod is smooth. The cam gears look decent. See Pics. Nice little knife switch on very old. Possibly original skids. A small casting that supports the governor pivot lever has been brazed. This part bolts to the engine just behind the cam gear. The repair is just to the right of the pivot shaft's hex bolt in the last picture. In this picture you can also see ... morewhere some one repaired the starting crank by brazing it. Except for the brazed starting crank and the little casting mentioned above I see no evidence of cobbling. Make no mistake this engine will have to be carefully restored. And due to it's headless design it is not for the novice. Auction price is final. Do not expect to renegotiate after the auction ends. No foreign sales. Free local pick-up recommended. VINTAGE AIR COMPRESSOR TANK EARLY 1900'S I bought this from the estate of a man that had collected Hit& Miss engines. His son told me that this tank was hooked up to a air compressor that was run by a Hit& Miss Engine. The tank is not big. It stands 31 1/2" high from the bottom to the top of the gauges, the tank is 9 1/2" in diameter x 12 1/2" at the base. It only weighs 11 pounds. The tank has beautiful riveted construction on the seams. All the gauges are original antique. Look at the old control knobs they are really neat!
