Old Gould Shapley Muir Hit Miss 3 1/2hp Gas Engine Flyball Governor Steam NICE!!
This is an outstanding original 3 1/2hp hopper cooled Gould Shapley and Muir hit and miss gas engine. It is a large size engine for 3 1/2hp and is in excellent condition as can be seen in the photos. It runs great and has a very unique fuel injection system on it. It also has a very unique governor on it and coasts against compression like an Otto engine giving it a very distinct sound. It has one very slight crack in the head which I don't believe leaks and also a very old repair on the fuel injector body as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise it has no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I am aware of. It has the original muffler, crankguard, oiler, and skids with it and retains a great portion of its original paint. It has a brass bodied Webster K magneto on it. These are very desirable engines and are sure attention getters at the shows! ... moreThese engines rarely turn up for sale and they are almost never this nice and original. This is a rather hard to find Rayfield Model UF carburetor for a Model T car or truck. It is mostly made of brass or bronze and seems to be in great condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. There is a neat little glass window on the side of the bowl for viewing the fuel level in the reservoir. This carburetor is fresh out of an old farm shop where it has lived for decades. It has a 1 9/16 inch intake and a 1 1/8 opening into the manifold. It mounts with two holes 2 1/8 inches apart on center. Everything seems to move as it should with very little wear and I think with a little cleaning and some minor parts like a spring on the throttle shaft this carburetor should be ready to go. I've seen a lot of Model T parts before but I've never seen another brass carburetor like this so if you'd like something different ... morehere it is. Original Fuller Johnson NB NC Hit Miss Gas Engine Crank Guard Steam Tractor WOW
This is a rather hard to find original crank guard or shield for a Fuller and Johnson NB. NC, or ND hit and miss gas engine. I'm pretty sure it is for the 1 1/2 and 2hp engines but please make sure it fits your application. It is in decent used condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It measures about 4 x 12 inches overall and is made of a heavy gauge sheet metal. It mounts with a hole that the oiler screws through and the fingers at the back sit on the back edge of the crankcase. These guards are almost always missing on engines and they certainly don't turn up very often in the wild or even at swap meets so if you need one for any reason here's your chance. MAYTAG FRUITJAR HIT AND MISS GAS ENGINE RESTORED GREAT RUNNER 72
Here is a MAYTAG FRUITJAR engine. It was restored for the previous owner and I put a rebuilt(by Zack Northway) carburetor on it. It runs like a top. We only fill the fuel tank into the iron base. Not in the jar. There is a crack in the aluminum lid and there is no gasket so the jar will not hold gas, it could have been fixed, but who's crazy enough to put gas in the"factory made molotov cocktail? It has fantastic spark and compression and with a good hand has been flipped to start. We use a pull rope though. Two people said they thought it was an original. More than that though have said it is a reproduction. It is being sold as a reproduction! The serial number is 108738, which is in the proper range. Extremely Rare Unique Nelson Brothers Stationary Hit Miss Engine Not Maytag
This in an extremely rare example of an early overhead valve. Push rod actuated hit and miss engine built by Nelson Brothers. Overhead valves were a fairly high tech system when this engine was built, and were typically only seen on motorcycles, airplanes and the occasional car. The engine turns just fine, not locked up, and seems to create decent compression. The carburetor looks to be complete and intact, but a piece of fuel line that leads into it seems to be missing, It is also missing the oil fill cap, but these things should not be difficult to find/replace. I believe it is four stroke, but I am not sure, it seems to have some rather complicated plumbing that I do not fully understand, as I work with Briggs and Stratton engines more commonly. Original Fairbanks Morse 3 6hp Z Hit Miss Gas Engine Ignitor Steam Tractor NICE!
This is a very nice original ignitor for a Fairbanks Morse Z gas engine. It was factory equipment on the earliest 3 and 6hp Z engines that had a rotary low tension magneto. It is in excellent used condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind except for the trip finger which has some build up on it that has been nicely done and it is ready to be used on an engine. It is bracket number 303M57. It mounts with one bolt and a clamp and has a tapered fit in to the engine cylinder. There is very little noticeable wear on the movable shaft or on the points and everything works as it should. This is one of the nicer Fairbanks Morse ignitors that I've had in a while as they are usually worn out. They are fairly tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if your's is broken, repaired, or missing don't miss your chance ... moreon it. It would even make a great spare on the shelf. Sturtevant Steam Engine HC-1 hit and miss stationary boiler tractor sawmill
This is a 1910 era Sturtevant Steam Engine. The engine is frozen up. But is fully intact with governor, slide valve, oilers and other parts present. Engine is in need of full restoration, but what an incredible piece of history. This is an unusual model in that it has two flywheels, whereas the typical HC-1 had one. This engine was discovered locally after many years hidden in a scrapyard. Like many projects I've picked up over the years, just have too much on my plate so passing it along to someone with better time and resources. Now for the interesting part. The story that goes along with the engine was that it was a sawmill engine recovered from one of the Vanderbilt mills in the present day Pisgah National Forest. The scrapyard owner was a local from Haywood County that knew well the background. If this provenance is correct, this ... morewas one of the engines that powered the mills that produced the millions of board feet of lumber that left this region of North Carolina for the northeast and elsewhere. I state that the engine is 1910 era based on my amateur investigation of the engine and its identification numbers. The engine does include a section of piping and valves however that appear to be dated in the 1800's, presumably the piping that connected it to its original boiler. Perhaps this engine drove some part of the mills that created the Biltmore Estate, but that is speculative. The engine also includes a massive timber cart with cast iron wheels and strapping. Not sure if the cart in fact goes with the engine originally, however I recovered it at the same time and from the same location. I have the engine and its parts loaded on my truck ready for delivery to your location or shipping agent. This engine is tremendously heavy. We loaded it with a full-size trackhoe- my weight estimate is around 3000 pounds. I will deliver within 200 miles of Cherokee, NC for $2.00 per loaded mile. Well worth it. REBUILT John Deere Hit & Miss Gas Engine Magneto 1 1/2 - 3 - 6 HP
Here is a really nice magneto for a John Deere Hit and Miss engine. This magneto is in excellent condition. It was professionally rebuilt my a magneto repairman and has very hot spark just being turned over by hand. The threads in the bottom are in very good shape. These are often stripped out or broken. But these are in great shape! The gear is also there and in good condition. Nothing wrong at all with this magneto except for a small piece chipped off of one corner of the base as shown in picture. This does not affect the function of the magneto at all and the rest of the base is perfect with no weather cracking or any other problems! It has new brass bushings installed and is ready to bolt on and use on your engine! These are hard to find and even harder to find in this nice of shape. Nice old antique Briggs LI or L1 hit miss engine like Maytag others
This is a very nice example of a Briggs LI enigne. There no brocken fins on this engine wich is pretyty uncomon. The carb looks great the gov arm isn't broke I turned it over and got a nice jolt I was tole it ran but I didn't run it my self. It will need a fuel tank but I think that is all it is missing. Up for auction is a Nelson Bros. Model U. Or New Sattely. This is what I was told by Hit& Miss Ent. If I'm not correct, PLEASE let me know. This is the gas/kerosene version. The nameplate. Serial# tag is missing. The crank turns. But the valves are frozen. I was able to get a replacement for the missing rocker arm. Some gaskets, and literature from H&M Ent. ANTIQUE 1937 MAYTAG RESTORED VINTAGE GAS ENGINE HIT AND MISS WRINGER WASHER
Last year I had sold just about all of my Maytag engines off ebay. Up for sale is a very nice Maytag Model 72 long frame Antique hit miss Gas Engine. The flywheel has serial# 816216 stamped on it which was in production 1937. I have been restoring these engines for over 12 years now and I sell a lot of them. I also used to restore Maytag ringer washers and put Maytag motor's on themas well. This engine was completely taken apart and sand blasted and bead blasted clean and painted with DuPont paint. I take a lot of pride in these motors and I like to do a little extra detailing like the lettering and some of the numbers as you can see in the pictures. I think it makes the motor's stand out better. Lots of people like to take the same pictures as I do and try to confuse the buyer. I don't like the way they do things but I have no ... morecontrol of that. But I put my own trade mark on my engines then I know it is on that I restored proper. It has new rings, condenser, spark plug wire with new ends, new spark plugs. I also honed out the Cylinder jugs. This engine has been restored and freshly painted and the tank and top plate was sealed so it will not rust again. I did have pictures of tank and top plate after they were seal but could not find them so I put a picture of the last 72 tank so you can see what it will look like. I do not paint the flywheels like some people. After putting it all back together I ran 1 tank of fuel through it and it runs just fine. Detailing with the correct decals finished it. I cannot put a warranty on these motors do to the age of them BUT I will guarantee it will run great for you when you get it and keep running well. I have sold a lot of motors and washers and never had a complaint yet. All it needs now is fuel and you can start it with your hand, it is that easy to start. The kick peddle will be unbolted while in shipping so you would have to bolt it back on. The buyer agrees to pay an extra $35.00 packing fee.
