And with the spring they can be mounted and used in any position. The light spring gives them a very low cracking pressure, in other words low fuel pressure will open the valve. Antique Stover vertical three hp 1902/1904 hit and miss engine. very rare
Very old Stover vertical hit and miss engine. No serial number found but dates to the early 1900's. Because many original parts were missing a man converted it to a propane vertical side shaft engine and it runs well. Could be converted back to original if parts were found or made. It is on a nice old cart that goes with the engine. Battery. coil and propane tank are included. Shipping would be up to the buyer and it can be stored inside as long as it is paid for when sold. The Stanley Motor Carriage Company was in Newton. Mass. They manufactured steam engine vehicles. They operated from 1902 to 1924. Twin siblings Francis and Freelan Stanley founded the company after selling their photographic dry plate business to Eastman Kodak. They produced their first car in 1897. During 1898 and 1899 they produced and sold over 200 cars, more than any other U.S. maker. In 1899, Freelan and his wife Flora drove one of their cars to the top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire, the highest peak in the northeastern U.S. The ascent took more than two hours and was notable as being the first time a car had climbed the 7.6 miles long Mount Washington Carriage Road. The descent was accomplished by putting the engine in low gear and braking frequently. LARGE BRASS OILER HIT & MISS STEAM ENGINE INDUSTRIAL UNUSUAL ELECTRIC CONTROL
This is a large brass machine oiler. I have never seen an oiler made like this one. So I am not sure for what it was used. Overall length ia 10 1/2 inches. The reservoir is 3 1/2 inches tall and approximately 4 1/4 in diameter. It has four ports, not sure how they work? The most unusual thing, is the electrical solenoid, which apparent controls the valve to control the flow of oil? It is in excellent condition. It has no makers mark! Alamo Large 6-7 hp hit&miss Engine
Greetings up for auction is a large Alamo 6-7 HP hit and miss engine.Unfortunately there is no tag, has approx. 6" bore 31" flywheels, rebuilt fuel pump, newer stainless steel fuel tank. ignition system is spark plug fired that has been copied from original it works quite nicely this setup can be seen in one of the Alamo manuals offered by hit and miss enterprises, has a timing advance/detent lever for easy starting,carburetor and choke system all original, has a nice large Oil Rite drip oiler, crank guard has been home built and made of steel but looks good, there is an older repair to the head looks to be a nice job, can probably be dressed down by a good grinder man and painted to look nice, the rocker arm has been welded, I know of no other repairs to the engine, now I'm not weak by any means but I cannot roll the engine ... moreover without using the compression release I would rate the compression as excellent,it DOES NOT blow oil pass the piston AT ALL, the flywheels run true with very little or no wobble,it comes with its own dedicated coil so all you do is hook your battery up and go, there is an extra set of governor springs that come with it can be seen in one of the pictures, the belt pulley measures about 10" dia 7" face, I have taken this engine to one show and left it on the trailer and it drew quite a crowd when the engine would fire the whole trailer would bounce and shake and squeak up down pretty entertaining!I have not had this engine very long I'm moving and am forced to thin the herd other wise I would keep it, anyone wanting to come by and see it run is more than welcome, I would prefer local pickup but if need be I can bolt it on a large pallet shrink wrap it For a $50.00 charge and take it to Fastenal, buyer to pay for all shipping expenses ships to the lower 48 states only please, this engine is sold as is due to old age, watch for other engines I have for sale soon Thanks

No breaks. Cracks, or old repairs. As you can see in the pictures it is been painted and repainted several times over– it appears that the original color may have been red. For you collectors– this pump is extremely rare. I have only been able to locate mention of one more of these pumps in existence. Little to no information exists about the manufacturing company– we're assuming they were in operation around the end of the 19th century, possibly very early 1900s. Old used original maytag gas engine belt pully. It came off a single cylinder kickstart engine. It has rust, dings and paint loss. I do not see any cracks or breaks.

Hit and Miss Model engine Running! Build by Cole
I bought this engine at an Auction a few months ago. It is a older Cole model. Dimensions: Height 6" With 8" Length 12" Mounting base: 13X10X3-1/5. 6 Volt ignition coil in base. After some tinkering. I got the engine to run(Se link to video below! Engine ran very nice but it did not run as Hit& Miss! I did start the engine by spinning the flywheels, but was easier to start with an El drill with. A starting cup on the crankshaft. Engine has Great compression!I would think that the check valve in the fuel tank and the governor needs some adjustments. Here is a model AEH 6 hp Wisconsin engine that I had the good fortune to find at a farm estate auction. The low serial numbers on this rare collectible gasoline engine dates it to 1946 and the gas tank on this vintage motor has the remains of a Gibson Lawn Tractor decal. As near as I can tell the carburetor and part of the muffler are the only missing parts on this seldom seen engine that is not stuck and turns over fine. Recent high scrap iron prices have sadly put an end to many of these heavy duty old engines and parts alone are increasingly harder to find. Farm fresh. I bought some other items from same seller and they all worked so assume this one does too. This is a rather scarce original Red Devil fencer. Dated 1945. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind that were noted. This fencer would be an eye catching addition to your early dairy collection or farm items! The pulley that is on it is about 3" in diameter and 2-1/2" wide. Pulley spins and everything moves freely. I am not sure what this would be for. Old IHC 1hp Famous Titan Hit Miss Gas Engine Gas Tank, NICE!
Here is a gas tank from a 1914 engine. It has been modified for a side pickup of fuel at one point but is still a solid tank. I think the carb was changed at one time and it was moved. It is soft solder, so it could be moved and put a plug in the side hole, or use it on another engine such as a Witte or a similar tanked engine. It is a heavy gauged metal. There is a baffle in the tank and some corrosion, but not close to rusted through. The last picture shows the entire engine, this auction is for just the gas tank. Internal Combustion Model Engine, hit and miss, steam
The auction is for apartially completed four cylinder. Water-cooled V-4 internal combustion engine designed by Jerry Howell. A Bridgeport CNC mill, and all the tooling that one would expect to make a complex engine such as this. It took over a year and well over 300 hours. Unfortunately I never completed it due to health and personal issues. Plans were purchased fromJerry Howell and I will include them. I believe them to be complete but after so long all the pages may not be there and they are shop worn(I should have made copies) Included(purchased from Howell) are: Transistor Ignition Kit Ball Bearings. Again I believe ... morethey are all there. Magnetic drive for the water pump(pump parts are made and assembled) V4- Distributor cap Oil pump gear Spark plug wire Miniature spark plug(you will need three more) Most. If not all the“O” rings The special beautifully made custom gears are also included. Many parts were made more than once. Especially the block, which took four attempts. Unfortunately, I bit off more than I could chew. This engine is extremely complex and has at least a hundred machined parts. Due to health reasons, I am unable to complete it. I believe 95% of the parts are there as well as all the purchased electrical and mechanical parts. Most of the“O” rings are there but will you may need to buy some from Howell. Most of the parts were made to print. But some were fit and filed. Although unlikely. You may have to remake some parts. This engine was never assembled or run. Hit miss engine Stover CT2 cylinder head,cracked
Stover CT2 cylinder head.HAS 2 CRACKS SEE PHOTOS.Can be brazed or JB weld.This head did not leak from the engine before it was rebuilt. I had another head so I used that. The exhaust valve has an oversized valve stem thickness and a heavy spring that is not original but worked fine.You would need to get an intake valve and spring and retainer. Stover part#6CT2. Both valve seats good condition.
