Judge Leiper originated this line of birds. The story of the Judge's breeding that led to the origin of this fine family of fowl that makes the most sense to me is that they are a cross between Kearney Brownred and Kearney whitehackles. According to Ty Kennedy, there is also Black Jap blood which would explain the black influence that you see in these fowl. I just recently learned from Ty Kennedy who was reading back though his grandfather(Jimmy East Sr.s) breeding records that his Leipers originally came from Harold Brown. Of course Jimmy East Junior got his from Jimmy East Senior and Rat Graves got his from Jimmy East Junior. About 1 in 12 of my Leipers will come blue-legged. This particular piece is a very interesting and rare item. It is German Bisque. Good sized, and in relatively good condition. The casserole or crock pot measures 7 inches high and 7 inches in diameter. It is in relatively good shape. Other than the very minor chip shown, the only real damage I could find was to the broken eggs. Now mind you, these eggs were supposed to be broken, but there was some loss and chips to the broken shells. The chicks are completely undamaged, there are only some minor chips to the underneath rim where the lid sees the most action, and that's it. Sorry for putting these under German Bisque doll section, but Ebay does not seem to appreciate how many wonderful, childhood related items were made in German bisque, and I find that the doll collector tends to appreciate these items. Lovely Fun Hermes Tie Crocodiles Snapping Turtles Eggs Hatching
This is a good condition 100% Silk Tie by Hermes in an all over whimsical design of a Turtle looking at an egg and watching it hatch and then to be shocked to find when it hatches that it is a Crocodile. Background is a brightish brick red/orange and then the designs are in tones of brown. Fawn orange and white. Think pictures of whole tie are nearest in colour. Has a very good thickness to it. It has been dry cleaned in the past. Small scratch pull about 9 inches up blade but not very noticeable. See last pic for close up. Only you would know. Just the slightest start to wear at corner of blade but no hole. Blade at its w idest point is 3.5 inches and tie is Long at 60 inches in length. Hello and thank you for taking the time to view this pair of Art Deco/Metal Chicks Hatching out of Eggs-Salt and Pepper Shakers. Each chick measures 1 3/8" wide by 2 1/2" tall. The red dish at the bottom screws off and that's where you fill the salt or pepper. One chick has 5 holes sand the other has 3 holes. Each shaker is stamped"MADE IN JAPAN" The two chicks are in very good condition. There isn't any oxidation on either of the shakers. The shakers come from a smoke free environment. Ribbon, appliqued flowers, stars, and dots, and have a small gold string for hanging. A few of them have a little gold tag attached to the hanger that reads'Made in Taiwan' Of the twenty, there are four eggs that measure 2" high, eleven smaller eggs that measure 1½" high, and five half-eggs with little furry chicks and feathers. These little egg'baskets' have a thin thread for hanging. They are all in very good v intage condition- just a few have missing decals. A Vintage Lot of 3. Very old"Chicks Hatching out of Eggs on Springs" and a little Duck. As shown in pics Chicks are"Made in Japan" Bases are paper cardboard and eggs look to be paper mache or definitely some type of cardboard paper. This is a presale- that means the birds are not laying at this time but I am selling eggs to folks who want to be sure they do not miss out this year For auction are 4 Amherst Pheasant hatching eggs 2. We produce and ship hundreds of eggs and keep a careful record of the date of purchase and expected shipping dates. 3. Amherst pheasants start laying in late April or early May. I usually begin shipping eggs on the 15th of May. All of my presale eggs are shipped by the middle of June. 4.
