Fluke 87 True RMS multimeter, leads, manual, soft case, lightly used multi-meter
You are bidding on a lightly used Fluke 87 True RMS Multimeter. This is one of the highest-end meter in the 80-series that Fluke makes. The meter is in excellent working and cosmetic condition with minimal sign of use. There are a few very minor scratches on the case and the display VERY difficult to capture on pictures due to small size. There was a lightly scribed name on the back which shows sign of attempted removal with solvent but it is rather subtle and not too visible unless you look for it. I have tried to capture details in my pictures. The leads shown are included; these are upgraded Pamona leads. Not the stock leads that Fluke ships. Pamona leads are better in my opinion. It has backlit display that comes very handy for darker places of use as pictured. It measures frequency as well as all other readings you see on the dial. It ... morecomes with what you see in the picture, the meter the leads, the manual and the soft zipper case. The manual was folded and placed inside the case which got rubbed a lot as the meter was taken in and out so it is a bit worn and has some dirty finger prints due to normal use but it is complete. The soft case also shows some sign of use/wear, after all, it is used to protect the meter. I no longer have the original packaging. I understand. You really want one of those fancy Fluke 87’s that everyone talks about. Who wouldn’t want one? Great safety. Easy to use, just always seem to work even after you run over the thing with a small tractor because you couldn’t get the big tractor started. Really. We understand. The 87 is the best multimeter in the world and probably in space as well… BUT. They sometimes are kind of beat up when you are looking at the first and second gen models(the first gen has that red triangle between the Volts and Common inputs, the gen 2 say CAT III 1000V) Well have you considered the Fluke 83? It’s the same rugged case and same good looks as the 87. It even has that yellow case/boot/protective cover that everyone else copied. So what’s the difference? Well the 83 does not have a back light. It doesn’t have true RMS AC voltage readings(if ... moreyou don’t know what it is you don’t need it) It also doesn’t have the 20.000 count mode. So what’s the same? The mechanical durability and electrical safety is 100% the same. The meter also has the great touch hold feature(press hold. Take your measurement, wait for the beep… now you have a reading that isn’t changing… you don’t have to press hold while taking the reading) It has the very fast continuity check. It’s got a relative mode so you can null out voltages or resistances. It measures frequency. The probes are the same. It has the same warning(probe alert beeps) when you plug the probes into the amps sockets when in voltage mode(a great way to blow $10 each fuses) Heck. It even has DATA OUTPUT! No really! Actually all Fluke 80 series meters prior to the V series have this. It's kind of odd and I'm not sure more than one person ever used it. While turning the meter on, press and hold the'Hold' button. It will enable what the back of the meter calls'ultrasonic data output' Basically the meter makes an evil screechy beeping that is NOT ultrasonic but is actually a data output.
