And we only used it a few hours each week. The unit now has 221 hours on it from new. If you are needing a really good, dependable unit, look no further. It is a little dusty, but otherwise, is about as close to new condition as you will ever see. The cost of this unit when new was a little over $40,000. Northern Tools has an enclosed unit like this one for $46,000. but it will not produce 480v like this one will. We have ours priced cheap just to get rid if it. This was made by Taylor Power Systems- one of the biggest makers of industrial generators. It is model# TA-80. It is powered by a Perkins/Cat diesel engine model#1104D-E44T. 1800RPM and is mated ... morewith a Marathon alternator. It weighs approximately 2,000 lbs and is roughly 81" long X 36" wide X 55" tall. We had an all new AC system installed at our church only to then discover our facility did not have the correct voltage to run it. The new ac required 480v 3 phase but we only had 230v. And with the summer months coming up quickly, we purchased this generator to use in the mean time. It worked out just fine for us but we no longer need it. I don't know a lot about generators but after researching it I found that only a few generators out there were capable of outputting 460v-480v 3 phase power- unless we had purchased a much larger unit that would consume far more fuel than was actually required. This Onan 12K generator is mounted in a quiet box on a Freightliner truck. And was used to power a race trailer for our equipment trailer. The unit will stay on the back of the truck demonstration purposes to ensure to any potential purchasers that the unit runs. It can easily be removed in a few minutes. The Generator was serviced and recalibrated at the begining of the 2013 season and has been worked very little since then because the trailer we now have has a larger generator built in to it. It has an Onan 4 cyl air cooled diesel engine. Power is connected via binding posts and there is a convinience outlet on the front. Output is switcheable you can set it for 120v@ 106 amp single phase. 120/240@ 53 amps per leg single phase or 240 3-phase at 36 amps. It show 387 hours on the meter which is pretty low for these generators. I flushed the whole thing out, then put new filters and fluids in it. It may not be the prettiest one but it runs great. MILITARY 15KW DIESEL GENERATOR MEP-004A & TRAILER RUNS GREAT NEW FILTERS
You are viewing a US military surplus diesel generator MEP-004A on a trailer. It is rated at 15KW with a minimum of 20 percent reserve so it will run 18K no problem. It is a 120/208& 240/416 volt 60hz 3-phase generator. You can set it for 120/208 and use the 3 120 volt legs as single phase or I have instructions to convert it to single phase and use the full power output. Power is connected via binding posts and there is a 120v convinience outlet by the control panel. I put new filters and fluids in it and it fired right up. I put a 50% load on it and it ran fine. I used an aux fuel line to draw diesel from an external tank and that worked properly. The engine still draws and returns from the main tank the aux fuel pump senses the main tank level and fills the main tank from the aux sounce when it senses the main tank is at 1/3. The gen ... moreshows 2406 hours on it and is very clean inside. Markings inside indicate it was serviced by the military in 2012. Everything appears to work properly. These generators are very durable and are designed for long run periods. It has a Whites 4 cyl diesel engine which is pretty efficient. Most people dont need more than a 15K gen, the larger gens have a higher fuel draw even running at partial power. You will need to get a pair of 12v batteries for it. I slaved it off my truck to start it. The trailer is in good condition, tires have plenty of tread. It does have a big, high pintle hitch, the average civ truck is too low to tow it. Generator Military Diesel Fermont MEP-831A 3 kw Inverter
Up for sale is an almost new Fermont MEP-831A Diesel Inverter Generator. I purchased this 6 months ago with the intention of making it a home backup power source.but since then I have realized that I do not have the skill or ability to get it running. I purchased this at an auction and it is in NON-RUNNING CONDITION! There are parts missing and it needs to be put back together. As you can see from the photos.it has only 6 hours of run time and since it came from California,it is a rust free unit. FYI- I could not get the engine to turn over, it might be frozen or perhaps the compression release is not engaging- I'm not sure.
