Marshall JMP MK II 100 watt super lead Guitar Amp. Plexi, JTM
Up for auction is a 1976 Marshal JMP 100 watt Super Lead Head. SN. SL/A 09228H It is original and has had a master volume put on on the back panel and it works very well. You can still jump the channels which is the way it sounds best in my opinion. I am not an amp expert but I know it has has a couple of caps changed out as the old ones were bad. It needs 2 new knobs on the front to look nice but the ones that are on there are 100% functional just don't have the gold end piece. I would say this is a player condition amp not a collector. However, everything works as it should, there are no scratchy pots, IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL IRON IN IT! Output transformer is the Dagnall C2668 but I can't find any marks or sticker that is legible on the other transformer but my amp tech says it is original. It has Svetlana winged C EL-34 power ... moretubes and Groove Tube pre-amp tubes. This amp sounds great and the master volume works good. As I usually don't like them in the circuit, of course you can always take the master out if you like. It has the classic Marshall AC/DC 70's classic rock tone in spades and it IS loud. As you can see by the pics it is missing one of the plastic edge pieces and it has no back cover. Overall it is not in perfect condition but does have a few scrapes and bruises from 37 years of playing.So obviously, this one has held up, the iron is still there so she is a good one. OK. So here is a Peavey XXL head for sale. For starters.its ugly. The previous owner painted it an army green color and removed the faceplate. It is also missing the carrying handle on top. It has been well used and the tone knobs on the clean channel make a crackling sound when they are adjusted however. Once they are set where you want them they sound just fine. It has an effects loop, power dampening switch and adjustable power switch for 25, 50 or 100 watts. It is REALLY loud. It also has an impedance switch so you can use it with 4. 8 or 16 ohm cabinets. Details. 1969 Marshall 100 Watt Super Lead Amps kept getting bigger and bigger mainly for the practical reason of playing larger venues. But then something interesting happened. Just stand in front of a 100 watt amp on full tilt and try and tell me it doesn't change how and what you play. There's a percussive smack to every note and a bottom end like no other. It's also beautiful how all that power interacts with a speaker to create that creamy goodness you can't get in a pedal. Here we've got a great old Marshall just dying to get back out on the road. There are minor scuffs on the back of the cabs and the top of the A cab has a couple glued down spots on the gray tolex in the front but is not noticeable from more than 1 foot away. Vintage 1978 Marshall Custom Color Fawn 100W Master Volume Lead Head Model 2204 Clean Original Condition This Vintage Custom Color Fawn Marshall 1978 Model 2203 100 Watt Lead Master Volume Head spent much of it's life in the owner's studio. So it is in unusually clean and original condition. The original owner bought this head new in late 1979 to play in his band. Played it for about a year in limited gigs, then the band broke up, and the head went into the cellar. Not much use since then and no changes done ever. Chassis inspection tag dated 3NOV1978. The Head looks really clean and nice. With the control panel also looking great. The rear panel has one scratch. It's not bad, and it's on the back(see picture) The head just has barely any wear. Tolex looks great, with three small tear patches on the bottom which were glued ... moreback down. see picture) Transformers and all major components are original. Marshall introduced the Master Volume Lead amps in 1975. And guitar players loved it! By 1978 they were producing the Mk 2 version, and many guitarists bought them because it allowed overdrive without excessive volume. This head sounds great. And it is in awesome original condition. The head can sing sweetly using just a single 4X12" cabinet or hook it up to four Marshall 4X12" cabinets, and be prepared to be amazed! It sounds great, easily runs the cabinets, and will get up and go on it's own with just slight guidance needed from the guitarist. Marshall re-issued the 100 watt heads a few years ago. Nice try. 1969 Marshall Super Lead 100 Watt Amp Head Nearly All Original& Excellent Condition- Stored in Smoke-Free. Climate-Controlled Home Factory tested and finished on August 11th. 1969, which makes it a VERY early metal panel with the same circuit as a late 1968 to early 1969 Super Lead Plexi. Excellent condition. 100% functional, and nearly all original. A real gem of the vintage gear world. Not only does it sound phenomenal, but it has to be one of the absolute cleanest examples out there. It is extremely rare to find a Marshall from this period so well preserved. The chassis still retains some of the gold factory zinc plating. The amp has been kept in a road case most of its life and out of humidity. Some of the original factory stickers are still on the stock transformer and chassis. The gold panels are in amazing condition and look as ... morenew as I have ever seen on a vintage'60s Marshall. The head box is in superb condition and has only the slightest signs of wear. All the original feet are intact. The tolex and gold piping are in excellent condition. Which has been replaced with a new one from Music Ground in the UK with the proper pin spacing. Vintage 1981 Marshall JCM 800, 100 Watt Model 2203
Yes. This is one of the earliest ones built. The inspection label shows it was constructed in 1981, the year they started manufacturing them. No modifications have been made to this amp. This amp has a few cosmetic issues. 2 of which are shown in the photos: a gouge in the tolex and a missing cap on the pre-amp knob. A couple of the corners are also cracked and there are less noticeable repaired small tears in other places in the tolex. Probably the biggest issue with the head is that the back grate is missing(I found a replacement but it was for around $65. Which I refused to pay) Overall. It looks excellent for being 1/3 of a century old. Stand 10 feet back and it looks new for a couple seconds, with the exception of the two cosmetic issues described(see photos) Other than that. 71-3 Fender Quad Reverb 100 watt tube Amplifier working chassis, reverb + tubes
The Fender Amplifier chassis plays well and looks good and original on the underside. The 4 power tubes the 6L6 are mixed 2 Bogen and 2 Sylvanias the Sylvanias are the taller two on the ends with the Bogens in the middle, I'm sure a matching set would be better but I did test it with all 4 speakers it was quite loud, I do not have the needed pedal for switching channels, they are available in actual or remakes, I have not pulled all of the tubes to check brands but I will assume a fresh set would also benefit performance, before any long loud playing an amp tech should check it out to make sure the caps are good, they look fine to me, no leakage or anything obvious, it has been in a climate controlled spare bedroom for the last 13 years. On the side of the chassis there are some names and initials that may help with actual date they are ... moreas follows the names are in stamp form the initials are written by hand with a marker GM, JM, HM, the names are Dave Curtner and Brian Cran, hope that helps, it should for those in the know. Also it looks like a ding right where the Master Volume is located, it would require the removal of a couple of pots and some sort of press or possibly a brass hammer, but it was in the case and looked fine until pulled. The speakers you can see are not included, they are not from this amp I will be putting them up for auction separetly they are all from a Fender Rhoads electric piano, so no connection, if you are local you can come and pick up the case but we have no way of packing it. I doubt if it's worth the trouble would probably be best to put it in a twin reverb case or just built something to protect it. Thanks for bearing with me. Up for sale is a used Ampeg VT-22 guitar amplifier. Manufactured some time in the early'70s. This is a tube amp comparable to the Fender Twin Reverb, and it's a self-contained version of the V-4 amp(think"Exile on Main Street"era Rolling Stones) It's 100 watts(loud! of tube goodness. The amp was serviced a couple times back in 2010 by Robert Luedeman of Elderly Amplification in Windsor Heights, IA, and he installed two new speakers in it(Carvin British Series) switched out some tubes and did some other things to make it happy. The amp comes with a board with wheels(the amp weighs 88 lbs. to help you haul it around. Some known issues: 1) There's a rip in the tolex on the front and some rips/ stains on the outer frame(cosmetic. Doesn't effect the sound of the amp) 2) The reverb only sometimes works. I'm the second owner of this 1969 Fender Super Bassman head. It's in very good shape having spent 30 or so years in the original owner's closet. This head was built by fender to be their over-powered bass amp but it's also coveted by blues guitarists. Some details: everything's original. Nothing's missing, and it's never needed any repairs- 100 watt- all tube power and preamp- point to point wired. No printed circuit boards! After many years. I've decided to let go of some prized amps. This is a 1976 100-watt Marshall Super Lead. The amp has been modded to have one clean channel and one high gain master volume channel. Two inputs, one for each channel. The amp is set up with four 6550 power tubes for high headroom and huge power. Warren ran his Marshalls without the back cover on, but for tube safety I bought a used one and screwed it on the back. British power cord has been changed to a US one.
