Take a good look! This is really a great looking vintage pennant. It is a n eat looking old QUONSET NAVAL QUONSET POINT RHODE ISLAND P ENNANT Featuring the U.S. Navy Logo in the artwork. This naval station was built in 1941 and was used extens ively during WW II and later. This is an ext remely hard pennant to find and I am confident it is from the WWII era. I obtained 4 Navy pennants/flags and one was made by the Chicago Pennant Co. and the address(on its label) is from an address they were known to have been located at as early as the 1930s and they had left that address by the 1950s. I am fairly certain all 4 of these pennants are of similar age(see others. If still available in my ebay store) You don't see a lot of these. Especially with good age on them and in nice condition. There is a card from the Commodore in New York which I believe to be a hotel. Envelopes and stationary form the Hotel Statler in Buffalo, envelopes form The Seneca in Rochester New York and the hotel Thayer in West point New York. Please scroll down to view research of this auction. OFFERED: is a vintage and original letter from Charles S. Davol. Of Warren, Rhode Island, to Col. C. Charles) W. Abbot, Jr. Charles Davol was a prominent citizen of the town of Warren, and married to Carrie, daughter of Benjamin Drown, prominent in the political and social life of Warren. Col. Abbot was commanding officer of the 1st Regiment, Rhode Island Volunteers, during the Spanish American war. The regiment was mustered at Quonset Point, North Kingstown) Rhode Island at the onset of America's war with Spain. Col. Abbot was later the Chief Scout of the Rhode Island Boy Scouts, 1911 to 1912. This untimely letter, written in ink of the period was written by Mr. Davol, who apparently was not aware of Col. Abbot's imminent military orders in preparing the Rhode Island regiment at ... morethe onset of the Spanish American War. This letter invitation to a patriotic supper. Seemingly lighthearted and at times amusing, reads, My Dear Col. This is not a war like document; but has to do with that peaceful organization Known as the"Cooking Club" It has been finally decided that the Club hold its May meeting at#17 Child St. and it occurred to me that. Being warned in good season, you might steal away from duty and join us in a little pleasure. May 31st is the date and we want you with us. Come in uniform or come in any style of a rig; but come anyway. If you cannot arrange to arrive until one of the late evening trains come direct to the house; but try and join us at supper. It contained news. War stories, cartoons, sports and other subjects of interest to personnel at the base. The pages measure 12.25" x 9.25" and there are eight pages in an issue. This issue begins with a self-congratulatory headline announcing how well the base did achieving its goal of War Bond purchases. It is supposed to be about 38'x40' There are a couple bent panels, that got damaged from the wind, but most are straight. It does have at least one end, but it has rust on it. Prefab Steel 30x60x16 Round Arch Style Metal Quonset Hut Farm Storage Building
Gentlemen. First let me tell you a little bit about the building. The building is located in Gods country, Springdale/Zion Natl. Park Utah. I contracted a property/estate cleanup project, 2.homes and 5 shops on about 1-1/2 acres. The property belonged to a 97 year old man that recently passed away, he was a bachelor/handyman/appliance repairman/hoarder. This Quonset Hut was his main shop, the building is approximately 30' wide x 60' long x 16' tall. I know the photos look a little rough because of all the junk around it, don't be fooled, the building is in excellent condition, no dents, no rust, and very few holes have been cut into it, the only penetrations are in the front/door side, a couple 2-1/2" conduits for utilities and a 3" flue pipe, it has a Reznor propane unit heater inside, the heater is included. It ... morehas double 6' x 12' sliding doors, they open like a dream. This building is the heavy gauge/deep ribbed model, the military would bury this model for bunkers. The building is not insulated, but it can be, the prefab insulation panels are still available for purchase. The reason I am selling the building at such a low price is because the buyer is going to have to dismantle and transport it themselves. I will have in and around the building cleaned up so no problem there, I can assist loading the building onto a trailer, the buyer can also use my ladders and scaffolding so they wont have to haul that with them. If my telescopic forklift isn't being used by myself or one of my employees it can be used as well. I can make arraignments for discounted hotel rooms if that will help. 2 or 3 guys with good cordless impact drivers and I don't see why the building couldn't be dismantled/banded and loaded in 2 days, 3 tops. This really is a beautiful building, this is a chance for someone to save alotta cash, a similar building would set a guy back $15k if he was lucky, and it would only be similar in shape, they do not make Quonset Huts like this anymore, this building
