This is an early 1800's hand hewn dog trot log house that will be numbered and dismantled. Delivery is available or pick up yourself. The dimensions are 38'x15' with each log pen being 15'x15' with an 8' space between them. The house is 1 1/2 story tall and has heart pine and oak flooring throughout. The bottom two courses of logs are oak all around and the rest is pine. The logs are in excellent condition with only a few needing to possibly be replaced or repaired. Vintage 1800's Hand Hewn Log Cabin - Oak & Chestnut
An Oak and Chestnut cabin and a second cabin bought just for the logs. Both the cabin and the logs are from structures that were originally sited in Western North Carolina dating from mid to late 1800s. Two structures for sale. 1) The pictured cabin is dog trot consisting of a 16'x20' 1.5 story section and a 14'x16' 1 story section(see floor plan) originally purchased for $22.500. Logs are 12- 14" face and 7- 8" thick. 2) Second cabin included is not pictured. But consists of a set of 20'x30' of extra logs to expand and augment the listed cabin. These logs are primarily Oak with some Poplar or Hemlock in the mix. In addition to being longer overall, the majority of these logs are larger- up to 20" wide and 12-14" thick. Antique reclaimed 2 story log cabin
Up for sale is a circa 1850 log cabin/ barn located in south central Illinois. We salvaged this cabin 3 miles from our home with the intent to rebuild it into a new home someday but now are moving out of state and just can't haul it with us. The structure measures approximately 18'x25' by approximately 13' high to the top eave logs. The rafters and nailers are all hand split and were held on with very few cut nails. The top eave logs were secured to the top gable end logs by 2" pegs hand drilled and driven into place. This building was actually inside of another barn that had been built around it so it was out of the weather for maybe half its life. I had our local DNR forestry guy look it over and he identified it as all Yellow Poplar. Commonly called"Tulip Tree" around here except for the top row of logs which ... morewere Red Elm and Oak. The way he told me they used the best they had first and when they ran out of local useable poplar they went to the next best thing. Yellow Poplar is naturally rot and insect repellant and the logs are in exceptional condition. The logs were all numbered with aluminum tags upon disassembly and they are stored inside a barn with ricking in between each log, and the wood as well as the ground in the barn have been treated for termites etc. I have lots of photos that show where all the numbered pieces go as well as measurements taken before disassembly. It's important to note that this has been used as a barn and so some logs have been cut for openings for livestock etc and all can be seen in the photos. One neat feature is that the second story flooring was supported by the three longer logs that you can see extending out of the front of the structure which also doubled as supports for a front porch rafter structure. Not one power tool was used on building this cabin, you can see the adze marks on the logs and some of the logs still had bark on them in the chinking slots.
